[Touch-packages] [Bug 1892807] Re: Error updating 8/24/2020 package libffi8ubuntu1 (possibly renamed from libffi8.1.0)
Fair enough, but it literally says right above the check box. Use proposed updates if you're willing to report bugs on any problems that occur. So something is wrong at least in terms of when you do move it into the main repo. But you also might want to remove that text if you don't want people to use it and report bugs. :x -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to libffi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892807 Title: Error updating 8/24/2020 package libffi8ubuntu1 (possibly renamed from libffi8.1.0) Status in libffi package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Hello just updated like I do most days on 20.10 and I got this dependency issue. However this does not work, as the partition gets unmounted before or during libvirt suspend. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use Ubuntu 18.04.02 LTS 2. Install libvirt + qemu-kvm 3. Start a guest 4. Set libvirt-guests to suspend at shutdown/reboot by editing /etc/default/libvirt-guests 5. Create a fstab entry to mount a separate partition to mount point /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/save. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1832859]
Based on the report here, this affects only setups with custom services/systemd units. Also, the blk-availability/blkdeactivate has been in RHEL7 since 7.0 and this seems to be the only report we have received so far (therefore, I don't expect much users to be affected by this issue). Also, I think it's less risk adding the extra dependency as already described here https://access.redhat.com/solutions/4154611 than splitting the blk-availability / blkdeactivate into (at least) two parts running at different times. Also, if we did this, we'd need to introduce a new synchronization point (like a systemd target) that other services would need to depend on (and so it would require much more changes in various other components which involves risks). In future, we'll try to cover this shutdown scenario in a more proper way with new Storage Instantiation Daemon (SID). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lvm2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1832859 Title: during shutdown libvirt-guests gets stopped after file system unmount Status in lvm2: New Status in libvirt package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in lvm2 package in Ubuntu: New Status in lvm2 package in Fedora: In Progress Bug description: When using automatic suspend at reboot/shutdown, it makes sense to store the suspend data on a separate partition to ensure there is always enough available space. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1884583] Re: vim is dependent on libcanberra0 in Ubuntu 20.04, had no such dependency in Ubuntu 18.04
Upstream says they will not remove the sound library and its indirect freedesktop theme (35 sound files) dependencies because it's not a big deal, and it's not X so technically it's still 'nox'. I don't think this is sane for a package installed on many servers to start bringing in desktop requirements, but the maintainer is firm. I'm hoping Ubuntu will consider overriding Debian and adding --disable- canberra to their vim-nox build. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to vim in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884583 Title: vim is dependent on libcanberra0 in Ubuntu 20.04, had no such dependency in Ubuntu 18.04 Status in vim package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: which pulls in libasound and some alsa packages which I am not sure why it is useful and desired on most text-only/headless systems. In Debian I also see this dependency arisen with Bullseye/testing and Sid/unstable (but not with Buster/stable) but I don't see any mention of this introduction and its usefulness in the package's changelog. Could the reason of this dependency creation please be investigated, its usefulness evaluated, and if possible, this dependency to be made optional for vim builds ? Surprisingly, installing vim-nox also pulls in libcanberra0. vim-tiny does not pull in libcanberra0, but it also does not have syntax highlighting. What should I do to have syntax highlighting without libcanberra0 overhead ? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1861451] Re: apport's cloud-init-specific handling tracebacks on minimal cloud images
I tested this in an Ubuntu 18.04 lxc container and removed the policykit-1 package. With the version of apport in -updates I received the Traceback which appears in the bug description. After that I installed the version of apport from -proposed and I did not receive a Traceback. ubuntu@darling-horse:~$ apt-cache policy apport apport: Installed: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.17 Candidate: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.17 Version table: *** 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.17 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-proposed/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.16 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security/main amd64 Packages 2.20.9-0ubuntu7 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-bionic ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apport in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861451 Title: apport's cloud-init-specific handling tracebacks on minimal cloud images Status in apport package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apport source package in Bionic: Fix Committed Status in apport source package in Focal: Invalid Bug description: Impact -- It is not possible to run ubuntu-bug for some packages which gather information as root because pkexec does not work in non-graphical environments (LP: #1821415). Regression Potential Little as we are just returning and empty list if pkexec is not available, however it is always possible that the code is misformated or that there is a logic error in it. A regression test would be to run the ubuntu-bug cloud-init on a system with pkexec installed. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to python3-defaults in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892715 Title: package python3 3.7.5-1 failed to install/upgrade: new python3 package pre-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 127 Status in python3-defaults package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: i can't able to upgrade the version19.10 to 20.04 because of python3 packages ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.10 Package: python3 3.7.5-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.3.0-64.58-generic 5.3.18 Uname: Linux 5.3.0-64-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu8.9 AptOrdering: python3:amd64: Install NULL: ConfigurePending Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Aug 24 17:15:44 2020 ErrorMessage: new python3 package pre-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 127 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-12-30 (237 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 19.10 "Eoan Ermine" - Release amd64 (20191017) Python3Details: /usr/bin/python3.7, Python 3.7.5, python3-minimal, 3.7.5-1 PythonDetails: /usr/bin/python2.7, Python 2.7.17, python-minimal, 2.7.17-1 RelatedPackageVersions: dpkg 1.19.7ubuntu2 apt 1.9.4ubuntu0.1 SourcePackage: python3-defaults Title: package python3 3.7.5-1 failed to install/upgrade: new python3 package pre-removal script subprocess returned error exit status 127 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to eoan on 2020-08-24 (0 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3-defaults/+bug/1892715/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Note that the output seems to work both when selecting 'Analog Output' or 'Digital Output (S/PDIF)'. ** Attachment added: "jabra_410.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-lib/+bug/1002952/+attachment/5404156/+files/jabra_410.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-lib in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002952 Title: [meta-bug] Invalid extra "Digital output S/PDIF" device for USB cards Status in alsa-lib package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: === Read me first === = Symptom = If you have a USB headset, or other USB device that does not have any S/PDIF output, but yet sometimes there is an extra device called "Digital Output (S/PDIF)" for that device, you're suffering from this bug. This bug is only for USB devices - if you have an invalid digital output for some other type of device, please file a separate bug instead. = Workaround = If you're affected, please try this workaround: first check the output of "aplay -l" (lowercase L), or "arecord -l" if it's an input device, and grab the first of two name in brackets: Example: card 3: Headset [Sennheiser USB Headset], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] here grab the name "Sennheiser USB Headset". Now edit the file /usr/share/alsa/cards/USB-Audio.conf (requires root permissions) Around line 40, you will find a line saying "Logitech USB Headset" 999 Add a new line after this line, so that there is now a new line called "Sennheiser USB Headset" 999 (including quotes, and replace "Sennheiser USB Headset" with whatever your particular card was named.) Save the file and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. = Already known devices = These card names are already in 12.04: "Blue Snowball" "Logitech USB Headset" "Logitech Web Camera" These card names are on their way into 12.04: "Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700" "Logitech Wireless Headset" "Plantronics USB Headset" "Sennheiser USB headset" If you have one of the above four, please help out by testing the proposed repository and report back in bug 987163. If your name is not listed above, please add a comment to this bug, including your alsa-info: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo - they will be collected for a SRU later on, or at least make it into the next release of Ubuntu. I have run the two tests in a local VM and systemd-fsckd works there while tests-in-lxd seems to trip over the old flaky fellow being "boot-and-services". Forced power off is the only possible action. I think this is irrelevent, but I'll mention that (I think) the lockup only happens when I'm using VLC to play MythTV-served videos from the LAN. Nothing else is running.. not even a browser. I'm simply watching a video and out of the blue it hangs. I don't see the point of needing a new release every time the list needs to be updated. I want a mirror that was updated yesterday, because is the closest to my location, but it is not in the list, and as you can see there are lots of issues from people that could have been avoided with this. This is not really a bug, but a feature. Also could be great if there was some kind of filter, like if you select now in Ubuntu 19.10 a ftp mirror and update it will fail, and the UI gets broken (you can't even close the window, you have to kill it), so doing this update should just import those mirrors that are safe to use.
