Going to the single VPN, I also once saw the "Automatically connect to
VPN" menu grayed out and not selectable.
Then I realized that you have to go to another normal connection (e.g.
wired, Wi-Fi, etc) and select "General configuration" > "Automatically
connect to VPN".

At this point I can only think that a change in one of the dependencies
of these libraries is the problem. Are any of the other libraries
updated in my term.log in the dependency tree of the failing library?
If so, perhaps I should first restore the libgail-common and then back

Something different happening this morning! I ran the gdb for fcl to
obtain the back trace for you, but unexpectedly the program actually
started! There are some messages in the output, but the GUI is up and
running.
Given this I just tried and both gimp and virtualbox are starting now as
