[Touch-packages] [Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login

2020-01-04 Thread Bill Duetschler
I have an Nvidia based video card that has 2 DVI outputs, an HDMI
output, a DisplayPort output. I have 2 monitors that are plugged in to
the DVI outputs, and nothing plugged in to the HDMI or DP outputs. And
still, XUbuntu insists on switching audio to the HDMI outputs that have
nothing plugged into them.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  On my freshly installed eoan system I have two output devices:
  - HDMI/DisplayPort 2 - GK208 ...
  - Line Out - Family 17h ...

  When I login into the system pulseaudio always select the "wrong"
  one (HDMI) and I need to go to gnome-settings/Sound/Output Device
  and switch to "line out". This applies to every login/logout not
  just reboots.

  [Test Case]

  0. Plug in a monitor that supports HDMI audio (one that appears in
  your Settings>Sound)

  1. Log out and in again.

  Verify the default audio device in Settings is still speakers or
  headphones. Not the monitor's HDMI audio device.

  [Regression Potential]

  Low. The fix proposed just reverts to the same code used in PulseAudio
  12 and earlier. It has also been released and verified on focal
  already.

  [Workaround]

  Comment out:

  load-module module-switch-on-port-available
  load-module module-switch-on-connect

  from /etc/pulse/default.pa

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1647285] Re: SSL trust not system-wide

2020-01-04 Thread Harout S. Hedeshian
Like others, I'm manually symlinking .so files on all of my interactive
hosts and hoping updates don't break it. IMO this is not a valid
workaround.

@ahasenack - I understand this is a roadmap item that would ideally
resolve for multiple packages, but it seems that the Mozilla products
are the worst offenders at the moment. I don't see anyone requesting
anything else in this bug. Would it be possible to at least resolve it
for Firefox and Thunderbird? What would it take to get this looked at
for the next LTS?

For now, Thunderbird needs this too (and works for me on 18.0.3 LTS):

sudo mv /usr/lib/firefox/libnssckbi.so /usr/lib/firefox/libnssckbi.so.bak
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so
/usr/lib/firefox/libnssckbi.so
sudo mv /usr/lib/thunderbird/libnssckbi.so
/usr/lib/thunderbird/libnssckbi.so.bak
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so
/usr/lib/thunderbird/libnssckbi.so

Bug description:
  When I install a corporate CA trust root with update-ca-certificates,
  it doesn't seem to work everywhere. Various things like Firefox,
  Evolution, Chrome, etc. all fail to trust the newly-installed trusted
  CA.

  This ought to work, and does on other distributions. In p11-kit there
  is a module p11-kit-trust.so which can be used as a drop-in
  replacement for NSS's own libnssckbi.so trust root module, but which
  reads from the system's configured trust setup instead of the hard-
  coded version.

  This allows us to install the corporate CAs just once, and then file a
  bug against any package that *doesn't* then trust them.

  See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SharedSystemCertificates
  for some of the historical details from when this feature was first
  implemented, but this is all now supported upstream and not at all
  distribution-specific. There shouldn't be any significant work
  required; it's mostly just a case of configuring and building it to
  make use of this functionality. (With 'alternatives' to let you
  substitute p11-kit-trust.so for the original NSS libnssckbi.so, etc.)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1858285] Re: SSH not honoring use of ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

2020-01-04 Thread Timothy Yates
Update, possible workaround. Still a bug that needs permanently fixed
as other distros honor ~/.ssh/authorized_keys properly with settings in
/etc/ssh/sshd_config

use a directive within the ~/.ssh/config file but seems it requires both
private and public keys to be present/exchanged for the required hosts.

host short_hostname
hostname IPaddr_or_FQDN
user username
port 22 or other port if not 22
identityfile /home/username/.ssh/private_key_filename

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1858293] [NEW] Missing repeated characters

2020-01-04 Thread Wes Z
Public bug reported:

Nano 2.9.3
 Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS - Linux 4.14.157-171 armv7l
 ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)

 Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS - Linux 4.9.196-63 aarch64
Amlogic S922X rev a (4 A73 + 2 A53)

This issue is repeatable on more than 6 each different machines of the above
configurations.
I am using ssh via Putty to log in via terminal screen.
I am using nano defaults. I have not changed anything nor do I open with any
arguments. I use nano and it's not associated with any extension. It
behaves the same for all files, even no extension files.
Nano is not changing the file, it's just not displaying correctly. The
characters are there and they save properly, they're just not visible on the
terminal screen.

Using WinSCP presents no issues as I am using my local Windows text
editor.

If I use vi to view the file there are no problems.
If I use cat to view the file there are no problems.
If I use tail to view the file there are no problems

I do not experience this issue on:
Nano 2.5.3
Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS - Linux 4.14.5-92 armv7l
ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)

If I take any file that has repeat characters such as:

-
|||

Nano 2.9.3 will not display all of the continuous repeat characters in
the row. For example:

Copy and paste is displayed as:
# <-- But end of line is correct
If I copy that line from the file in nano editor and paste it into another non
nano editor I get:
#
as the paste result

This is the same for all different repeated characters.
If I keyboard type ## nano will display it until
nano is closed and then the same file is reopened. Then it's same as above, one
# but end of line is correct.

Pasting:
#   ++  ++  ++  ++
#   ||  ||  ||  ||
# >CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->
# >CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->
# >DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->
#   ||  ||  ||  ||
#   ++  ++  ++  ++

into nano results in displayed:
# +-+  +-+  +-+  +-+
# | |  | |  | |  | |
# >CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->
# >CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->
# >DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->
# | |  | |  | |  | |
# +-+  +-+  +-+  +-+
while nano is still open.
Close the file and view in cat, vi or tail and it is show properly..

Pasting:
#   ++  ++  ++  ++
#   ||  ||  ||  ||
# >CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->||>CLK->
# >CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->||>CS ->
# >DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->||>DIN->
#   ||  ||  ||  ||
#   ++  ++  ++  ++

using vi editor
then save file and open file in nano results in:
# +-+  +-+  +-+  +-+
# | |  | |  | |  | |
# >CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->| |>CLK->
# >CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->| |>CS ->
# >DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->| |>DIN->
# | |  | |  | |  | |
# +-+  +-+  +-+  +-+

Title:
  bugs in libvdpau_radeonsi.so and amdgpu(or radeon) driver freeze the
  system

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  1. In 4.15 kernel serires ,vlc or mpv video player with hardware
  acceleration output will freeze the system in minutes ,the
  desktop screen display content was frozen ,but sometime the audio
  will continue to play for about 10 seconds to one miniute,then the
  system dead。I have to reset the machine to reboot. When upgrade to
  5.3.24 kernel,amdgpu still hanged immediately,but play video through
  vdpau in radeon driver the system will no hang immediately,the
  freqency of hanging is about serveral times a day。 some times web
  browser in virtualbox guest randomly hangs the system。

  2. installing amdgpu-pro driver download from amd official site
  (version of  18.40-697810,18.50-756341,19.10-785425,19.30-934563) are
  all the same problem with above.

  3. remove libvdpau_radeonsi.so.1.0.0 in the system from ubuntu
  or installed in /opt/amdgpu by amdgpu-pro driver solved the problem
  . the system has never been freezing for several weeks ,but the
  problem happened again when I restore the libvdpau_radeonsi.so file。

  4.When use amdgpu driver the vlc output sound via display output port
(through an active hdmi adaptor to hdmi monitor) was glitches ,the sound seem
missing or dropped in every 2~3 seconds,but when use radeon driver the sound
was normal.the audio problem is the same with 4.15 kernel when using kernel
5.3.24. But mplayer sound is always good ,testing with audio output of
pulseaduio and alsa ,the kernel driver only affected the sound of vlc (tested
with all available audio output ),the other applications was normal.

  5. Test with the ubuntu 19.10 live image desktop is the same problem。

  6. My system have four monitors,graphics card is R7 360 ,recognized as
