By the changelog, glib2.0 was update to a new upstream release from
2.56.1-2 to 2.56.2 and so a security update was done over it.
In order to figure out if it's an issue in the security update or the
original version glib 2.56.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1. Could you please try this

Sorry to necro such an old thread but there seems to be a regression. I
have this same issue on my Lenovo Ideapad 320s. Given that it seems
almost unique to Lenovo, would it be possible to create a general case
for all Lenovo laptops where muting one internal microphone is an option
by default?
When we tried to install glib 2.56.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 it was giving an error
like this,
E: Version '2.56.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1' for 'libglib2.0-0' was not found.
The error is reproducible only when we upgrade from glib 2.56.1 to glib
2.56.2 . We are not facing this issue on glib 2.56.1

Also, is there any POC/test in how to reproduce this?
Thanks!

Hi Amit,
The last update/sec update touched glib2.0 regarding gMarkup and UTF structure.
Were them:
- Fix crash in error handling path for closing elements -

- Fix unvalidated UTF-8 read in markup parsing error path -
What is the point in adding ufw to a distribution if it's disabled by
default? Surely those users who know how to enable it are also able to
also disable, install and uninstall it as well. Ordinary desktop users
using computers as tools have no idea what a firewall is and why it's
needed.

Want me to look at the issue in gtk itself?

Could you give details on the segfault, maybe a backtrace from gdb? Did
you try downgrading the glib package to verify if that resolves the
issue?

Marco, dropping the legacy .desktop is not what this bug was about.
Those are in bionic and can't be removed there so the bug is about
patching gtk to filter those specific files out, which is a workaround
but should do the job for the stable serie
