[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443580] [NEW] Camera corrupts images

2015-04-13 Thread Denny
Public bug reported:

I am using a bq aquaris 4.5 ubuntu edition (14.10R20 Ubuntu Image Part:
20150312 Device Image Part: 20150310-3201c0a).

I wanted to take multiple photos.
After every shot the camera showed me a preview.
When I wanted to check my photos afterwards, checking the photo roll, I could
find only 1 photo, while swiping to the next one it showed only a spinning
cycle of friends.

I checked the pics on Ubuntu Desktop and found corrupted files instead
of image files (JPEG datastream contains no image).

press it, a spinner starts looping while trying to obtain a thumbnail
for the full screen and does not ever stop. If you press the play
button while you see the spinner, mediaplayer-app plays the video.

So, the bug is gallery-app not obtaining a thumbnail in the video-

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1367028] Re: [MIR] system-image

We have a newly-accepted temporary fork of system-image in the archive

Bug description:
spawned from efforts in bug 1336715

because the user's input toggle for airplane mode is both a reflection
of user intent the state of the backendand the backend is
unfortunately variable lengthy to change (anywhere from 1 to ~10+
seconds sometimes) we need to have an intermediate/transition
statee.g. toggle to airplane mode onthen animate somehow that
there's a transition happening, until it either fails/succeeds

  comment from dizzypaty

Between the user’s action of toggling the airplane switcher on and/or
off and the backend updating the state, the indicator icon displayed
on the statusbar should be the following: network-idle.svg

  Desired resolution

Summary: the interface should immediately respond to user input
confirming the action, even if the backend takes up to 20 seconds to
actually change state. Having the UI and backend out of sync for up
to 30 seconds is not a problem, as long as it always goes back into
  sync after this delay.

1.When the user changes the flight mode toggle switch it should
  instantly change state.

2.The backend should then be informed of the state change.

3.Up to 30 seconds later the backend completes the state change

Note: The cellular connection indicator should always display the
backend state, not the current flight mode toggle switch state

Variation - user switches the flight mode toggle on and off rapidly.

Once a flight mode state change request has been sent to the backend
but before a conformation that the state change is complete is
received, all further user interactions should be buffered on the
client. When the client receives conformation of the state change
from the backend it should check to see if the state is in sync with
its buffer. If it is in sync nothing happens and the buffer is
cleared. If it is not in sync another state change signal is sent to
the backend and the buffer is cleared.

alt+backtick doesn't focus on selected one of many windows previously
  clicked

Status in Unity:
  In Progress
Status in Unity 7.2 series:
  Confirmed
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
This a user experience issue and easily reproducible.

Open multiple instances of your favorite application. Then click on
Unity's icon for the app when you are already focused on one instance
of it. This opens up a tile of the instances of the application which
you can select from with the mouse.

Now while that tile is shown, use ATL+backtick to select the window
you want instead of clicking with the mouse. The result is that the
  tile window doesn't go away.

If you use ALT+backtick and switch to ALT+tab (or start from ALT+tab
from the start) and select another kind of application, then the tile
goes away correctly and the other application comes in the front.

I can verify that the window you would select with ALT+backtick does
actually get to the top of the view and is marked as the last visited
instance, because if you switch to another application (using
ALT+tab) and click back on the group of the original application you
would see the one you previously selected with ALT+backtick.

  ---

  Here are step-by-step instructions.

  - Open a couple of terminals
  - Open firefox
  - Click on the terminal icon
* This should open a tile showing the various terminal windows you have open
* If that doesn't happen, click again (you were not on a terminal window
before)
  - Use ALT+backtick to select one of the terminal windows

Expected behavior: The tile of terminals goes away and the selected
  terminal is focused

Observed behavior: The tile of terminals stays on the screen

  * There is no way to know which of the two SIMs is being used for
cellular data. Also, it looks like the displayed indicator mixes data
from different slots: when I have a connection on the secondary slot
using EDGE, I see an icon with an H some times, and with an E (the
right one) some times. The H is probably taking from the technology in
the primary slot, which is not attached.

Also, related to this one: mobile broadband data connection speed is
right now always coming from SIM 1, even if SIM 2 is the one used for
  mobile broadband.

  2. Scroll down the Network indicator
  3. It lists about 10 AP (In Taipei office)
  4. Go to another place and check network indicator again

  Expected Result:
It should not list non-exist AP and only show available AP

  Actual Result:
It shows about 12 AP on the screen but only two are real AP for connecting,
and others 10 are from last list.

This is reproducible on mako/krillin on both RTM and vivid.

The main issue is that the timeout for the AP to be removed from the
known AP list is too big when comparing with other phones.

It's possible for the device to boot in such a manner that the
network-indicator doesn't display an icon on the top panel ( see
  attached screenshot ).

This bug was discovered while testing an ofono vivid silo. The
  associated ofono merge request is:

  https://code.launchpad.net/~phablet-
  team/ofono/ww10-update/+merge/250665

The version of ofono in the silo (ubuntu-013) is:

  1.12.bzr6888+15.04.20150224-0ubuntu1

This version of ofono fixes a couple of bugs, the most important being
a regression on krillin where the 2nd SIM isn't always recognized on
  boot.

My testing was performed using two SIMs, with the 2nd SIM being PIN-
  locked.

In the case of the missing icon, no PIN unlock screen was displayed
  after booting.

I checked using 'ps' and an indicator-network process is running,
however when I checked /home/phablet/.cache/upstart, there only
indicator-network log files I see are the saved .gz files. There's no
unzipped/current indicator-network.log. The .gz log file with the
most recent timestamp shows a single log message:

  phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~/.cache/upstart$ less indicator-network.log.1.gz
  void core::dbus::PropertyT::handle_changed(const
core::dbus::types::Variant) [with PropertyType =
org::freedesktop::URfkill::Interface::Killswitch::Property::State]:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method Get with signature ss on
interface org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties doesn't exist

I checked and urfkilld is running on the system.

I also verified that there were no crash files present on the system.

I also checked and there was nothing relevant in syslog.

This bug is hard to reproduce as well. I've hit it 4 or 5 times out
of a total of maybe 45-50 reboots.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1367028] Re: [MIR] system-image

2015-04-13 Thread Barry Warsaw
Let's make sure that any packaging changes that happen in this fork also
gets proposed against

https://code.launchpad.net/~barry/ubuntu-system-image/citrain30beta

That's the 3.0 branch for si client destined for the citrain. Don't
worry too much about whether changes are relevant or not; I'll sort that
out.

After connection drops, mobile-data takes ~5m to re-connect

Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products:
  In Progress
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
If the mobile data connection drops due to signal loss or modem reset
  ( eg. changing radio technology, setting 3g slot, ... ), there's a
delay of 5m before NetworkManager attempts to re-connect.

The original bug pertained to changing the radio technology ( which
causes the modem to unregister and then re-register using the new
technology ), however the problem is more generic. The steps to
reproduce focus on this case, as this is the easiest way to get the
modem to drop the connection for long enough for the problem to occur.

Forcing the modem to disconnect via wrapping the device in tin-foil
  should also trigger the problem.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Confirm cellular data (disable wifi)
  2. Change TechnologyPreference on online SIM
  3. Confirm no cellular data
  4. Wait ~10 minutes
  5. Confirm cellular data

  What happens:
Changing something on the modem causes cellular data to disappear for 10
minutes

  What should happen:
It should behave as before, i.e. cellular data should come back immediately

In Ubuntu 14.10, the mouse cursor graphic gets corrupted under certain
occasions. It then looks flipped, sheared or shows fragments of a
  previous cursor.

  * when switching the cursor them forth and back in Gnome Tweak Tool
  * when dragdropping a document icon

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale
on a high-dpi display (this was working right in 14.04). For example
after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to
start a dragdrop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size.

Title:
Tapping alt-tab switches between windows of the same application
  sometimes

Status in Unity:
  In Progress
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Normally, tapping alt-tab switches between applications, and tapping
alt-` switches between windows of the front-most application. However,
if the two front-most windows are from the same application, then alt-
tab will switch between these windows instead, instead of moving to
the second-front-most application. Hence, in this case, alt-tab
  duplicates the action of alt-`.

  Here is an example:
  1) create the stack with two nautilus windows at the top, e.g. Nautilus
window 1 (N1), Nautilus window 2 (N2), and Firefox window (F1) (but you can use
any applications). Create the stack either by [clicking F1, N2, N1] or
[switching to Nautilus with alt-tab, then alt-` to the other Nautilus window].
  2) Tap alt-tab.

What happens: I switch to the other nautilus window.

What I expected: to switch to the other application (i.e. Firefox).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 449762] Re: No sound with intel-hda without alsa force-reload

2015-04-13 Thread UlfZibis
Hi,
I experience this bug again with Ubuntu 14.10.
I need to do:
sudo alsa force-reload

To make it work permanently, I need to edit /etc/pulse/default.pa :
load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:0
load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:0

This bug is probably a duplicate of #430711 or #411574 but I'll report
it anyways for my specific hardware.

Since my upgrade to Karmic Beta, sound has not been working.
Pulseaudio is convinced that there is no sound card to use and sets up
a dummy device. After running sudo alsa force-reload (as described
  in #411574) sound works fine.

The dialer panel is seen with the header Emergency callsthen changes to ATT

Similar poor transitions are seen when going form a voicemail or missed call
notification.
In this case I often see No net prior to seeing ATT

The experience is better when the app has been run, but we still see
  the lock screen.

It seems we should not be setting default text for the header, but
should wait until the correct state and context is known.

  -UX comment--

+1 with Pat. Ideally, if an incoming call is accepted the transition
shouldn't show the lock screen at all.

The system for supporting MMI plugins allows special numbers to be
  dialled:

  *##

Which should be directed to MMI plugins in the custom tarball. When
using Chinese as a system language, this mechanism fails. Instead of
attempting to use an MMI plugin, the phone dialler simply attempts to
use the string as a phone number.

  vivid-proposed/62

In another bug (listed as a dupe), the characters * and/or # were
suspected to be different, and not parsed correctly by the dialler.

  Steps to reproduce:
  - let battery run down on phone (was sitting unplugged for 1 or 2 days)
  - in the morning, a calendar alarm starting ringing/vibrating and would not
stop
  - when I looked at the phone, the screen was on and I see the Low Battery
dialog
  - after dismissing the dialog, then I see the notification for the alarm, and
only after 5-10 more seconds does the ringing stop

Seems like while the Low Battery dialog is displayed it keeps the
  alarm ringing forever

  version custom: 20150411

This is a regression from RTM.

The current logic doesn't check for the volume value before calling
pulseaudio and account service when updating the volume variable. The
consequence is that it will set the volume at least twice after you
change it, since it will get a callback from account service, and that
will result in another volume set with the exact same volume.

  Expose DirectionalDragArea in the UITK

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
One strong principle in Ubuntu Touch’s UX is the use of edges.
In particular, the bottom edge is reserved for applications to implement
innovative and useful interactions.

At the moment implementing such a gesture recognition in pure QML
requires using an invisible mouse area at the bottom of the view to
detect the start of a drag gesture. Unfortunately if there is content
below that invisible drag area, it can’t be interacted with, because
the mouse area will swallow mouse events.

In the unity8 code base, there is a custom component called
DirectionalDragArea (implemented in C++) that solves this issue
nicely. Unfortunately it’s private to unity8 and can’t be reused in
  applications.

This bug report is to request considering moving ownership of this
component to the UITK, so that it can be exposed publicly and used by
  application developers.

we can have a function in QOfono
  QOfonoConnectionManager::addContextWithTag(QString tag).

I think it should not overlap at all (or at least totally) or maybe
  even they keyboard should hide.

  (same for arale/vivid as well)

If you happen to have a scope that uses location data in background,
your GPS will always be active, doesn't matter what is in the
  foreground.

This is a an issue with krillin (standard channel) as the main scope
(Today's) can easily on background when you're using other apps.

If you move to the apps scopes, then GPS will automatically be
disabled, and this won't happen (same for any other scope that doesn't
  use location data).

This is only when the user is actively using the phone, as the GPS
gets automatically disabled once the screen turns off. And there is no
timeout at all, it stays there until you move to another scope or turn
  off the screen.

Once a flight mode state change request has been sent to the backend
but before a conformation that the state change is complete is
received, all further user interactions should be buffered on the
client. When the client receives conformation of the state change
from the backend it should check to see if the state is in sync with
its buffer. If it is in sync nothing

Title:
scope:// url dispatching does not correctly work if a non favorite
  scope is shown

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When the currently active scope is not marked as a favourite it is not
possible to switch to a different scope (e.g scope://clickscope) with the
URL dispatcher. It just seems to be ignored.

  Example:
  - Amazon scope is not in favourites and visible
  - run url-dispatcher scope://clickscope from the shell
  - it will be ignored.

Title:
Tapping the top edge shows the indicators panel when in fullscreen
  mode

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu RTM:
  New

Bug description:
  STEPS:
  1. Run a fullscreen application (eg machines vs machines, Gallery when
displaying a photo, camera-app)
  2. Tap very close to the top edge (where the indicators bar would be if you
were not in fullscreen)

  EXPECTED:
  The application gets the tap.

  ACTUAL:
The indicators panel slides down, getting fully shown/open.

  COMMENTS:
When in fullscreen, you can reveal the indicators panel by performing a
top-edge swipe. The bug is that even a simple tap near the top edge is enough
to reveal it.
