The problem started to appear 2 weeks ago after one of my daily updates.
It also happens after I re-install the system from a freshly downloaded
ISO file. The system freezes at the moment, it starts the gnome display
  manager.

I file the bug-report after a partial upgrade just before I will reboot
the system. If needed I can reboot in recovery mode, since the gnome
display manager is not started in that case.

I tried the continue button without effect and also "apt upgrade" and
"apt dist-upgrade" do have the same effect

I run the VM from the Host-OpenZFS file system, so I can restore to
before the update. Recently I use a Virtualbox snapshot to restore the
  system to before the update/upgrade.

If you need log files, let me know.

Bluetooth mouse usage makes A2DP audio stutter

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: bluez

When I use my Bluetooth A2DP headset (Philips SHB7102) together with
my mouse (Lenovo Bluetooth Laser Mouse), I notice this:

Whenever I leave the mouse still for a few seconds (it seems to enter
some kind of lower-power-mode) and then start to move it, my music
most of the time skips for a second. This makes using these two
  bluetooth devices together quite annoying...

The adapter is a Lenovo "ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate
II" (Bus 004 Device 005: ID 0a5c:2145 Broadcom Corp.)

I am running current karmic amd64 (linux 2.6.31-9).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1992306] [NEW] Problem with default a2dp codec for bluethooth headset

2022-10-09 Thread Mårten Thornberg
Public bug reported:

I had some trouble getting my bluetooth headphones to work and I believe
the culprit is the default codec that pulseaudio chooses. It appears to
work ok when having no other Bluetooth devices connected, but when
connecting a bluetooth mouse the audio gets distorted and begins to
stutter. The offending codec is ldac_hq. I did some investigating today
and found out you can change the codec in pavucontrol. Selecting ldac_sq
seems to work without any issue.

I don't know what the problem with ldac_hq is, maybe bandwidth? Wasn't
able to find any obvious problems in the logs, even when enabling
debugging in bluez.

While investigating this I noticed others having the same issue, and it
was difficult to find a way to change the codec, so maybe ldac_hq
shouldn't be chosen as default?

Assuming that it doesn't require a FFe for Kinetic since the code is
  only active on LTS series.

Expose more of the Ubuntu Pro (aka Ubuntu Advantage) services instead
  of just Livepatch.

2022-10-09 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-standard-support on April 25, 2019.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days

Title:
On a Thinkpad X230 tablet, the "rotate" bezel button does not rotate
  touch device

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
In Trusty, pressing the "rotate" button on the bezel of a Thinkpad X230 tablet
  - rotates the orientation of the display in steps of 90°
  - rotates the orientation of the input device for the stylus accordingly
(which is good, it did not work in saucy)
  - BUT it does NOT rotate the orientation of the touch screen device (which
makes using the touch screen impossible)

Please do rotate the orientation of the touch screen input device
synchronously with screen orientation. This will be such a useful
  feature, once it works!

Xorg freeze when returning from fullscreen Youtube is in play mode

Bug description:
  Hi,

Unfortunately, I've been having numerous problems with Ubuntu 16.04
LTS user interface, to the point where I am looking to give up on
Ubuntu, after using it for number of years.

In the last week, I've to reboot the system number of times, either
because of the "freeze bug" or "gpu hang", see
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1656658.

Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated. If need be, I am
willing to help the developers in any way to dig further into the
  system for the root cause.

Title:
Issue with Multiple Displays (AMD Cards / 16.04)

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have two identical AMD Cards and whichever card I name in the BIOS
as primary correctly displays the desktop and allows me to orient the
  desktop directly (landscape, portrait, etc).

The secondary card will not allow the settings to be changed in
anyway. Performance is not ideal although the displays on the
secondary card do work and applications will run on them.

While I am a relatively new user to Ubuntu I am quite willing to help
provide further information for de-bugging purposes.

Please note that I had the same issue in 14.04 even after installing
  the FGLRX drivers.

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1634017] Re: usb mouse and keyboard freeze after login

2022-10-09 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days
time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

Title:
usb mouse and keyboard freeze after login

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hello,
I have a usb logitech wireless mouse and keyboard connected via an aten usb
switchbox to my computers (desktop and laptop). With release 14.04 I did not
have any issues. I have now upgraded my desktop to 16.04 and did a clean
install on my laptop with 16.04. Now I have the following phenomena:
Mouse and Keyboard are working fine when I have the login screen. However
after login in my desktop (gnome) comes up and my mouse pointer is shortly (1s)
disappearing and reappears.
Then I have an approximately 2min freeze time for mouse and keyboard (meaning
no response to the usb mouse and keyboard). After that everything is working
fine. On my laptop there is no interruption using my internal touchpad and
keyboard. This happens on both computers. Switching back and forth is seamless
unless the period from switching from one computer to the other takes to long
(can not specify the exact time here maybe 1 hour). Then I have the above
phenomenon.
I have already asked the question and checked the ubuntuforum with no success.
  Best regards

Bug description:
Took download to update system, first download after system was
installed, unable to complete download, lost MIFI INTERNET connection,
still unable to get that connection back. Touch pad works, then stops
working, also having a problem with typing keys, touch screen
sometimes also has problems, intermittent, noticed keys that are hit
are not inputting. I use this for school, have lost windows 10 could
not recover, had someone from school look at, could not repair,
decided to convert to Linux OS, need to learn. OS was installed from a
pen drive that student had. Problem not created from that, problem
started while downloading first update, it may be because it was
interrupted, not sure. Have been researching this problem since it
started, found information that suggested that this could be a bug.
suggested running things in command line, not interested, scared may
be giving instructions on how to create issues. Computer Enginearing
