[Touch-packages] [Bug 1926906] Re: (Ubuntu 21.04) RPi4 audio is slow and crackling

2021-05-08 Thread Hedda Frauk
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1899962 ***

I've tested this workaround and the sound is now normal:

Wrong audio output device selected on Raspberry Pi Desktop

Title:
(Ubuntu 21.04) RPi4 audio is slow and crackling

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I'm using a Raspberry Pi 4. After updating from Ubuntu 20.10 to 21.04, I
noticed audio problems.
The sound is slow and crackling.

I'm using the headphone jack and the config.txt option:
  dtparam=audio=on

If I start a video or audio file in VLC player and select the VLC options:
  Audio:
  Output module: ALSA Audio Output
Device: bcm2835 Headphones, bcm2835 Headphones Default Audio Device

Then the playback speed seems to be normal but the "electric" crackling in
voices remains.
And system-wide the problem persists, too.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 9364] Re: Dutch "ij" ligature (ij)

  Dutch "ij" ligature (ij)

Status in GTK+:
  Invalid
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The Dutch language has a "ij" ligature (ij), which I can't compose in X using
the
"us" keymap and the UTF-8 compose sequences. Most people don't use the
ligature
(as "ij" works fine, and has worked fine since the typewriter). As my name
contains a "ij", and I like to be a nitpick about these things, I'd like to be
able to type this character easily.

There are two versions: uppercase (IJ/IJ/unicode 0132) and lowercase
  (ij/ij/unicode 0133)

More info on the ligature: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Y

I don't think it's really really important, but it'd be nice to be able to do
this (and it should be easy to add this :))

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1927833] [NEW] Canon MX530 printer not recognised by CUPS

2021-05-08 Thread JWC
Public bug reported:

Trying to install a Canon MX530 on Ubuntu. None of the standard
interfaces work - they seem to register (IPP and LPD), but the printer
does not react to test pages or a simple text file.

Why is it so complicated on Ubuntu? Windows recognised the printer with
almost no input from me.

Title:
Canon MX530 printer not recognised by CUPS

Status in cups package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Trying to install a Canon MX530 on Ubuntu. None of the standard
interfaces work - they seem to register (IPP and LPD), but the printer
does not react to test pages or a simple text file.

Why is it so complicated on Ubuntu? Windows recognised the printer

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1927832] [NEW] static effect on HDMI out

2021-05-08 Thread magowiz
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 21.04
Release:21.04

package version : kernel-image 5.11.0-16-generic

what I expect to happen : to show my desktop correctly on second hdmi monitor
what happens : static effect like shown in attached photo

Since upgrade to hirsute (21.04) from groovy (20.10) my hdmi port on my
graphic card stopped to work correctly and started to display static
effect on second monitor, as you can see from the attached photo.

Here it is mine videocards:
Code:

$ lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]
RS880M [Mobility Radeon HD 4225/4250]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Park
[Mobility Radeon HD 5430/5450/5470]

I was able to test it with 3 different kernels :
Code:

5.12.1-051201-generic # last mainline kernel
5.11.0-16-generic # last official kernel from hirsute
5.8.0-50-generic # probably a old kernel still there from groovy

Only the older one, 5.8.0-50-generic was working correctly with dual
monitor with no issues.

Kind regards

  MAAS version 2.9.2

When commissioning servers with different storage types (SSDs in a
virtual disk behind RAID controller, NVMes and HDDs), but everything
  shows up tagged as SSD.

The commissioning step 50-maas-01-commissioning is generating
_incorrect_ storage info such as a random serial and it’s missing the
rpm for the virtual disk (behind RAID controller) and the HDDs.

The commissioning step maas-lshw generates the correct info, but is
  not used.

I have added screenshot of storage after commission and outputs from
  both 50-maas-01-commissioning and maas-lshw here:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1927813] [NEW] Whoopsie working is blocking shutdown

2021-05-08 Thread DarkTrick
Public bug reported:

Summary

In case there is a crashing application as a result of the shutdown command
(Menu -> shutdown ), the shutdown process hangs with the message:

`A stop job is running for crash report submission daemon ( [x]s / 1min
30s)`

Steps to reproduce
==
- Start an application, that will crash on computer-shutdown (I use easystrokes
or VIPole).

- Shutdown computer via menu (not command line (might work as well, but
untested))

- EXPECTED: computer shuts down quickly; possible crash reports will be
sent the next time the computer gets shut down

- or EXPECTED WORKAROUND: The waiting process can be canceled by Ctrl+C

- ACTUAL: The user can only wait. Cancellation (Ctrl+C / Ctrl+\) won't
work. Only hardware shutdown can cancel the process.

Note

Aside from whoopsie specifically, this waiting period with no cancellation is a
general problem, I think. In case several processes prevent the shutdown like
whoopsie does, the user has to wait several minutes (about 15min in one extreme
case).
A solution for this general problem would be the introduction of a screen to
allow users to hard-shutdown any program (like MS Windows does).

Title:
  Whoopsie working is blocking shutdown

Status in whoopsie package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Summary

In case there is a crashing application as a result of the shutdown command
(Menu -> shutdown ), the shutdown process hangs with the message:

`A stop job is running for crash report submission daemon ( [x]s /
  1min 30s)`

  Steps to reproduce
  ==
  - Start an application, that will crash on computer-shutdown (I use
easystrokes or VIPole).

  - Shutdown computer via menu (not command line (might work as well,
  but untested))

  - EXPECTED: computer shuts down quickly; possible crash reports will
be sent the next time the computer gets shut down

  - or EXPECTED WORKAROUND: The waiting process can be canceled by
  Ctrl+C

  - ACTUAL: The user can only wait. Cancellation (Ctrl+C / Ctrl+\) won't
work. Only hardware shutdown can cancel the process.

  Note

Aside from whoopsie specifically, this waiting period with no cancellation is
a general problem, I think. In case several processes prevent the shutdown like
whoopsie does, the user has to wait several minutes (about 15min in one extreme
case).
A solution for this general problem would be the introduction of a screen to
allow users to hard-shutdown any program (like MS Windows does).
