[Touch-packages] [Bug 1629620] [NEW] DNS resolver stops accepting queries
Public bug reported: After a while / after resume from suspend, the system becomes unable to respond to DNS queries, with the following output for example: $ nslookup google.com 127.0.1.1 Server: 127.0.1.1 Address:127.0.1.1#53 ** server can't find google.com: REFUSED This is on an up to date yakkety install. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1607291] Re: Dual SIM devices show "No SIM" icon in indicators if there is only one SIM installed
Not sure what is the exact requirement for carrier certification but in my opinion showing the SIM Icons for each detected SIM cards is equally functional as showing the empty icons. That said, the only extra information that the empty SIM icon is adding is to tell the user that this phone is actually capable of using more than 1 card. If the requirement is to always give a hint of the number of SIMs the phone is capable of, then a possible space-efficient solution would be to show which SIM is the indicator refering to. This could include the total number of slots like the page counters in a document: 1/2, 2/2. This means a user with only the second slot being used will have an indicator showing 2/2, a user using only the first slot will have 1/2, and a user with both will have 1/2 in one indicator and 2/2 in the other. For single SIM support it doesn't harm to show 1/1, but it could also default to not showing it explicitly. Just an opinion... because I think showing both indicators all the time is a misuse of the limited space. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629611] [NEW] dns server priority broken
Public bug reported: network-manager: 1.2.4-0ubuntu1 Yakkety appears to have switched back from resolved to dnsmasq, but it seems server priority/order is broken. Example: In split DNS setups, connecting to VPN will not cause us to query the DNS provided by the VPN first (or only), which should be the proper way to resolve names in that case. Say server.example.com in the public DNS resolves to a.a.a.a and in the private DNS resolves to b.b.b.b. Stuff would work from my normal internet-connection, but connection to VPN would cause stuff to misbehave. I expect to hit the b.b.b.b address but since my normal LAN DNS is being used first, I'm really hitting a.a.a.a. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1594658] Re: diskless setup with nfs mounted home hangs on shutdown/reboot
it appears that my symptoms also relate to this bug report. however, i'd like to add that the feedback provided by the system, at least in my particular case, is extremely unhelpful. i think it can be better. i have a very minimal virtual guest, running 16.04. it has a "physical" wired connection, and an nfs mount in fstab: >cat /etc/fstab # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a # device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices # that works even if disks are added and removed. Also, this counter "(10s / 1min 30s)" stops visually updating. server $nfs-ip-address is not responding, because, all network interfaces are already down at this point. I am not exactly sure why this happens. Looks like there is a wrong ordering of shutdown of systemd services, which bring down interfaces before something nfs-related, but I am not sure if that's the reason of hanging. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629203] Re: aa-logprof does not include #include in profiles
I'm afraid this is _not_ easy to reproduce. (Well, the load failure when tunables/global is missing probably is, but but we need to find out _why_ tunables/global was missing in the profile.) IIRC, you are the first one who noticed such a problem in all the years I use and work on AppArmor. I can't imagine what you did to trigger this, because all code I know (I just commited a *big* patch series for the aa-* tools, so I'd say I do know the code) would never forget to include tunables/global. So - can you please provide an _exact_ way how to reproduce this? Ideally that means to start with a tarball "/etc/apparmor.d/ before adding the mariadb profile", and then continue with the exact steps you did (including a "screenshot" of the aa-logprof run - "aa-logprof | tee /tmp/logprof-screenshot" or saving the console history should do this). If you can't provide all the details, it would at least be useful to know _how_ you created the profile and "just added path and complain flag" ;-) Which commands did you use? Any edits in $EDITOR or only using the aa-* tools? Also, what do you mean with "profile for mariadb [...] is empty in Ubuntu 16.04"? BTW: To make things even more funny, I'm not even using Ubuntu (I use openSUSE since 15 years). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629203 Title: aa-logprof does not include #include in profiles Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04, fresh profile, systemctl reload apparmor says errors: сен 30 11:24:33 inetgw1 apparmor[13771]: Found reference to variable PROC, but is never declared This is because there is no #include in profile. Until then we can just > have a mini-generator do this for us. After we have the Requires/After > =graphical-session-pre.target, then "systemctl stop graphical-session- > pre.target" properly blocks until all "later" units are completely > stopped. I remember this problem. It would only solve this specific issue if it lets us get rid of the stop or restart in the session-runner script. If you ever end up stopping gnome-keyring from within a new session then its ExecStopPost kills the upstart session of this new one that we are starting up, *not* the previous one that it was started up under. That's a mismatch vs. session and user specific semantics of upstart and systemd --user. Hmm. Maybe this is saying that we should bind ubuntu-session.target to something else - like unity7? You can't log in again with an active unity7, so in theory (if stop is propagated down to graphical-session and graphical-session-pre) there wouldn't be a need to stop/restart in the script since everything would be stopped by definition if you're trying to start unity7 again. -- Iain Lane [ i...@orangesquash.org.uk ] Debian Developer [ la...@debian.org ] Ubuntu Developer [ la...@ubuntu.com ] -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to upstart in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618886 Title: unity-gtk-module.service is racy; session services don't stop if session terminates Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in unity-gtk-module package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in upstart package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Sometimes on session start unity-gtk-module.service runs too late or something, and $GTK_MODULES does not include "unity". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629598] [NEW] Apps failing to load on M10 (OTA13)
Public bug reported: Over the last few months, apps have started failing to start on my M10. Apps affected currently: - camera (stops at 'Loading...' screen), - gallery (stops at 'Gallery' splash screen), - document viewer (stops with white screen and 'Documents' header) I have had issues with Telegram too, which now just goes to a white screen, but that may stem from setup problems I have with the app on my M10 and E4.5 (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-webapps- telegram/+bug/1626728) I had hoped OTA13 would fix it, but sadly not. ** Affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: ubuntu-docviewer-app Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: camera-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: camera-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ubuntu-docviewer-app Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to camera-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629598 Title: Apps failing to load on M10 (OTA13) Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in Ubuntu Document Viewer App: New Status in camera-app package in Ubuntu: New Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Over the last few months, apps have started failing to start on my M10. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629580] [NEW] firefox keyboard not showing up (gmail, ...)
Public bug reported: Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 15.04 (OTA13) on my Aquarius M10. Now the keyboard shows up at least in google and other websites, but I can't connect to my gmail account, because the keyboard doesn't show up when the password of the gmail account is asked. I was able to write my email account with the kb, but not the password (because no kb). This might also appear at other text box input, but I don't have any other proof. Firefox 44 is installed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629370] Re: PKINIT fails with PKCS#11 middlware that implements PKCS#1 V2.1
RFC 3447 seems somewhat ambiguous about whether the AlgorithmIdentifier parameters (which consist of an ASN.1 NULL, DER-encoded as 05 00) must be present in various situations. Cross-checking with various CMS RFCs suggests that they are required when using EMSA-PKCS1-v1_5. cms_signeddata_create() in pkinit_crypto_openssl.c appears to omit the parameters when id_cryptoctx->mech is CKM_RSA_PKCS, which leads me to wonder how this ever worked. (Maybe this combination of conditions -- a token that can only do CKM_RSA_PKCS that also verifies the encoding of the DigestInfo -- is rare, but I lack sufficient information to be certain.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to krb5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629370 Title: PKINIT fails with PKCS#11 middlware that implements PKCS#1 V2.1 Status in krb5 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Problem: can't do PK-INIT with a smartcard PKCS#11 middleware that implements PKCS#1 v2.10 $ kinit -E name.surname@something@REALM -> fails Diagnostic using PKCS11-SPY from OpenSC: 16: C_Sign 2016-09-16 14:31:53.265 [in] hSession = 0x6bc3a70e [in] pData[ulDataLen] 0931e898 / 33 30 1F 30 07 06 05 2B 0E 03 02 1A 04 14 17 07 D3 0.0...+. 0010 5A 2B F8 78 C0 FD CD 87 EE 25 08 C2 DD AA 50 3D Z+.x.%P= 0020 DC . [Touch-packages] [Bug 1618886] Re: unity-gtk-module.service is racy; session services don't stop if session terminates
> To fix that, something like comment #3 is needed. Such as looping over all 'active' units that are PartOf graphical-session.target and stopping them all. I think we would only need to "systemctl stop graphical-session.target" for this, otherwise a unit forgets the PartOf= and that loop would not work anyway. > gnome-session needs a fix to its ExecStopPost to not kill the one we just started. This is similar to waiting for "deactivating" units after *-session.target goes down. On the systemd sprint we just figured out a better scheme for this which solves that waiting, does not require this session ID tracking, and also gets rid of the manual starting of graphical-session-pre.target: Eventually we just want to declare in *-session.target that it comes After=graphical-session-pre.target and have this propagate to the dependencies (https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/3750). Until then we can just have a mini-generator do this for us. After we have the Requires/After =graphical-session-pre.target, then "systemctl stop graphical-session- pre.target" properly blocks until all "later" units are completely stopped. ** Bug watch added: github.com/systemd/systemd/issues #3750 https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/3750 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to upstart in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618886 Title: unity-gtk-module.service is racy; session services don't stop if session terminates Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in unity-gtk-module package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in upstart package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Sometimes on session start unity-gtk-module.service runs too late or something, and $GTK_MODULES does not include "unity". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1616809] Re: Indicator-network doesn't reflect the connection status and throws "Network error" in browser and other apps
Actually sometimes the indicator shows that the device is connected and in fact us not as open app or webapp/scope just hangs( probably waiting gor an active connection) or show message error, not connected to internet. The other times is no data icon shown and the connection is solid. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to indicator-network in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1616809 Title: Indicator-network doesn't reflect the connection status and throws "Network error" in browser and other apps Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in indicator-network package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Pro 5 on latest rc-proposed. The network is not updated at all or with a very long delay. Most of the times when I leave my home wifi and go out, I can still notice the "no network" icon after 15 minutes or more even though the mobile data shows as 4G (see attached screenshot). The problem is more apparent when moving from wifi to mobile data then going from mobile data to wifi, but the problems occur quite often both ways. In some form or another, this has been an issue on every UT phone I have owned (Nexus 4 several years back, Bq Aquaris E4.5 and Meizu Pro 5). The problem is that apps on the phone seems to ask the network indicator about the connection status, not checking if the device is actually connected or not, and therefore throwing me the dreadful "Network error" in any app that needs an internet connection. Wouldn't it be better if the actual connection status determined the state for the apps trying to connect? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629554] [NEW] After pressing suspend button, resume never works.
Public bug reported: Suspending and then resuming by using the keyboard button has worked very well on Ubuntu 14 LTS. After upgrading to 16.04 LTS it has never worked. The computer suspends, but no keyboard press can ever wake it again. As it could before. Pressing the power on/off button on the computer does not work either. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629365] Re: In response of Bug #1551982
Emanuel, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your help. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1107 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629365 Title: In response of Bug #1551982 Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Mr Scott Stensland, Thanks for your interest in this issue. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1629546] [NEW] Mouse device grabbed after first login after boot
Public bug reported: After logging in, after boot, results in less than a minute, in a grabbed mouse device. Thus buttonpresses are ignored and I cannot switch windows. Keyboard works though. The same behaviour occurs even if using flashback and metacity. Workaround, ctrl-alt-f1 and then back to alt-f7 releases the grab. This only happens at the first login after boot. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1627496] Re: AMD Radeon hardware features or firmware looked over by Linux 3.6.0+ kernel.

I'm using the same adapter on another computer also running lubuntu and it works fine. I don't know if it's related but I can't shutdown my computer without pressing the power button. After logging in Unity, opening a console, the limits are not set: blablack@ideaon:~$ ulimit -l -r max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 64 real-time priority (-r) 0 Reloging to my user via bash DOES apply the limits: blablack@ideaon:~$ ulimit -l -r max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 64 real-time priority (-r) 0 blablack@ideaon:~$ su blablack Password: blablack@ideaon:~$ ulimit -l -r max locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited real-time priority (-r) 95 Switching to a console (ctrl+alt+f1) and logging in would apply the limits as well. The exact same setup used to work fine on Xenial 16.04 before upgrade. If you need any more information, please let me know. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1595177] Re: [SRU] Update apt/xenial to 1.2.14
** Tags added: upgrade-software-version ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Fix Released ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1595177 Title: [SRU] Update apt/xenial to 1.2.14 Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Bug description: (This is a template for now, so I can close the bug in the 1.2.14 upload) [Impact] We intend to upload APT 1.2.14 to xenial under the new "micro upstream release" policy. Apart from fixing bug 1573547, it also updates translations fixes the following other bugs: [[1.2.13]] Segmentation fault fixes: * fail instead of segfault on unreadable config files (Closes: 824503) Fixes for 3rd party programs using libapt and C++ locale API: * prevent C++ locale number formatting in text APIs (Closes: #825396) Fix for hurd (not really affecting us here, but upstream): * apt-key: change to / before find to satisfy its CWD needs. Thanks to Samuel Thibault for 'finding' the culprit! (Closes: 826043) Leak fixes: * do not hang on piped input in PipedFileFdPrivate * don't leak an FD in lz4 (de)compression * don't leak FD in AutoProxyDetect command return parsing [[1.2.14]] Regression fix from 1.2.13: * do not error if auto-detect-proxy cmd has no output (Closes: 827713) Huge apt-ftparchive performance regression fix from 1.1: * Reinstate caching of file hashes in apt-ftparchive (Closes: #806924) Tiny bug fixes, about 2 lines each: * source: if download is skipped, don't try to unpack * ensure filesize of deb is included in the hashes list [Test case] The releases follow new upstream micro release rule and thus are assumed to be tested by our integration test suite. There are two exceptions which cannot be tested: * prevent C++ locale number formatting in text APIs * apt-key: change to / before find to satisfy its CWD needs The first has no affected code in the archive (but maybe 3rd party code), the second only affects hurd. [Regression Potential] Very low. The release has been tested by a thorough integration test suite on Travis CI, Debian autopkgtests, and has been in Debian unstable since 2016-06-22. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1598384] Re: [Wishlist] apt command: add more subcommands to autocomplete, help and manpage
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1573547 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573547 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1573547 Apt's bash completion is incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598384 Title: [Wishlist] apt command: add more subcommands to autocomplete, help and manpage Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: It seems has a lot more subcommands than those listed in the manpage or the help message. For example, "download", "policy", "changelog" and "dist-upgrade" all work, and they aren't listed. Maybe apt supports all subcommands from apt-get and apt-cache? However those subcommands aren't listed in the manpage or the help message. They also don't have autocomplete, which makes using them a pain, and makes me use apt-get and apt-cache instead. It would be great if all those subcommand were listed in the manpage and help message, and if there was autocomplete for them!
