[Touch-packages] [Bug 1609750]

2021-09-25 Thread ian
Any update on this? Having issues with sound working for some time,
than suddenly stopping with a buzzing sound. Will attempt to modify
patch for most recent kernel, but my understanding is the kernel should
already be patched. Works fine on galliumos, but not with any other
distro or most recent kernel

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852016] Re: Applications delayed on launch

2021-09-25 Thread Arno Teigseth
I saw the same behavior as Sebastian in linux mint 20.2.
Tried with apps "flameshot" and "obs-studio" - both behave

QT apps are stuck about 25 seconds. Strace exactly like Sebastian's:

connect(12, {sa_family=AF_UNIX, sun_path="/run/user/1000/bus"}, 110) = 0
… yada yada …
poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000
… 25 second timeout …
(something in strace about … Timeout)

I was helped by (https://www.scivision.dev/disable-gnome-keyring-ssh-agent/)

Edit /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop to include the line:

X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false

and restart. Not just logout, full restart.

Now all same apps start in 0 secs.

  Applications delayed on launch

  Hello,

i am unsure if this is really a problem with dbus but my first

3.) I've expected just "normal" loading applications

4.) Some applications are delayed at startup. The application will
take around 30s to launch, but afterwards it just runs fine. Affected
application I found so far are KeepassXC, Filezilla and OnlyOffice
Desktop-Editor. From strace I saw this applications are stopping (for
  about 20-30s) at this point:

  read(14, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 16)= 8
  poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000

During my first research I found this following to topics related to the
issue:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1184774/some-applications-on-ubuntu-19-10-very-slow-to-start

This Stackoverflow topic links to the archlinux forum:
  https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230036

I can confirm that running the delayed applications with "dbus-launch
--exit-with-session application" or by running it as root they are all
  starting without any delay.

Thanks for your help! Let me know if you need any further information.

  Best Regards,
  Sebastian

Bug description:
  Hi

Shorcuts are one of the three main Gnome Menus. Within the Shortcuts
Menu, "Recent Documents" points to the last ten recently opened files
as they appear in /home/user/.recently-used.xbel. They do appear in
this xbel file in reverse order, where the most recent file is the
  last of the document.

Problem to solve is this one: many times, after documents land on the
desktop or in the download folder, user opens them and then stores
them in another place or delete them. But, they are recorded by xbel
as being placed on the desktop where they indeed were last opened.
This way, quite frequently, among the ten displayed items, href
information is invalid and points to unexisting bookmarks. This is
frustrating because the only choice offered to the user is to fully
delete the list. After that, the user loses confidence in this list
  and forgets to use it.

I think the user should be provided a fully working list: he should
have, for exemple, the possibility by pressing a button to refresh the
list. This would allow him to check if the href links of the bookmarks
are still valid and, if not, it would erase the invalid bookmarks.

Another way to implement this feature would be to check periodically
the validity of href links in the "recent documents" file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1944951] Re: delayed display update / konsole artifacts

2021-09-25 Thread Horst Schirmeier
Update: This isn't a konsole-only issue. I'm seeing this in LibreOffice
Writer as well.

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

Title:
delayed display update / konsole artifacts

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Since one of the recent Impish updates, konsole shows artifacts and
reacts slowly. In fact, it looks like screen updates are pipelined on
pixel-group granularity somehow, and the pipeline isn't drained
completely: When more text goes to the terminal (e.g., I type
something), existing artifacts vanish, but new ones (in the new text)
  appear.

Unfortunately, I don't see any of the previous konsole .deb releases
(e.g. 4:21.08.1-1 or 4:21.08.0-1) on the Ubuntu mirrors, so I cannot
go back and simply check whether the newest konsole updates are the
culprit. I'm actually not sure whether konsole is responsible at all,
I originally intended to file against xorg; however, I see those
artifacts in neither xterm nor gnome-terminal.

Find attached a screenshot (taken with an external camera; these
artifacts cannot be recorded using a screenshot tool such as
imagemagick's "import") where I ran "ls" in /tmp, and cleared the
terminal with ^L afterwards. The screen is still littered with
remains of the "ls" output. It took a few tries to get artifacts this
pronounced, though; usually they only concern small parts of the
  terminal.
