Are you sure that you're testing was actually observing the voice mail
notification?
My *guess* is that the voice mail notification happened too early for
unity8 to see it, so it just went to the void. And the notification
you're seeing is actually the "placeholder" notification. Which unity-
I’ve asked design to comment on the proposed solution (never auto-hide
the top bar for larger screens, like the M10), which sounds reasonable
to me. Let’s see what they say about it.

Sound is outputted through HDMI. Upon suspend/resume or resume from
screen blank, output switches to analog and HDMI is not an available
option from the GUI although still listed using "aplay-l". Sound returns
after resetting HDMI as default using the following command: pacmd

The top of the messaging app allows to choose the sim-card. This worked

I am afraid I can't fully agree with marking this bug as duplicate to #1568750.
- in #1568750 the problem is using wrong SIM when sending SMS - this is the
same
- but here I am asking to re-active/bugfix
The bug seems to depend on ~/.config/dconf/user, removing which fixes the
problem for a couple of boots.
But that's still an awful bug, making it impossible to use Ubuntu for those who
don't know how to deal with the command line.

I know it's a long time, but I'm cleaning up old NTP bugs atm.
While I totally agree with all that was said before, times have changed
since this went dormant and we have to look at it freshly.
For NTP, the config via -N works these days:

udev is there, by default for a long time - due to that the wait will work
"now".
If we would have such a state we could set this bug "Fix Released long ago"

When opening new tabs in the browser, it decides if it should close
existing ones based on level of free memory available in the system. My
