Attempt to login to ubuntu system and it fails, it shows the background but
nothing else. Troubleshooting led me to look at .xsession-errors which pointed
at upstart. Attempt to use upstart-udev-bridge on it's on and it says:
upstart-udev-bridge: Could not connect to
This appears to be due to LightDM trying to connect to these X servers
as 127.0.0.1:. I think this means it's trying to use
TCP/IP and failing. Since X.Org changed to TCP/IP disabled by default
this stopped working. Solution is to just connect to :.

Here's a first go of the patch. I need to clean it up and show
attribution, and what-not. I just wanted to share that there is
progress. I have also confirmed that it resolves the issue mentioned in
this bug as well as successfully completing the available testcases.

Now that the location-service component of this is getting addressed in
bug #1536774 I think we can make progress on this ticket and also on
sibling bug #1235300.. Bartosz, do you think your proposed icons still
make sense now that the GPS menuitem's been removed from the indicator
(bug #1351299)?
