[Touch-packages] [Bug 1741398] Re: Commented line in sudoers file breaks sudo
Wow, OK apologies for wasting everyone's time in that case but I have to say that its pretty confusing. Even within the sudoers file there are comments prefixed by a hash. But if your comment happens to start with #include it magically becomes active. I now understand this is the intended behaviour, but in that case I'd humbly suggest that there should be another, better way of doing includes. Also, perhaps visudo should throw an error when it finds an #include that doesn't exist, rather than just exiting and then sudo refusing to do anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to sudo in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741398 Title: Commented line in sudoers file breaks sudo Status in sudo package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04 Amazon AWS image. sudo: Installed: 1.8.16-0ubuntu1.5 Used sudo visudo to edit /etc/sudoers file from the ubutntu admin user At the bottom of the file is a line #includedir /etc/sudoers.d I added a couple of lines at the end of the file to give permissions to another user. I accidentally hit backspace and altered the includedir line so it looked like this #includedir /etc/sudoercs I couldn't remember what the actual directory was at the time, but I thought, hey, its a commented line, it doesn't matter anyway. I was wrong. So visudo saved the file OK, but from then on, no valid sudo commands would work for any user. Including sudo visudo of course. Its an AWS instance, so no root login. Only recourse was to detach the volume, re-attach it to another instance, fix the spelling mistake. So obviously sudo freaked when the directory given didn't exist. But why would it, if the line is a comment? Something obviously wrong here. And given the lack of root, a particularly irritating and time consuming one. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1577197] Re: Pulseaudio bluez5-util.c: TryAcquire() failed - Operation Not Authorized
Im still experiencing this problem on Ubuntu 17.10 (very infrequently). I'm getting: [pulseaudio] bluez5-util.c: Transport TryAcquire() failed for transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_00_0C_8A_86_6A_94/fd0 (Operation Not Authorized) often even in between 2 videos on youtube. This will freeze any video playing btw. I can resolve with `pulseaudio -k` and repairing the bluetooth device. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577197 Title: Pulseaudio bluez5-util.c: TryAcquire() failed - Operation Not Authorized Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in indicator-sound package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Pulseaudio outright stops audio via Bluetooth after sleep or prolonged period of time. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1722508] Re: Font hinting appears broken on 17.10 beta
Hi Martin, Thanks for the tip! Defining the FREETYPE_PROPERTIES as you suggested in /etc/environment did indeed disable hinting and renders the same crisper fonts as was in earlier versions of Ubuntu. Personally, I still prefer to disable hinting in the source code but your suggestion works just as well. Thanks again! The issue is easy to miss if you have antialiasing enabled system- wise. However, if you install "gnome-tweak-tool" and disable antialiasing there, the problem becomes obvious. Here is how it looks on 17.10 beta: https://postimg.org/image/3auqsbkqtn/ And here is how it looks on my 16.04 machine (and this is pretty much how it's supposed to look): https://postimg.org/image/85n5ss3l4b/ * When comparing the pictures make sure you "Open image in new tab" and see them without browser zoom, otherwise the problem may no be obvious. I suspect that this issue is caused by a bug in some base font rendering package that Ubuntu uses (edit: the problem is probably caused by FreeType 2.8.0, see my comments below). A couple of months ago a similar issue was reported (and promptly fixed) in Chromium after they had changed something in FreeType rendering (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=748997). lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch) Release: 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qt/+bug/1722508/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1741398] Re: Commented line in sudoers file breaks sudo
Hi, Thanks for reporting this issue, but that is not a comment at all. >From the sudoers man page: It is possible to include other sudoers files from within the sudoers file currently being parsed using the #include and #includedir direc‐ tives. While # is used in some applications to indicate the start of a comment, it is not the case in the sudoers file. It's also not the case in other situations too, for example, in a C file. I am closing this bug. ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to sudo in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741398 Title: Commented line in sudoers file breaks sudo Status in sudo package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04 Amazon AWS image. sudo: Installed: 1.8.16-0ubuntu1.5 Used sudo visudo to edit /etc/sudoers file from the ubutntu admin user At the bottom of the file is a line #includedir /etc/sudoers.d I added a couple of lines at the end of the file to give permissions to another user. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1718771] Re: Incorrect handling of link-local IPv6 DNS servers
Digging into this, there appears to be intent to support such DNS servers. E.g.: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/2817157bb705e0f3e9ad4a83246a80d026866be3 However, need to check if all fe80:: dns servers are properly qualified and have the ifindex set on them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718771 Title: Incorrect handling of link-local IPv6 DNS servers Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd source package in Artful: Confirmed Bug description: We've recently seen odd looking DNS failures on autopkgtest: https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_77e2ada1e7a84929a74ba3b87153c0ac/autopkgtest-artful/artful/amd64/d/docker.io/20170921_065231_181b8@/log.gz This shows a fe80:: link-local IPv6 address as one of the DNS servers on the interface. That's because dnsmasq includes both the link-local and global addresses of its DNS server in the router advertisement. systemd-networkd appears to pick that up and send it to resolved, which includes it in its config but apparently doesn't know how to actually query it, leading to the failure above. This is racy because once DHCPv4 completes, the resolved config will then work properly again. I've confirmed that dnsmasq properly answers on all addresses: http://paste.ubuntu.com/25588197/ I've uploaded a workaround for this issue as part of the docker.io package.
