I recently upgraded to Xubuntu 17.04, and am experiencing an issue with
the xfce4-panel sound menu indicator. When I change the volume level
using the sound menu's slider, notify-osd will appear over the controls
and block use of the menu.

One option is to install 16.04 or later and configure unattended-
upgrades as recommended in the document. I am afraid all the related
bugs will not be fixed in 14.04.
Fixing Bug #1460396 and Bug #291342 would also help users of Software
Updater even if unattended-upgrades is not used.
As for default settings for unattended-upgrade, it is interesting what
Canonical Foundations Team is going to do with Bug #1624644.

before. The system is a freshly installed Xenial Xerus 16.04 updated to

@slashd, Maybe something has changed in systemd or something? I'll check
it out sometime when I have time.
Did you make a clean install? How did you ensure that the job was stuck
in the queue? I remember that adding a socket:// printer with an invalid
address did the trick.

FWIW current Ubuntu citrain branch seems to apply exactly the same patch
twice for some reason:
debian/patches/adjust-nameservice-for-systemd-resolved.patch
debian/patches/profiles-grant-access-to-systemd-resolved.patch
Not sure what's going on, but anyway we don't apply this patch in Debian
so
Just upgraded to 17.04 from 16.04 and found DNS resolution stopped
randomly working.
As it turns out systemd-resolved decided for some obscure reason to
switch to google DNS which it can't reach compared to the locally
provided recursive resolver which continues to work just fine.

any result.
But the problem remains. The update for the operating system stops at the
half way.
And I've got another update for software 3.20.5 which not even starts. Any
idea what I could try?
