I've tested upgrading cups-daemon package to version 2.1.3-4ubuntu0.3 on
KVM, LXD and Virtualbox and I haven't found any issues so far.
Testbed specs:
1. KVM - Xenial 16.04 / qemu-system-x86 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.14
2. LXD - Xenial 16.04 / lxd 2.0.10-0ubuntu1~16.04.1
3. Virtualbox - Xenial 16.04 /
I have a similar problem in Ubuntu 17.10 with last totem release and also with
the preceding one (Installed: 3.25.90.1-0ubuntu1)

had the same problem with a pptp vpn (don't ask why we use pptp). As
described i had to set the MTU of the physical network adapter (e.g.
eth0) to 1000 to get the VPN working without disconnectes all the time.
