[Touch-packages] [Bug 1303726] Re: package python-apt 0.7.94.2ubuntu6.4 failed to install/upgrade: sub-processo script post-installation instalado retornou estado de saída de erro 1

2015-06-18 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Can't read that, but it should not happen anymore, as packaging changed
a lot since then, if it even was python-apt's fault, which seems
unlikely.

With trusty, /bin/ping relies on having extended attributes and kernel
capabilities to gain the cap_net_raw+p capability. This allows
  removing the suid bit.

However, the tarball cloud images do not preserve the extended
attributes, and thus /bin/ping does not work on a system derived from
  them.

  Summary of problem per package:
   * lxc: ubuntu cloud template needs to extract
   * download template needs to extract with xattr flags
   * server side download creation tools need xattr flags
   * [unconfirmed] tarball caches need creation and extraction with xattr flags
   * tar: need the '--xattr' and '--acl' flags backported
   * maas: uec2roottgz needs to use xattr/acl flags
   * curtin: extraction needs to use xattr/acl flags.
   * cloud-image-build: needs to create -root.tar.gz with xattr/acl flags

I can reproduce this both on wily (r228) and on the OTA-4 (and I could
reproduce it on the OTA-3 too).

  Steps:

  1) Open the browser and navigate to mobile.twitter.com
  2) login (if you are already logged in, log out and relog in again)
  3) swipe from the right, to go to the task switcher
  4) close the browser app
  5) Reopen the browser

Expected outcome: you are still logged in twitter.

Actual outcome: you are not logged in.

This happens about 50% of the times to me; if you cannot reproduce it,
repeat steps 2-5 a few times.

It doesn't seem to be a matter of timing: even if I let several
seconds pass between steps 3 and 4, or even if I reactivate the
browser after step 3, I can still reproduce the issue.

I can see the same issue also with gmail (I tried with my private
  account).

This is most likely an issue in oxide (or blink), but I'm filing it on
the browser as a starting point for the investigation.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1465675] Re: API needed to determine if App ID is a scope

2015-06-18 Thread Ted Gould
I feel like your two points conflict ☺

If looking for a file on the filesystem won't work, then I can't ask
click for the information as if it knew there was a scope there it'd be
writing a file to the filesystem. That's basically what the scope click
hook does. (symbolic link, but whatevs)

Worst case if I had to spin up a full connection that wouldn't be the
end of the world, in these use cases we're talking about long running
processes that could keep the connection open.

There are a few cases where we'd like it if a higher level service could
determine if a particular AppID is connected to a scope. This mostly deals with
requests that relate to trusted session prompts as they need to be overlayed on
top of the dash instead of the calling process. Another is so that URL
dispatcher can return better errors on the scope:// URL namespace. I don't
think that it needs to be complex, roughly something like this:

  bool isScope (const char * appid);

an SRU issue to document the update of gcc-4.8 in trusty

14.04 LTS saw two new architectures, arm64 and ppc64el. These require
some updates for the toolchain. binutils takes some selected patches
to fix specific issues, and gcc-4.8 takes the state of the current
gcc-4.8 fsf branch to update the compiler. Changes and addresses
issues are mentioned in the debian changelog. Packages are prepared
in the ubuntu-toolchain-r/ppa PPA, and a test rebuild of the archive
was done on all architectures using this PPA. The results of this test
rebuild look ok (for all of the -release, -updates and -security
pockets). As a further test, the linux (see bug #1383474), firefox and
libreoffice packages were rebuilt, tested and found working.

  The test rebuild archives are:

path (with this server configured in sources.list), the download
from selection list shows Server from Argentina as expected, but as
soon as you change this option, you can't go back, because this server
is not listed in the Choose a Download Server list.

If you edit sources.list by hand, the Download from selection list
  shows again Server from Argentina.

  The server address is http://ar.archive.ubuntu.com

As there's nothing we can do about that without breaking other use

Please clear your configuration before setting RootDir like options and
then re-init the config.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466458] [NEW] template 'none' doesn't work with lxc-create

2015-06-18 Thread Kevin O'Riordan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

The man page lxc-create(1) says that with the '-t' option to specify a
template 'none can be used to force lxc-create to skip rootfs
creation'. This does not appear to work.

root@somehost:/var/lib/lxc# lxc-create -n test.lol -t none
lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: get_template_path: 867 No such file or directory
- bad template: none
lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: lxcapi_create: 1264 bad template: none
lxc_container: lxc_create.c: main: 271 Error creating container test.lol

There is no template in the templates dir corresponding to the 'none'
template. I've looked through the upstream tarballs from releases
0.5.0, 0.6.0, ... , 1.0.0, 1.1.0, and there is no 'none' template in
any. Might be just a documentation mistake, I guess. Could be a
missing template, or maybe 'none' has a special meaning to the lxc-
create binary; I haven't looked yet.

I'll dig a little further.

I'm using lxc 1.0.7-0ubuntu0.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 .

thanks,
Kevin

Status in Snappy Ubuntu:

Status in Snappy 15.04 series:

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
The apparmor cache gets confused easily on upgrade.

  Here is what happens:
  - boot stable, /etc/apparmor.d/cache/usr.bin.ubuntu-core-launcher is mtime of
now because we generate the cache on boot
  - upgrade to edge, /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.ubuntu-core-launcher is updated
and has the mtime of T (yesterday) when the file was put into the package
  - on the next reboot the apparmor_parser compares the mtime of the
cache/usr.bin.ubuntu-core-launcher (very very recent) with the mtime of the
souce usr.bin.ubuntu-core-launcher (much older)
  - cache does is *not* re-generate

  Possible solution:
  - clear cache on upgrade
  - make apparmor_parser store mtime of the source file in the header
  - make apparmor_parser use set the cache file to the mtime of the source file
used to generate the cache and re-generate if those get out-of-sync

  Original description:
  --

Rick Spencer ran into the situation that he ended up with a snappy image that
gave the following error:

  apparmor=DENIED operation=mkdir profile=/usr/bin/ubuntu-core-launcher
name=/tmp/snap.0_pastebinit.mvo_em33Zz/ pid=1092 comm=ubuntu-core-lau
requested_mask=c denied_mask=c fsuid=0 ouid=0

  Running:
  $ sudo apparmor_parser --skip-cache -r
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.ubuntu-core-launcher
  fixes it.

This strongly indicates that the cache has the old content and did not
get re-generated on upgrade or image build.

I also managed to reproduce this via:
  15.04/stable-15.04/edge

  The image is here:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466510] [NEW] unlocking phone sometimes shows stretched app

2015-06-18 Thread Gerry Boland
Public bug reported:

Test on image with shell rotation enabled.

Steps to repro:
1. open app, e.g. system settings.
2. rotate device to landscape, see app adjust to suit.
3. lock phone.
4. rotate device to portrait.
5. unlock phone.

Bug: You see flash of stretched app, before it redraws to look correct.

Think we need to resize/reorient the app sooner.

** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Touch-packages] [Bug 322448] Re: dpkg-divert: rename involves overwriting `/usr/share/dict/words.pre-dictionaries-common'

2015-06-18 Thread eraserix
This bug happens to me on a rather minimalistic precise install (lxc-
create).

Looking at the preinst script of dictionaries-common suggests that the
bug is still there in trusty. If the package wamerican is not installed,
the divert will break, because there is nothing to divert.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1447173] Re: libusermetrics FTBFS with Qt 5.5

2015-06-18 Thread Pete Woods
Almost certainly the missing include. the Qt guys have been doing a
thorough job of cleaning up unnecessary includes in their headers, with
the side-effect of breaking compiles for those who accidentally depended
on them.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466458] Re: template 'none' doesn't work with lxc-create

2015-06-18 Thread Kevin O'Riordan
That stuff after my signature might be misleading. The host I'm working
on, my desktop, is indeed running ubuntu 15.04, with lxc 1.1.2-0ubuntu3.
The host I discovered the problem on is definitely running ubuntu 14.04
with lxc 1.0.7 .

Testing on my desktop, lxc-create fails but with a less verbose error
message:

$ sudo lxc-create -n test.lol -t none
[sudo] password for user:
lxc_container: lxc_create.c: main: 274 Error creating container test.lol

I've had a look through the source code for lxc-create, and 'none' doesn't
appear to have special meaning, so lxc-create probably looks for an lxc-none
template in the template dir.

  I'm using lxc 1.0.7-0ubuntu0.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 .

  thanks,
  Kevin

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1421623] Re: Welcome wizard claims GPS is less accurate than wifi based location

2015-06-18 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
It might be that some of the confusion here is caused by bug 1462664,
where the GPS sometimes stops working when wi-fi is turned on. The net
result of that would be that GPS + Wi-Fi + cell tower data effectively
became just Wi-Fi + cell tower data, and therefore was less accurate.
But that's just a bug.

Bug description:
First boot welcome wizard in location sections claims GPS is less accurate
than network based location service from HERE.
While this can be theoretically true in some insane corner case, in normal
life GPS is far more accurate.

To help form correct text here are main differences.

GPS - more accurate, but slow to acquire fix, does not work indoors,
drains battery more, no need for internet connection, does not send
  any data out.

Network based location - almost instant to get coarse location, works
indoors, accuracy depends on network coverage in the area, more power
efficient, requires internet connection. To get location data about
visible GSM network and wifi networks needs to be send to 3rd party
  server.

  tested on krillin vivid-proposed r107

It would be nice if XChat could be dropped from repositories entirely or

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466528] [NEW] crossbuild is broken because of dependency conflicts

2015-06-18 Thread Andrea Bernabei
Public bug reported:

Building armhf unity8 in a chroot with sbuild currently doesn't work
because of dependency issues.

How to reproduce:
1) mk-sbuild --target=armhf vivid
2) add overlay ppa to the chroot, upgrade packages etc
3) sbuild --host=armhf --build=amd64 vivid-amd64-armhf

Building fails during the installation of unit8 builddeps:
libconnectivity-qt1-dev:armhf : Depends: libconnectivity-qt1:armhf (=
0.5.1+15.04.20150611-0ubuntu1) but it is not going to be installed

Installing libconnectivity-qt1-dev:armhf manually in the chroot works,
but if you try installing unity8 builddeps after installing
libconnectivity-qt1-dev:armhf, apt will try to remove libconnectivity

There is probably a dependency conflict where one of the builddeps of
unity8 conflicts with libconnectivity-qt1-dev

More details:
if you install libconnectivity-qt1-dev:armhf, then install builddeps and let it
remove libconn-qt1-dev:armhf, and then try installing the builddeps again, the
conflict become more evident, here's the log:
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11735156/

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1465675] Re: API needed to determine if App ID is a scope

2015-06-18 Thread Michi Henning
Maybe we are missing each other here. I'm trying to help. I'm just
pointing out that there are some potential issues we should think about.
It may well be that I don't have the complete picture...

When you say if a particular AppID is connected to a scope, I don't
really know what you mean. All the scopes runtime knows about are scope
IDs. That's it. The scopes may be kicking around in all sorts of
directories, depending on configuration. So, there is no fixed place in
the file system where we can look to answer the question. Instead, we
have to parse a bunch of config files first, and the way to do that get
the information out is to ask the registry. Asking the registry requires
instantiating a client-side runtime.

If you don't mind keeping a runtime around and the cost of initialising
and finalising it, no change to the scopes API is needed at all. The
registry can deliver a list of scope IDs it knows about through already
existing APIs. To the registry, scope IDs are simply strings. It doesn't
understand anything about them, other than that they are unique. So, if
it's possible to answer your question by just looking at a list of known
scope IDs and doing some pattern matching on them, we can do that today,
in a few lines of code. No change to the scopes API necessary. I'm happy
to help with an example client that does this.

So, if all you need is a list of the scope IDs that are known to the
registry, no problem, we can do that right now. If you are asking the
scopes runtime to understand something about the de

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1465675] Re: API needed to determine if App ID is a scope

2015-06-18 Thread Ted Gould
The URL dispatcher case is that it gets a URL that looks like this:

 scope://com.foo_bar

I want to know whether to return an error on that URL because it is a
scope that doesn't exist, or to pass it onto the dash. So it is really
just testing that string to see if it is something that the dash will
understand.

What I want is to be able to ask the Scope system whether it considers
the ID valid. If that involves connecting to service or checking a file
is really an implementation detail. I just want to know if that ID (or
one with the version in it) are considered valid.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466228] Re: search suggestion in scopes is shown outside visible shell on Krillin

Judging by above screenshots, the positioning on Krillin is different from
Mako. But its wrong in both cases. As I said, on Krillin it is positioned above
the searchbox (at least when one or two previous searches were made), in which
case its placed outside the visible shell.
See attached screenshot on Krillin. The bottom edge of the hint-box is just
about visible. In this case the soundcloud app but it's the same in any scope.

http://uppix.com/f-screenshot2015065582d2f70019332d.png

when list of previous searches is longer (3 or more), the positioning is
correct initially but I have found that you can move it around by
dragging. I am not quite sure that this is by design..

This happens about 50% of the times to me; if you cannot reproduce it,

It doesn't seem to be a matter of timing: even if I let several

I can see the same issue also with gmail (I tried with my private

the office sets up an access point with the same SSID but without
encryption hoping that somebody from the company connects to it. Bob
does not notice that the AP he sees in his indicator is in fact not
encrypted and connects to the open AP thinking he is connected to the
company secure AP and now all his sensitive traffic is exposed to the

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466581] [NEW] Unable to unmount 'hung NFS mount' (server gone) with FORCE and/or LAZY

2015-06-18 Thread Sander Smeenk
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Trusty, util-linux 2.20.1-5.1ubuntu20.3

I can't 'umount -f /mnt/storage' an NFS-filesystem whose remote end has
gone missing. The process just stalls in an uninterruptable state.
Strace shows umount at some point tries to readlink() the mount point
which stalls because that mount point is broken. Which is why i want to
force umount it. ;)

I then proceeded to remove 99% of umount.c's code so it would just call
umount2() on the target with the FORCE flag, recompiled the binary and
it 'neatly' unmounted the filesystem.

I think umount.c tries too many sanity checks with -f enabled.
It should perhaps ask if the user is really sure, and then just call umount on
the target and fix mtab etc...

** Affects: util-linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1453912] Re: systemd does not allow to boot with /home on dm-crypt

Title:
systemd does not allow to boot with /home on dm-crypt

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Since upgrading from version 14.10 to Kubuntu 15.04, my system does
  not boot normally any more.

Maybe it's only a stupid oversight on my part, but not being a systemd
pro, I'm currently at a loss of how to debug this any further.

Hints and pointers to appropriate documentation are welcome!

Kubuntu 15.04 quickly boots to a specific point where it seems to try
to enable a dm-crypt partition which also carries /home, beside other
  data, and simply stalls.

I'm not asked to enter my crytpdisk password and I also cannot enter
  it blindly without being asked.

You can see the point where it stalls in the attached screenshot
  (photo of my screen).

I can then press Ctrl+Alt+Del to cleanly restart the system but I
could not find a way to get beyond this point with systemd.

Using the alternative boot option with upstart works flawlessly.
(Although booting with this boot option is really slow and it takes a
while to reach the graphical login screen - it basically looks as if
the system is waiting for some name resolving timeouts during boot,
but that's a different issue, if've not debugged it further and maybe
it's just gone once systemd works to boot my machine.)

  Further info about my setup:

  $ cat /etc/crypttab

  crypt /dev/mapper/main-cryptstore none luks,noearly,discard

  $ mount | egrep crypt
  /dev/mapper/crypt on /mnt/crypt type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)
  /dev/mapper/crypt on /home type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)
  /dev/mapper/crypt on /var/lib/mysql type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)

Here the first entry is the actual mount point while the other mount
  points are bind mounts:

  $ cat /etc/fstab | egrep crypt
  /dev/mapper/crypt /mnt/crypt ext4defaults0 2

  /mnt/crypt/home /home nonebind0 0

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466587] [NEW] PackageKit doesn't respect phased updates

2015-06-18 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu phased updates. As far as I can tell, they do not provide a way

The result is that utilities based on PackageKit disagree with Ubuntu's

Status in AppArmor Linux application security framework:

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:

Status in apparmor source package in Trusty:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  [impact]

This bug prevents dovecot users from using the apparmor policies shipped
in the apparmor-profiles package without significant modifications.

  [steps to reproduce]

  1) install and setup dovecot and confirm that it's functioning as
 expected
  2) install the apparmor-profiles package
  3) restart dovecot to ensure apparmor policies are being applied
  4) if this bug has been addressed, dovecot should start successfully
 without generating apparmor rejections

  [regression potential]

The change in the patch for this bug updates the dovecot policy to
match the most recent apparmor release (2.9.2). These add missing
policies, restructure a few things to common abstractions, and grant
additional permissions. Any regressions related to this patch would
be strictly limited to the policy for dovecot.

  [original description]

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Since last week I get these messages:

I tried to purge and reinstall apparmor(-profiles) but that didn't fix
this issue. I did a aa-disable dovecot and now the errors are gone.

  please drop build-dependency on g++-4.9

Status in unity-scope-click package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The unity-scope-click package currently has a build-dependency on
g++-4.9. This build-dependency is present because of the
recommendations on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/cpp-11 about handling of
  C++11.

The C++11 ABI has now stabilized in gcc as of gcc 5; however, before
we can switch to gcc 5, we first need to be able to do rebuild tests
of the archive against this compiler.

To facilitate this, please drop the build-dependency on g++-4.9 from
the package in wily. 4.9 will remain the default until all transition
issues have been identified, so there is no risk of accidental ABI
  breakage here anymore.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466608] [NEW] Unable to resolve domains with large EDNS0 replies

2015-06-18 Thread Ketil
Public bug reported:

Not sure resolvconf is the correct place to report this bug, but I'm
unable to resolve domains with large EDNS0 replies.

A couple of examples are www.sciencedaily.com and www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.
Interestingly, they resolve when I use dig domain, but if I enter a

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1462664] Re: [Ubuntu Phone] With WIFI = ON the GPS stops

2015-06-18 Thread Ilonka
Hi all!

I did also some tests and want to post my results:

I test GPS signal with WIFI = ON and location service = OFF - Then you
got no GPS signal in the Apps Here, Sensor Status, GPS Navigation

GPS signal WIFI = Off and location service = OFF - NO GPS signal in all
three Apps

WIFI = ON and location service = ON - GPS Signal was online but it
freezed sometimes in all three Apps. Actual GPS Signal only after
restart of the Apps. I also recognized that NearBy Scope showed that I
should be on a place which was about 250km away.

WIFI = OFF and location service = ON - GPS Signal was activ all the
time, GPS Navigation App wasn't freezed

I tested it with a BQ Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu 15.04 (r23)

  Hi!

  Steps:
  1. Enable WIFI = ON on phone.
  2. Run one of these apps: GPS Navigation, HERE maps, Sensor Status.
  3. Drive.
  4. When you'll be into a WIFI area as a town or city, I'm thinking the WIFI
will try to search WIFIs and then the GPS will stop, the GPS apps will not
receive more new positions from the GPS.

Extra info1: If you had GPS Navigation Sensor running, both of them
will not receive new GPS positions from the device. If you restart for
example GPS Navigation, GPS Navigation will receive new positions, but
Sensor Status not, until you restart it too.

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

  Thanks in advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1439771] Re: wpa_supplicant[874]: dbus: Failed to construct signal after 'suspend'

2015-06-18 Thread Jonathan Byrne
I'm seeing something very much like this (same syslog messages, e.g.)
but the differences are:

1) It's on a wired interface (802.1x wired)
2) Suspend isn't involved; it never works
3) Wireless 802.1x works perfectly on the same machine (although I haven't
tried suspending it; it's my work machine and is always lid-open in a dock)

Hardware is a new ThinkPad W541 with Ultradock (but wired 802.1x doesn't work
undocked, either).
OS is a fresh install of Ubuntu 15.04.

I'll try switching to Upstart later today and see if that helps; FWIW, I
booted a live 14.04 DVD and wired 802.1x didn't work there, either, so I
don't have high hopes for Upstart, but I'll try it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1295445] Re: Cursor size is not updated on HiDPI at intermediate UI scale levels

2015-06-18 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I see this too on an XPS13 9343 with external monitor. The cursor is
correctly sized when over certain windows (eg, firefox, chromium), but
small when over title bars, the panel, the background, the launcher and
some gtk UI elements (eg, parts of the calculator). This list is almost
certainly not exhaustive.

Bluetooth mouse fails to re-connect after sleep.

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This exact harware was working faultlessly in 13.04. Since re-
installing at 13.10 the mouse consistently failes to reconnect after
the device either hybernates or ever goes to screen saver sleep.

I have to remove the dive and re-add it each time (which works well).

There are other issues with the bluetooth stack as well in that I have
not found any way to use bluetooth tethering to my mobile which again
worked well and was easy to configure in 13.04

2015-06-18 Thread Serge Hallyn
Did you install a profile yourself for dnsmasq? Could you show the
result of

  sudo aa-status

? By default dnsmasq ships without a profile, but since you say it
happens intermittently I assume you do have a custom profile...

Please also show the result of:

lsb_release -r
ls -l /sbin/init

Title:
Autopilot helper to change scope is unreliable

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When using the autopilot helpers to swipe to a different scope I have
seen failures where the swipe operation sometimes does not work and so
the scope does not change. I've seen this on both krillin and mako.

The methods used are _scroll_to_left_scope() and _scroll_to_right_scope() in:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-team/unity8/trunk/view/head:/tests/autopilot/unity8/shell/emulators/dash.py

I found that by slowing down the speed of the swipe (using rate of 5
instead of 10) that the swipe operation was reliable.
