[Touch-packages] [Bug 1686081] Re: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work
Pretty sure this was fixed a few years ago, and regardless it is not important anymore. ** Package changed: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: In Progress => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1686081 Title: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-control-center source package in Artful: Confirmed Status in mutter source package in Artful: Confirmed Status in xorg source package in Artful: Invalid Status in xubuntu-meta source package in Artful: Fix Released Bug description: I'm splitting this issue off from LP: #1685542 (which made xserver- xorg-input-all no longer recommend xserver-xorg-input-synaptics) for tracking the remaining issues. gnome-control-center only supports libinput. If xserver-xorg-input- synaptics is installed (because it's used by some desktops which haven't been ported to libinput yet), synaptics overrides libinput. That makes gnome-control-center's Mouse & Touchpad settings panel only show basic settings and important configurations don't work. Questions - 1. Which desktops/apps still need -synaptics? - Unity - Xfce? - LXDE? LXQt? All the other major desktops have already been ported (LP: #1417980) 2. Can these apps be ported or removed before 18.04 LTS is released? 3. Can the desktops be ported and how bad is it if they are not ported and -synaptics is no longer available? 4. If -synaptics can't be removed completely from 18.04 LTS, does it make sense to have gnome-control-center Conflicts: xserver-xorg-input- synaptics? 5. Is there any other way we can fix this conflict? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1959527] [NEW] Behringer UMC22 lost capture support
Public bug reported: Ubuntu release: 21.10 alsa-base version: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu7 Kernel version: 5.13.0-27-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 12 17:36:47 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 USB audio device, which in previous versions of Ubuntu correctly supports both output and capture. Upon upgrading to 21.10, it has lost capture support. The hardware itself still captures correctly, verified on a ChromeOS device. The result of running alsa-info is here: http://alsa- project.org/db/?f=29a30af604267a2dc591610d06fce3175b379b86 The relevant device is "USB Audio CODEC" (this is how it was identified in previous versions of Ubuntu as well, as well as ChromeOS). Indeed, under "Mixer controls for card CODEC", there is no capture channel. Indeed, Settings->Sound doesn't show this device as an input option. It works fine as an output option. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1959343] Re: deprecation of the Canonical partner archive
Thanks, @khurshid-alam. I have pushed a new bzr branch to lp:~unity7maintainers/ubuntu-seeds/ubuntu-unity.jammy/ that includes the change to drop app-install-data-partner, and am regenerating the ubuntu- unity-meta package via update. Note that in general since the metapackages are automatically generated aside from update.cfg, we tend not to bother with git branches for these but treat the archive as authoritative; the seeds are the important thing to have stored in a VCS. (And if your team is comfortable with git, perhaps you want to consider moving the seeds from bzr to git, as we've done for ubuntu-meta and many others...) ** Changed in: ubuntu-unity-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to python-apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959343 Title: deprecation of the Canonical partner archive Status in subiquity: Invalid Status in app-install-data-partner package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in cloud-init package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in curtin package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in livecd-rootfs package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in python-apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in ubuntu-unity-meta package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: The Canonical partner archive is no longer being used for publishing new packages, and is empty from Ubuntu 20.10 on. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1954843] Re: amdgpu_bl0: Failed to write system 'brightness' attribute: Invalid argument
I compiled several Ubuntu-5.13.0-x.x tags from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/ubuntu-impish.git/refs/ but the backlight issue seems to go far back in time. I tested: - Ubuntu-5.13.0-25.26 - Ubuntu-5.13.0-21.21 - Ubuntu-5.13.0-20.20 - Ubuntu-5.13.0-19.19 - Ubuntu-5.13.0-16.16 In Ubuntu-5.13.0-16.16, there are some 400ish commits by Ubuntu on top of upstream v5.13.13. I haven't been able to identify which could be responsible, yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954843 Title: amdgpu_bl0: Failed to write system 'brightness' attribute: Invalid argument Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 21.10 does not succeed at setting the display brightness after booting (either to the GNOME login screen or to a logged-in user's desktop). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1955347] Re: rsync works bad with encfs now
Hi Claude, to reproduce the steps you could do it in a newly installed 20.04 up to date install. Once installed you will start fresh with a newly encrypted directory then you write on your note sheet (text editor for instance): "Creating directory "MyEncryptedDir" (for instance), then continue with the install of encfs, then encrypt "MyEncryptedDir", make it one line per step, then show from there the rsync command line (from > to and options if any, where "from" and "to" are the source and the destination). Copy paste in your note sheet all the command lines used in the terminal, until you get the errors. This is what the devs can use to reproduce your steps, as if they were right besides you while you are doing it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to rsync in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955347 Title: rsync works bad with encfs now Status in rsync package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hello, I think rsync works bad with encfs now. When root uses it, rsync cannot read a directory encrypted with encfs by a user. More precisely, it cannot read the mounted directory, the virtual one where the user can read the datas. Until now there was only a warning like this "rsync: readlink_stat("/home/claude/Documents_chiffres") failed: Permission denied (13)" and the software went on working (only ignoring the content of the mounted directory and of course without saving this content) But recently there is this more: "IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion" and because of this "skipping file deletion", the software can't work normally. The destination gets bigger more and more because the deleted files in the source are not deleted in the destination. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1871268] Re: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected
Updating NVIDIA driver from 460 to 470 messed up my system (even GRUB). Making an parallel install brought GRUB back to life, but I was not able to fix it. Even starting from pen drive only worked when using safe grafic after the NVIDIA update. System is working since years (16.04, 18.04, 20.04). So I decided to completely wipe the ssd and to reinstall. Then the installer ran into this error. I assume NVIDIA also touches the cards firmware when updating the driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871268 Title: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected Status in Ubuntu CD Images: Fix Released Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Focal: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Groovy: Fix Released Status in apt package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that point, because everything did work out anyway. We have two changes that help address this: * The first one stops immediately configuring multi-arch siblings (e.g. libc6:i386 when it's configuring libc6:amd64). This was not necessary, and caused all the libc6:i386 failures here. * The second change sort of also supersedes the first one: It just ignores any errors from immediate configuration, relying on the fact that it's checked and rectified at a later point if there are unconfigured packages (which is what made all those failures happen spuriously after having successfully installed everything). [Test case] We have one test case in EIPP format in the Debian bug 973305 which was only helped by the second change, not the first one. Run /usr/lib/apt/planners < eipp.log and check there are no errors. TODO: It's unclear if the APT from proposed installed in the live session will fix the installer, needs investigation, but would make a useful test case. [Regression potential] It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an error, but it seems unlikely. Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of concern. [Groovy SRU] The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates. We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the translation, who knows. [Original bug report] Test Case 1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1959508] [NEW] Proposal to include exiv2 0.27.5 in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Public bug reported: On https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/+source/exiv2 I see that Ubuntu 22.04 currently includes exiv2 0.27.3 Exiv2 v0.27.5 includes support for Canon *.CR3 image files. The CR3 file format has been the Canon camera-raw file format since mid 2018, and is probably one of the most common raw image file formats today.
