[Touch-packages] [Bug 1648183] Re: Crackling and popping sound when using headphones
I'm also experiencing this exact issue. While it doesn't happen all the time, it's sufficiently frequent and unpleasant that I just can't listen to music through the audio jack. It's still an issue using the 4.9 mainline kernel. Using a USB sound card makes the problems go away. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1648183 Title: Crackling and popping sound when using headphones Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Laptop is HP Pavilion - 15-au118tx. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1443203] Re: GUFW blocks all incoming VNC connections even if rules allow
[Expired for ufw (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: ufw (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ufw in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443203 Title: GUFW blocks all incoming VNC connections even if rules allow Status in ufw package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I am having a problem with GUFW. I have it set to block incoming connections from everything. I then set rules to allow incoming connections from a VNC client on my local network to a VMWare Player VNC setup but no matter what I do with those rules, I cannot connect to the VNC server on my machine unless I change the setting for my profile to Allow for everything. Making and applying rules has no effect if the "Incoming" setting at the top of the application is set to Deny or Reject. The only other option is to turn off the firewall entirely for a moment for the VNC client to connect, and then turn it back on again once a connection is established. Allowing all incoming connections for even a few moments just to use VNC on one port is a security risk. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1652549] Re: package libkrb5support0 1.13.2+dfsg-5 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz', which is different
I've verified that the contents of /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz in libkrb5support0 1.13.2+dfsg-5 correctly matches across architectures. This looks like a problem of local filesystem corruption on your install. You can check this by installing the debsums package and running 'debsums /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz', which should return no mismatches. Also, the correct md5sum for this file is: $ md5sum /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz 553513278beb9f1512774d100fbd3176 /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz $ You should be able to resolve this problem either by running 'sudo apt install --reinstall libkrb5support0', or by manually removing /usr/share/doc/libkrb5support0/changelog.Debian.gz, and then installing libkrb5support0:i386. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1642973] Re: DNS stops working when changing networks
Sorry for not following up sooner. no further ideas how to debug, but I think it's reasonably clear this is a dnsmasq issue rather thana resolvconf issue. Reassigning. ** Package changed: resolvconf (Ubuntu) => dnsmasq (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1642973 Title: DNS stops working when changing networks Status in dnsmasq package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Since upgrading to 16.10 I am having frequent DNS failures. It usually happens when I change networks and after resume from suspend, for example going to home from work, or vice versa. Curiously I have not found this bug on Launchpad. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1651707] Re: ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2)
The global pool is certainly working and its DNS servers are resolving correctly: $ host 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 108.59.2.24 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 129.250.35.250 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 52.0.56.137 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org has address 72.14.179.135 Directly after the last occurrence of the resolver failure, your ntpd resolved a large list of pool servers, including 5 within the same second as the error message. Without knowing your configuration, I'd guess this was a network- manager-initiated restart, and your resolver setup simply wasn't finished by the time ntpd was asking for DNS names. If you're using the default ntp configuration (or similar to it), this will not be a problem, because ntpd will retry the DNS lookups. ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1651707 Title: ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2) Status in ntp package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: This is logged into journalctl: ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2) in fact, all of the x.ubuntu.pool servers fail oem@u64:~$ ntpq -p remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter == 0.ubuntu.pool.n .POOL. 16 p- 6400.0000.000 0.000 1.ubuntu.pool.n .POOL. 16 p- 6400.0000.000 0.000 2.ubuntu.pool.n .POOL. 16 p- 6400.0000.000 0.000 3.ubuntu.pool.n .POOL. 16 p- 6400.0000.000 0.000 ntp.ubuntu.com .POOL. 16 p- 6400.0000.000 0.000 +mica.ad-notam.n 131.188.3.2212 u 112 128 377 23.0041.092 1.416 +server1.webster 75.12.230.1812 u 64 128 377 22.9711.149 0.276 -postier.polylan 131.188.3.2232 u 37 128 377 20.9090.914 0.852 *www.mindstudios 145.238.203.14 2 u 120 128 377 17.6381.377 0.293 +server2.bertold 131.211.8.2442 u 156 128 372 27.8351.206 1.417 oem@u64:~$ journalctl | grep ntpd Dec 21 10:04:01 u64 audit[798]: AVC apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_load" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/sbin/ntpd" pid=798 comm="apparmor_parser" Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntp[1187]: * Starting NTP server ntpd Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1212]: ntpd 4.2.8p9@1.3265-o Fri Dec 16 07:29:13 UTC 2016 (1): Starting Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1212]: Command line: /usr/sbin/ntpd -p /var/run/ntpd.pid -g -u 118:129 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: proto: precision = 0.068 usec (-24) Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen and drop on 0 v6wildcard [::]:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen and drop on 1 v4wildcard 0.0.0.0:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen normally on 2 lo 127.0.0.1:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen normally on 3 eth1 192.168.1.3:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen normally on 4 lo [::1]:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listen normally on 5 eth1 [fe80::1d0d:5570:10c1:7a7c%3]:123 Dec 21 10:04:20 u64 ntpd[1243]: Listening on routing socket on fd #22 for interface updates Dec 21 10:04:52 u64 ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2) Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: error resolving pool 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Name or service not known (-2) Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 94.23.220.217 Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 37.59.27.22 Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 91.189.91.157 Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 178.33.111.47 Dec 21 10:05:17 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 37.187.2.84 Dec 21 10:05:18 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 94.23.0.110 Dec 21 10:05:18 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 194.177.34.115 Dec 21 10:05:19 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 5.196.160.139 Dec 21 10:05:19 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 195.154.79.192 Dec 21 10:05:26 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 62.210.28.176 Dec 21 10:05:27 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 195.154.71.176 Dec 21 10:05:27 u64 ntpd[1243]: Soliciting pool server 163.172.228.190 Dec 21 10:25:32 u64 ntpd[1243]: 178.33.111.47 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> Dec 21 10:28:09 u64 ntpd[1243]: 62.210.28.176 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> Dec 21 10:28:53 u64 ntpd[1243]: 194.177.34.115 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> Dec 21 10:36:46 u64 ntpd[1243]: 94.23.220.217 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> Dec 21 10:36:47 u64 ntpd[1243]: 5.196.160.139 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> Dec 21 10:36:53 u64 ntpd[1243]: 195.154.79.192 local addr 192.168.1.3 -> ProblemType: Bug

Hello Jason, or anyone else affected, Accepted initramfs-tools into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs- tools/0.103ubuntu4.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. [Touch-packages] [Bug 554009] Re: Resume from disk (swapfile) fails
As this bug was closed with "fix-released", I'm re-opening as another bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs- tools/+bug/1644975 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554009 Title: Resume from disk (swapfile) fails Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: initramfs-tools Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 fully updated as of today (2 apr 2010) AMD64 initramfs-tools 0.92bubuntu71 I can hibernate my notebook but when I try to wake it up again it starts with a normal boot. I would say it doesn't even *try* to resume. I'm using a swapfile and I configured the kernel command line accordingly: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-19-generic root=UUID=f0e784ed-e140-4d73-87a3-8ef047012b9f ro reboot=bios,warm resume=UUID=f0e784ed-e140-4d73-87a3-8ef047012b9f resume_offset=29470720 vga=0x315 quiet splash also my /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume file should be correct: resume=UUID=f0e784ed-e140-4d73-87a3-8ef047012b9f resume_offset=29470720 Nevertheless, when the pc boots I always get this in my dmesg, regardless if it was a real clean boot or if it was a boot after an hibernation: [0.778970] PM: Checking image partition UUID=f0e784ed-e140-4d73-87a3-8ef047012b9f [0.785267] PM: Resume from disk failed. My notebook is a dell precision m6400 and hibernation used to work fine (with the same setup) in karmic. I tried myself to narrow down this problem and I came out with this conclusion: In /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-premount/resume (which I suppose is used to see if a resume has to occur) there is a check on the type of hibernation (if any) happened with this line (almost at the end of the file): SWAPTYPE=$(wait-for-root "${resume}" ${RESUMEDELAY:-5}) It is my understanding (but I might be wrong) that the function "wait-for-root" can only check the partition whose UUID is passed as ${resume}, but it has no idea about the offset. So I think that it works only for swap partitions but not for swap files. I would like to make the hybernation/resume thing work for my laptop, so if I can be of any help testing things or if I can give any other info I'll be glad to do that. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1650319] Re: can't use keyboard after resume from suspend
I seem to have fixed this by adding `atkbd.reset` to my boot parameters. You can add them to `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX` and `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT` in `/etc/default/grub` then `sudo update- grub` for them to apply on every boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1650319 Title: can't use keyboard after resume from suspend Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Many times (around ~60% of them), resuming my laptop from suspend results in a not-working keyboard. Solution/Workaround is: close lid, let it suspend again, and try to resume until keyboard gets working again. Another solution is: plug an usb keyboard, and run something like "modprobe usbhid" or "modprobe hid", and this unblocks also the laptop keyboard. Probably this is a bug in the kernel, but I have not enough knowledge to understand where it is located (maybe we can add some systemd hooks in /lib/systemd to catch such events and reload the kernel modules?) [Touch-packages] [Bug 1652505] [NEW] Cannot connect to pulseaudio
Public bug reported: What I expect to happen: audio working like in Ubuntu 14.04 What is happening: programs cannot connect to pulseaudio server, the server itself isn't crashing. For example, pavuctl hangs on "connecting to pulseaudio", and all media applications are doing the same. It sometimes happens that one application (which opened connection to PA earlier) is still playing but new ones can't connect. pulseaudio -k && pulseaudio fixes this issue temporarly, until the next time it happens. The problem occurs multiple times per session. This is happening on 2 systems, one is not my own - a clean xubuntu 16.04 install - and the other is my own, where I tried various tweaks to default.pa to fix the problem. None worked. This happens with a clean default.pa too. I also tried installing oem-audio-hda-daily-lts-xenial- dkms and that did not help either. The errors reported in pulseaudio stderr are as following: E: [alsa-sink-ALC892 Analog] alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write. E: [alsa-sink-ALC892 Analog] alsa-sink.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers.
