Title:
[HP Elitebook 840 G1] Screen is upside down on 19.04 daily

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On the 19.04 daily image (2019-03-24), the screen on my laptop is
completely upside down, from the moment the GUI loads. This does not
  happen on 18.04 and 18.10.

It appears to be an accelerometer issue since holding the laptop
upside down flips the image to its correct orientation - basically the
functionality of the accelerometer is suddenly inverted.

Please contact me if you want me to help testing the issue on my hardware.
Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1824753] Re: When I pass the Qt application to the secondary monitor the characters of the application increase

2019-05-19 Thread Patrick
My knowledge (of language and so on) is very basic, I am using a web
translator. It is very difficult for me to advertise on the web
? If someone can or wants to do it I will be very
grateful. I can provide as much information as required.
Thank you, greetings.

Hi. I have recently installed Ubuntu 19.04 RC. Everything works fine except
the Qt applications. I have two monitors and when I pass the Qt application to

Flatpak and Snap. I leave you a video in which you can see the problem with the

I've encountered an easily reproducible segfault using the Firefox OS
emulator while I was hacking the said operating. The Firefox OS emulator
[1] is a fork of the Android emulator which is in turn a fork of qemu.
In both cases the graphics part is untouched so it might be possible to
reproduce the same issue in qemu even though I didn't have the time to
try it.

Here's my full STR:

1) Build the Firefox OS emulator using the emulator-x86-kk target device ( git
clone https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/B2G.git ; cd B2G ; ./config.sh
emulator-x86-kk ; ./build.sh )
2) Launch it from the tree using the run-emulator.sh script
3) Once Firefox OS has started quickly click on any application and keep
clicking on buttons / input boxes / etc... The segfault will normally happen in
a matter of seconds

I've reproduced the bug both on Fedora 22 and Gentoo so it doesn't look
like distro-specific, these are the versions number taken from my Gentoo
installation:

xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.11
libdrm 2.4.59
mesa 10.3.7
xorg-server 1.16.4
kernel 4.0.5

I've captured a stack trace of the segfault with gdb:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

I'm attaching the kernel log and the X log. Those may be "polluted" by
other stuff as my machine has been running for some time since I've hit
the bug. I'll try to provide cleaner ones right after I hit the bug. If
more detailed information is needed (e.g. a backtrace with finer-grained
debug information, etc...) I can provide it given some time to gather
it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1829671] Re: Alt + TAB + Shift TAB fixes momentum physics >:]

2019-05-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

in launchpad.

Autostart doesn't work over native -protocol-tcp

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
This isn't necessarily a bug, but when receiving audio through module-
native-protocol-tcp the server does not autostart when audio is being
played on the client. The result is that the server must be started
manually on the receiving machine before sound is output on the
sending machine, unless the exit-idle-time on the server is set to -1.
I am streaming over the localhost from withing a chroot, and this it
is a serious resource drain to have exit-idle disabled.

Is there a way to configure autostart when using native-protocol-tcp?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1828883] Re: systemd sysv-compatibility eats exit codes

2019-05-19 Thread Bug Watch Updater
** Changed in: systemd
   Status: Unknown => Fix Released

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828883

Title:
  systemd sysv-compatibility eats exit codes

Status in systemd:
  Fix Released
Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Systemd properly honors an exit code of 6 when creating a native
  service, like so:

  ---8<---
  ranger@carolina:/lib/systemd/system$ cat exitcode.service
  [Unit]
  Description=Test Exit Code (Systemd)

  [Service]
  Type=oneshot
  ExecStart=/bin/bash -c 'exit 6'

  [Install]
  WantedBy=default.target
  ranger@carolina:/lib/systemd/system$ sudo systemctl start exitcode
Job for exitcode.service failed because the control process exited with error
code.
See "systemctl status exitcode.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
  ranger@carolina:/lib/systemd/system$ echo $?
  1
  ---8<---

However, the equivalent SysV init file improperly returns an exit code
of 0 when starting under the compatibility layer:

  ---8<---
  ranger@carolina:/etc/init.d$ cat exitcode
  #! /bin/sh

  ### BEGIN INIT INFO
  # Provides: exitcode
  # Required-Start:$local_fs
  # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
  # Default-Stop: 0 1 6
  # Short-Description: Test Exit Code (SysV)
  # Description: Test case for Systemd SysV compatibility layer
  ### END INIT INFO

  exit 6
  ranger@carolina:/etc/init.d$ sudo systemctl enable exitcode
exitcode.service is not a native service, redirecting to systemd-sysv-install.
  Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install enable exitcode
  ranger@carolina:/etc/init.d$ sudo systemctl start exitcode
  ranger@carolina:/etc/init.d$ echo $?
  0
  ---8<---

Even if I change the script to do `exit 1` it still returns exit code
  0.

These are tiny examples but we are hitting it in the real world with
the startup scripts for the OpenNMS Debian/Ubuntu packages, which
return exit code 6 (LSB "not configured") when there are leftover
upgrade files in `/etc/opennms`. The OpenNMS startup is not properly
failing on attempted startup in this case.

Bug description:
  (kbd)
  [Impact]

   * kbd_mode -u is documented to break keyboards in modes other than xlate and
unicode, while it is still called by some scripts. Those scripts are called
transitively by maintainer scripts such as the one already fixed in
console-setup.
   * To avoid accidentally breaking keyboards a -f option is added to force
such breaking mode changes. Without -f only the safe mode changes are performed
and an error is printed when the requested mode change is not safe. Next
upstream version will also exit with error, but the cherry-picked fix makes
kbd_mode return success even when the mode switch is not performed to avoid
regressions of scripts.

  [Test case]

   * Verify that safe mode switches work and dangerous ones are skipped
without -f. Please note that the test will temporarily break the
system's keyboard and it is recommended to run the test in a VM.

  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -C /dev/tty4; echo $?
The keyboard is in Unicode (UTF-8) mode

  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -a -C /dev/tty4; echo $?

  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -u -C /dev/tty0; echo $?
The keyboard is in some unknown mode
Changing to the requested mode may make your keyboard unusable, please use -f
to force the change.
  0
  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -f -u -C /dev/tty0; echo $?
  0
  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -C /dev/tty0
The keyboard is in Unicode (UTF-8) mode
  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -s -C /dev/tty0
  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -C /dev/tty0
The keyboard is in raw (scancode) mode
  rbalint@MacBookAir-test:~$ sudo kbd_mode -u -C /dev/tty0; echo $?
The keyboard is in raw (scancode) mode
Changing to the requested mode may make your keyboard unusable, please use -f
to force the change.
  0

  [Regression Potential]

   * kbd_mode stops performing breaking mode switches and this may make
scripts ineffective when trying to perform a breaking change. This is
the intention of the change and the emitter error helps in finding the
  offending script.

The following packages found to call kbd_mode directly:
  console-setup
  xinit
  console-cyrillic
  initramfs-tools
  dracut
  console-tools
  xview
  ubiquity's embedded console-setup copy
  console-data
  vnc4

The console related packages are expected to execute only safe mode
changes because they should operate on consoles only and the rest seem
  to be safe, too.

  (console-setup)
  [Impact]

   * keyboard-configuration's postinst changes keyboard mode breakin

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1829667] [NEW] Autostart doesn't work over native -protocol-tcp

2019-05-19 Thread Allan Stott
Public bug reported:

This isn't necessarily a bug, but when receiving audio through module-
native-protocol-tcp the server does not autostart when audio is being
played on the client. The result is that the server must be started
manually on the receiving machine before sound is output on the sending
machine, unless the exit-idle-time on the server is set to -1. I am
streaming over the localhost from withing a chroot, and this it is a
serious resource drain to have exit-idle disabled.

Is there a way to configure autostart when using native-protocol-tcp?

This is the only time "/usr/lib/debug" is searched, generally
  "/srv/vms/apport-sandbox-dir/Ubuntu 19.04/amd64/report-

2019-05-19 Thread FrankStefani
Maybe another detail: After a perfect running setup (1 + 3 printers
o.k.) I shutted the system down and made a cold start about 10 secs
later. Immediately after a normal user login, I opened a terminal and
started the following loop:

% while true; do date && lpstat -s; sleep 10; done

Here are the first couple of loops - exactly every 10 seconds - and then
the unexpected one (printers disappeard again) after 11 seconds,
followed by more 1ß second loops:

% while true; do date && lpstat -s; sleep 10; done

  Description:Ubuntu 19.04
  Release:19.04

  ###-
  ### NOTE starting point
  ###-
My printing system for the last 12-15 years based on cups had/has the
following setup:

  * 1 network laser printer "Brother MFC 9142CDN"
  * 3 "symbolic" printers which are copies of the former, configured to set
defaults for particular uses: "monoprinter" (grayscale), "colorprinter" (full
color) and "labelprinter" (use of manual feed)

The "Brother MFC 9142CDN" was instantly discovered and completely PPD
configured and successfully tested with a fresh Lubuntu-19.04 install,
  last week.

  Description:Ubuntu 19.04
  Release:19.04

  ###-
  ### NOTE starting point
  ###-
My printing system for the last 12-15 years based on cups had/has the
following setup:

  * 3 "symbolic" printers which are copies of the former, configured to set
defaults for particular uses: "monoprinter" (grayscale), "colorprinter" (full
color) and "labelprinter" (use of manual feed)

The "Brother MFC 9142CDN" was instantly discovered and completely PPD
configured and successfully tested with a fresh Lubuntu-19.04 install,
  last week.

The "Brother MFC 9142CDN" was instantly discovered and completely PPD
configured and successfully tested with a fresh Lubuntu-19.04 install,
  last week.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 859060] Re: totem-plugin-viewer crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_is_a()

2019-05-19 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days
time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
