[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607169] Re: Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working

2017-01-29 Thread André Fettouhi
It is the former. When in the Video scope tapping a video from Youtube
doesn't bring up a preview. I just get a empty screen and I can see the
progress bar below running for a few seconds and then it stops/gives up.
On the other hand if you tap a video from Vimeo then the preview shows
up fine and you tap the preview and the browser opens as expected.

Bug description:
I have a Meizu MX4 running the OTA-12 update as of this morning and
since OTA-9 I think clicking on a youtube in the video, music or
youtube scope doesn't do anything. Normally one would get a preview of
the youtube video along with a discription below and then you could
click the video again and the web browser would start up and play the
video. This still works for videos on Vimeo but not on Youtube. This
has been broken for months now. It also happens as mention in the
Music scope and Youtube scope. I was hopng that this would have been
fixed with the OTA-12 update since this update focused on bugs and
that you now could play videos directly from the Video scope. But
sadly no... Has there been an API change with Youtube that caused this
  breakage maybe?

calling
  QtGui.QApplication.setGraphicsSystem("opengl")
  produces the same errors.

I'm experiencing this problems on 11.10 and 12.04 with the ubuntu-

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1660242] Re: Thumbnailer should be packaged as a snap

2017-01-29 Thread Michi Henning
> Thumbnailer sounds like something that should already be part of other
snaps, not something that is potentially stand-alone...?

If each snap includes its own thumbnailer, each snap will redundantly
store thumbnails (making the idea of a cache much less useful).
Moreover, all the databases for the thumbnails will eat disk space like
crazy.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1660242] Re: Thumbnailer should be packaged as a snap

2017-01-29 Thread James Henstridge
thumbnailer-admin can't talk to thumbnailer-service. Ideally
communication like this between apps from a single snap should be
unrestricted:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy/+bug/1659724

thumbnailer-service hits problems due to missing gdk-pixbuf loader
cache. Seems to be an issue with desktop-launch script:

https://github.com/ubuntu/snapcraft-desktop-helpers/issues/42

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1655181] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-01-29 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From amo...@au1.ibm.com 2017-01-29 22:25 EDT---
I think both e4aa8a9 ("PowerPC64 ELFv1 undefined weak functions") and 7f27ccfc
("PR 20472, PowerPC64 ifunc confusion") should be left off 2.26 based binutils.

While the undefined weak fix is desirable, it broke ifunc and the
followup fix for ifunc dynamic relocation accounting confusion requires
other infrastructure changes that are not on 2.26. The backports
necessary are large enough that I think it would be better to simply
require 2.27 if we really want undefined weak to be fixed.

  P9 support in binutils

Bug description:
The upstream binutils (2.27 and trunk) is almost complete for POWER9,
but unfortunately the changes expected to land in DD2 hardware have
not yet been set in stone. With that said, the remaining changes are
fairly small and will only affect user space; there are no kernel
dependencies on the unresolved architecture changes.

Binutils version 2.27 is already in Ubuntu 17.04. Is there anything

Well, as long as they pick up the backported fixes, nothing else is
required. That's what this feature is there to ensure.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1458322] Re: NetworkManager doesn't hide virtual interfaces (e.g. Docker, VMWare)

2017-01-29 Thread Oh the Huge Manatee
I tried it out on 1.2.2, since that's the version I have to work with. I
also had to patch applet-device-ethernet.c , otherwise it still listed
the header for each interface. Pushed my version up to
https://github.com/ohthehugemanatee/network-manager-applet for
convenience.

I only applied this hiding behavior to ethernet interfaces, because this
ticket is specific to virtual ethernet interfaces from docker, vagrant,
etc. I'm sure there are people who would like to hide other unmanaged
interfaces, too. TBH I would prefer a flag for "show-unmanaged", but
that discussion probably belongs in a separate ticket.

Patch attached. Sorry if the format isn't right, this is my first
contribution here.

** Patch added: "Hide unmanaged ethernet interfaces"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1623666] Re: iOS device contents not displayed in Ubuntu

2017-01-29 Thread J. McDonald
I attempted following the instructions in #28 and I only got this far:

  $ cd ~/path/to/my/build/dir
  $ git clone https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice.git
  $ cd libimobiledevice
  $ ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local/libimobiledevice
  $ make

and then I got the following message:

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I have no idea what this means.

Vauge discussion that mentions using the latest git HEAD*:

*This discussion is quite vague. One comment points out "iOS 10
devices don't allow SSLv3 anymore but require at least TLSv1", but not
how or if that has been fixed in libimobiledevice git HEAD.

This ppa packages the git version and may resolve the issue:

https://launchpad.net/~martin-salbaba/+archive/ubuntu/ppa+libimobiledevice/+packages

There are several other upstream reports related to this problem.

Partial success patch (idevicepair only) trying to keep GnuTLS:
  https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice/issues/413

Failure with GnuTLS, Success with OpenSSL:
  https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/issues/145

  Ubuntu packages libimobiledevice with "--disable-openssl":
  https://github.com/libimobiledevice/ifuse/issues/32

Duplicate bug 1638177 suggests to repackage libimobiledevice using
OpenSSL to avoid this problem, as per comment 27 below.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607169] Re: Youtube Videos in Video Scope are not working

2017-01-29 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Sorry that this doesn’t work for you André. Can you please describe in details
what you’re observing? Do I understand correctly that when in the video scope,
tapping on one video won’t even open the preview with the description? Or does
it open but then the browser fails to open/play it?
If the former, this sounds like a problem in the video scope itself.

Title:
network-manager after suspend showing arrow icon instead of wifi icon
  and showing no wifi networks

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As requested by Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (cyphermox) in bug #1589401
I'm creating my own bug report.

  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
  Release: 16.04

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname'
or by checking in Software Center
  $ apt-cache policy network-manager
  network-manager:
Installiert: 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3
Installationskandidat: 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3
Versionstabelle:
   *** 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 500

Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
   1.1.93-0ubuntu4 500
  500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

  3) What you expected to happen
I'm connected by WiFi only, not by a wired connection. I expect to see the
WiFi icon anytime while being connected to my WiFi network. Also, I expect to
see all the WiFi networks around me (at least one other network with good
reception and about 3 with bad reception).

  4) What happened instead
After waking up the laptop from suspend, there appears the ethernet icon
(arrow symbols) instead of the WiFi icon.
Also, in this state there are no other WiFi networks visible in the
network-manager.
However, the laptop is still connected with my WiFi and the connection works
as usual.
Using "service network-manager restart" in the console I can get the wireless
icon back and all the other networks around me are visible again.
This can be reproduced anytime and with 100% "success rate". The problem
appeared with Ubuntu 16.10 and was persistent since.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 735675] Re: bzdiff does not pass -I option to diff

2017-01-29 Thread Ben Hutchings
This patch is broken:

1. $OPTIONS is used (unquoted) in 4 different places but this patch only
updates one of them
2. Quoting $OPTIONS prevents use of multiple options

Unfortunately I don't see a reasonable way to fix this while using only
POSIX shell features.

- If bzdiff is changed to use bash then the options can be accumulated into an
array variable. This would be fine in Debian and Ubuntu, but not upstream.
- POSIX allows positional arguments to be used in an array-like way, but we
already use them for the filenames.
- This could be done by escaping, quoting and concatenating the options and
then using eval to expand to multiple arguments. But this is not what I would
consider reasonable!

Title:
bzdiff does not pass -I option to diff

Status in bzip2 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: bzip2

When trying to use bzdiff with the -I option (ignore regex), the
options are not properly passed to diff. I have 2 files (MySQL dumps)
that differ in only one line:

  $ bzdiff tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2
  9c9
  < -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 1:06:50
  ---
  > -- Dump completed on 2011-03-11 0:40:11

However, when trying to avoid that line from matching a problem
  arises:

  $ ./bzdiff_orig -I'Dump completed' tmp1.bz2 tmp2.bz2
  diff: extra operand `/tmp/bzdiff.JnwGRlHnMM'
diff: Try `diff --help' for more information.

After some attempts at quoting and unquoting, I solved the problem by
modifying the bzdiff shell script at /bin/bzdiff.

The issues were 2: i) the options were not correctly parsed, a space
was added before the first option, and ii) the options were not passed
quoted to diff, therefore they were incorrectly interpreted as a file
and not an option. Will include a patch.

  Version info:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 10.10

  $ apt-cache policy bzip2
  bzip2:
Installed: 1.0.5-4ubuntu1

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589289] Re: fstrim: cannot open /dev/.lxd-mounts: Permission denied

2017-01-29 Thread Simon Déziel
On my containers using the "dir" storage backend,
/etc/cron.weekly/fstrim outputs:

fstrim: cannot open /dev/.lxd-mounts: Permission denied
fstrim: /dev/lxd: FITRIM ioctl failed: Operation not permitted
fstrim: /: FITRIM ioctl failed: Operation not permitted

/dev/sda on /dev/.lxd-mounts type ext4
(rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,data=ordered)

** Description changed:

+ fstrim weekly cronjob output in an unprivileged LXD container:

  /etc/cron.weekly/fstrim:
fstrim: cannot open /dev/.lxd-mounts: Permission denied
  fstrim: /dev/fuse: not a directory
fstrim: /dev/lxd: FITRIM ioctl failed: Operation not permitted

  There is a github issue:

  https://github.com/lxc/lxd/issues/2030

The outcome is that it's purely an fstrim misbehaviour, it could be
  smarter.

  Stephane Graber comment:

As all of this is handled by the kernel, there isn't anything we can do
  about it in LXD.

I think fstrim should be made slightly more clever:

  * Don't run on bind-mounts (you can detect bind-mounts by parsing
/proc/self/mountinfo instead of /proc/mounts)
  * Maybe not be as noisy on expected errors like EACCES, EPERM and ENOENT,
only log actual failures which would likely be EINVAL or memory related errors.

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I can confirm that this typo is still present in openssh 1:7.4p1-6 on
Ubuntu Zesty, more specifically in the file clientloop.c. It looks like
this issue isn't introduced by packaging in Debian/Ubuntu, but seems to
be in openssh itself. I wonder if a fix should be forwarded there.

Title:
systemd-resolve: fallback from resolve causes lookup of local network
  hosts to fail

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.10 from 16.04, DNS resolution of hosts on
  my local network fails.

The hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf is:
  hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] resolve
[!UNAVAIL=return] dns mdns4

  If I change it to:
  hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4

I can resolve hosts on my local network. Appending .local to the
hostname also allows DNS resolution since systemd-resolve returns a
  different error for that case.

  Ex:
  systemd-resolve rt-ac66u
rt-ac66u: resolve call failed: All attempts to contact name servers or
networks failed

  systemd-resolve rt-ac66u.local
rt-ac66u.local: resolve call failed: No appropriate name servers or networks
for name found

"dig rt-ac66u" returns the correct ip.
