the upgrade would not automatically enable -updates, and we really need

I was able to solve the problem by booting with an old kernel, editing
/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf and replacing
MODULES=most
with
MODULES=dep
and then running sudo update-initramfs -u.
I think the problem was that initramfs was including a module xhci-plat-hcd
which is buggy and not real

Recently I can definitely reproduce the issue anytime.

I just fixed the binutils bug I think, and it's in the queue for trusty.
Just Googled for "segfault iterative_hash" and that turned up a patch
... So I think this should build on arm64 again soon.

[trusty/arm64] binutils segf
I see dep8 failures in software-properties 0.96.20.6. But a recent test
against 0.96.20.5 succeeded, which suggests to me that it is a
regression caused by 0.96.20.6. I don't see anything obvious in the diff
that could cause this, but I think it warrants further investigation.

Dropping the tag. Boot time can change randomly. Desktop start does
*not* depend on apt timer start, and timer now depends on network-online
in order to actually work. So yes, it actually does something now, so it

I have now tested this new apt (1.4.1) against the old version (1.4).
My setup is using solely systemd (with no upstart nor cgmanager installed).
I have fast SSD's, so my normal booting time is about 4 seconds.
