Bug description:
  [Impact]
Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not
immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that
point, because everything did work out anyway.

So what we do is change that to a warning.

  [Test case]
Not available right now. Issues can flare up and then disappear again.

  [Regression potential]
It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked
for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an
error, but it seems unlikely.

Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and
will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of
  concern.

  [Groovy SRU]
The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable
which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing
focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates.

We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not
consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they
build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the
  translation, who knows.

  [Original bug report]
  Test Case
  1. Install Ubuntu Desktop on hardware with an nVidia card and select to
install 3rd party drivers
  2. Proceed with installation

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901272] Re: Can't connect Bluetooth devices after reboot - Ubuntu 20.10 on Raspberry Pi 4

2020-11-07 Thread Daniel
First of all, this bug is so unpredictable, it's hard to replicate "on demand".
It was happening when I power off device and back on and after restart it
works, so it's not only what I said in description.
@Dave yes I installed your ppa and after that no device associated before were
present in gnome Bluetooth setting. Pairing again first was failing but after
some retries and a restart it's ok. Now I wait to see if bug is coming back but
another annoying thing happened.
Two devices I use, one is Mi Silent Mouse and another is Microsoft Bluetooth
Keyboard. Now after ppa the keyboard disconnect after only few seconds and it
has very hard time connecting back when I press any key. With old blues it
disconnect after many minutes, so it was tolerable.
After all both devices are by 4.0 LE and should not disconnect or should
connect instantly with buffered keys pressed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901789] Re: Release upgrade 20.04 -> 20.10 removed input method from ibus

2020-11-07 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I would guess that this happened since
/usr/share/ibus/component/simple.xml underwent extensive changes and now
offers a lot more XKB layouts than previously.

Were you able to add back German via ibus-setup, and does it work as
expected after that?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1854392] Re: Bluetooth headphones won't use A2DP on reconnect

2020-11-07 Thread René Fritz
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1845046 ***

I have the same problem with Sennheiser MOMENTUM M2 AEBT in Ubuntu 20.04

Nice workaround:

Bluetooth headphones won't use A2DP on reconnect

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
*** This bug is the same as bug 1724919, but is NOT A DUPLICATE
because that bug was closed because it was reported for Ubuntu 17.10,
which is out of support. This bug is for newer versions, such as
19.10. PLEASE DO NOT MARK THIS BUG AS A DUPLICATE. ***

On Ubuntu 19.10 on my Thinkpad T470s, my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones
pair using Bluetooth with no problems, and use A2DP by default. If I
then power off the headphones and power them back on, they reconnect
but use HSP/HFP and sound terrible. If I manually go into the sound
settings, A2DP is offered as an option, but selecting it doesn't take
effect. The headphones remain stuck in HSP/HFP mode.

Unpairing the headphones and re-pairing them again selects A2DP by
default, until the next time I switch the headphones off. Then they're
back to stuck in HSP/HFP until I unpair them once again. I therefore
need to unpair and re-pair them every time I want to use them, which
  is a nuisance.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903396] [NEW] libnl-route-3-200 unresolved symbols

2020-11-07 Thread Christopher Friedt
Public bug reported:

DISTRIB_CODENAME=focal
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS"

Getting a link error when trying to build Wireshark from source on
Ubuntu Focal. I need to build Wireshark for plugin development.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Obtain source code from https://gitlab.com/wireshark/wireshark
2. Install build dependencies as per CI ./tools/debian-setup.sh
--install-optional --install-test-deps -y
3. mkdir build
4. cmake ..
5. make
6. Observer error:

Those two symbols are not present in any of the other libnl libraries,
static or dynamic.

/usr/include/libnl3/netlink/attr.h:119:extern int32_t
nla_get_s32(const struct nlattr *);

libnl-route-3-200:amd64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnl-route-3.so.200.26.0

I can build and install libnl-3.2.25 from source and I don't get the
linking issues anymore if I replace the .so files installed by the
.debs, so it's possible that there is soemthing wrong with the packaging
of libnl-route-3-200.deb.

libnl-route-3-200:amd64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnl-route-3.so.200.26.0

I can build and install libnl-3.2.25 from source and I don't get the
linking issues anymore if I replace the .so files installed by the
.debs, so it's possible that there is soemthing wrong with the packaging
of libnl-route-3-200.deb.

[RFE] Automatically update the Ubuntu version strings in python-apt

Status in Ubuntu Translations:

Status in python-apt package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
Every time there is a new Ubuntu release, some strings need to be
manually translated although the only thing that is changing is the
Ubuntu version and code name. Please, consider updating these strings
automatically based on a translated template. It would help many
  translators.

  These strings are:
  Ubuntu xx.yy 'Code Name'
Cdrom with Ubuntu xx.yy 'Code Name'

Audio works from an ISO. I don't know how to reset whatever
configuration is wrong, so I'll reinstall.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1876035] Re: Automatically retry downloads on failures

2020-11-07 Thread Julian Andres Klode
As a compromise, and given that I ripped of the previous faulty http-
internal retry code, I think we do need to go with Retries set to 2 for
hirsute, and worry about improvements later, because while I appreciate
all the bugs I get for failures and the chance to fix them, they also
break people's workflows.

  Hi,

We operate archive.ubuntu.com as well as mirrors of it in various
places. We're getting reports of various CI/CD jobs failing. Sometimes
due to routing issues, issues with overloaded servers/VMs hosting
  archive, etc.

Any chance we can make '-o Acquire::Retries=3' the default for 'apt-
get update/install/dist-upgrade'? Preferably with a randomised skew
  between retries.

Also, any chance of having apt-get retry with different IPs/hosts
returned from the DNS lookup? (e.g. for archive.ubuntu.com -
  91.189.88.142, 91.189.88.152, ...).

  Thanks.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1884583] Re: vim is dependent on libcanberra0 in Ubuntu 20.04, had no such dependency in Ubuntu 18.04

2020-11-07 Thread Adrien Beau
Also filed (and fixed!) in Arch Linux:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/63073

A build switch was introduced in Vim 8.1.1529, so vim can be built with
--disable-canberra.
Commit
https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/21606676d9ebc6f159c56ee90733e5d5720ab3d7

Even though it is technically "no X", I think the underlying package
philosophy is "no desktop", and bringing in sound-theme-freedesktop,
Vorbis, Ogg and libasound very much goes against that.

That said, the "no X" build is a rather fat build with many dependencies
to scripting languages, so disk size is not much of an argument for that
package. On the other hand, the regular, main "vim" package has (or used
to have) very few dependencies (3 on a barebone Ubuntu install).
Canberra adds 9 more...

Please build "vim" with --disable-canberra: because it should have few
dependencies
Please build "vim-nox" with --disable-canberra: because it should be "no
desktop"

Title:

Status in vim package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
which pulls in libasound and some alsa packages which I am not sure why it is
useful and desired on most text-only/headless systems.
In Debian I also see this dependency arisen with Bullseye/testing and
Sid/unstable (but not with Buster/stable) but I don't see any mention of this
introduction and its usefulness in the package's changelog. Could the reason of
this dependency creation please be investigated, its usefulness evaluated, and
if possible, this dependency to be made optional for vim builds ? Surprisingly,
installing vim-nox also pulls in libcanberra0. vim-tiny does not pull in
libcanberra0, but it also does not have syntax highlighting. What should I do
to have syntax highlighting without libcanberra0 overhead ?
