[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969633] Re: Bluetooth not connecting

2022-04-20 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Your kernel log seems to show Bluetooth commands repeatedly failing to
transmit:

[337184.522407] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x0406 tx timeout
[337887.553831] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x0c1a tx timeout
[337889.565670] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x0c3a tx timeout
[337891.581728] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x0c1a tx timeout
[337913.213192] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x1405 tx timeout
[337915.229228] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x1403 tx timeout

So that's either a kernel bug or a hardware fault. BlueZ is not really
relevant here.

Title:
  Continuous Bluetooth timeouts [Broadcom BCM20702A]

Status in linux-hwe-5.13 package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  My computer is an ASUS A88XM-A with AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7. Pluggable
  USB 2 Bluetooth dongle. Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard and Keychron
  K7 Bluetooth "keyboard".

  The Bluetooth manager finds the K480 but pairing always fails. The
  keyboard flashes blue but dongle steady blue.

  The K7 does not even show up. (But then the "keyboard" does not even
  work using a USB cable.)

  Bought dongle and K480 4 years ago, never got them to work at all,
  gave up as a bad investment.

  I ordered a K7 wireless keyboard. What I received was a Bluetooth
  keyboard. Bluetooth does not work. Plugging it in with a USB cable
  partially works (function keys and End key do not work).

  Got the K480 working with my Samsung Galaxy 5 Android tablet, but not
  with my computer. I want Bluetooth but do not know how to get it to
  work. It still does not work after 4 years of cold boots and the
  replacement of the power supply.

  I went to the Keychron Facebook Linux group. They were complaining
  that Ubuntu does not support Bluetooth and that the Keychron function
  keys do not work.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1947099] Re: ipconfig does not honour user-requested timeouts in some cases

2022-04-20 Thread Fabio Augusto Miranda Martins
I've tested the new patch from ppa:mfo/lp1947099v2 and I can confirm it
resolves the problem:

- Without the patch:

It took 396,940865−220,447147 = 176,493718 seconds in the IP-Config section.
Total boot time:

Title:
  ipconfig does not honour user-requested timeouts in some cases

Status in klibc package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in klibc source package in Bionic:

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  In some cases, ipconfig can take a longer time than the user-specified
timeouts, causing unexpected delays.

  [Test Plan]
  Any situation where ipconfig encounters an error sending the DHCP packet, it
will automatically set a delay of 10 seconds, which could be longer than the
user-specified timeout. It can be reproduced by creating a dummy interface and
attempting to run ipconfig on it with a timeout value of less than 10:

  # ip link add eth1 type dummy
  # date; /usr/lib/klibc/bin/ipconfig -t 2 eth1; date
  Thu Nov 18 04:46:13 EST 2021
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address ae:e0:f5:9d:7e:00 mtu 1500 DHCP RARP
  IP-Config: no response after 2 secs - giving up
  Thu Nov 18 04:46:23 EST 2021

  ^ Notice above, ipconfig thinks that it waited 2 seconds, but the
  timestamps show an actual delay of 10 seconds.

  [Where problems could occur]
  Please see reproduction steps above. We are seeing this in production too
(see comment #2).

  [Other Info]
  A patch to fix the issue is being proposed here. It is a safe fix - it only
checks before going into sleep that the timeout never exceeds the
user-requested value.

  [Original Description]

  In some cases, ipconfig can take longer than the user-specified
  timeouts, causing unexpected delays.

  in main.c, in function loop(), the process can go into
  process_timeout_event() (or process_receive_event() ) and if it
  encounters an error situation, will set an attempt to "try again
  later" at time equal now + 10 seconds by setting

  s->expire = now + 10;

  This can happen at any time during the main event loop, which can end
  up extending the user-specified timeout if "now + 10" is greater than
  "start_time + user-specified-timeout".

  I believe a patch like the following is needed to avoid this problem:

  --- a/usr/kinit/ipconfig/main.c
  +++ b/usr/kinit/ipconfig/main.c
  @@ -437,6 +437,13 @@ static int loop(void)

  if (timeout > s->expire - now.tv_sec)
  timeout = s->expire - now.tv_sec;
  +
  +   /* Compensate for already-lost time */
  +   gettimeofday(&now, NULL);
  +   if (now.tv_sec + timeout > start + loop_timeout) {
  +   timeout = loop_timeout - (now.tv_sec - start);
  + printf("Lowered timeout to match user request
= (%d s) \n", timeout);
  +   }
  }

  I believe the current behaviour is buggy. This is confirmed when the
  following line is executed:

  if (loop_timeout >= 0 &&
  now.tv_sec - start >= loop_timeout) {
  printf("IP-Config: no response after %d "
     "secs - giving up\n", loop_timeout);
  rc = -1;
  goto bail;
  }

  'loop_timeout' is the user-specified time-out. With a value of 2, in
  case of error, this line prints:

  IP-Config: no res

"aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96". The sample
  kdc.conf in the documentation at
https://web.mit.edu/kerberos/krb5-latest/doc/admin/install_kdc.html#kdc-conf
suggests just "master_key_type = aes256-cts".

  Changing encryption defaults should be done carefully, even when
  suggested by upstream. I filed bugs.debian.org/1009927 in debian as
  well.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969593] Re: rules to prevent non-root users from rebooting not taken into account

Title:
  rules to prevent non-root users from rebooting not taken into account

Status in policykit-1 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  On fresh Ubuntu Jammy installation, I add a
"/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/90-mandatory.d/restriction.pkla" file with the
following contents :
  [Disable power-off]
  Identity=unix-user:*

  It must prevent non-root users from shutdowning and rebooting the system. But
it only prevent shutdowning. Rebooting is still possible for a non-root user.

  We can see it using pkcheck command (as a non-root user) :
  $ pkcheck --action-id org.freedesktop.login1.power-off --process $PPID ; echo
$?
  Not authorized.
  1
  $ pkcheck --action-id org.freedesktop.login1.reboot --process $PPID ; echo $?
  0

  As this problem can lead to unexpected reboot on multi-users systems (a
disponibilty concern), I checked the "This bug is a security vulnerability" box.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969676] [NEW] Stash file /etc/krb5kdc/stash uses DEPRECATED enctype des3-cbc-sha1

2022-04-20 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Public bug reported:

When provisioning a new realm, this warning is logged in
/var/log/syslog:

==> /var/log/syslog <==

Apr 20 20:43:16 kdc systemd[1]: Starting Kerberos 5 Key Distribution Center...

Apr 20 20:43:16 kdc krb5kdc[3136]: Stash file /etc/krb5kdc/stash uses
DEPRECATED enctype des3-cbc-sha1!

This comes from "master_key_type" in the default kdc.conf shipped in
krb5-kdc:

$ cat /usr/share/krb5-kdc/kdc.conf.template
[kdcdefaults]
kdc_ports = 750,88

[realms]
@MYREALM = {
database_name = /var/lib/krb5kdc/principal
admin_keytab = FILE:/etc/krb5kdc/kadm5.keytab
acl_file = /etc/krb5kdc/kadm5.acl
key_stash_file = /etc/krb5kdc/stash
kdc_ports = 750,88
max_life = 10h 0m 0s
max_renewable_life = 7d 0h 0m 0s
master_key_type = des3-hmac-sha1
#supported_enctypes = aes256-cts:normal aes128-cts:normal
default_principal_flags = +preauth
}

The kdc.conf manpage says that the current default is
"aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96". The sample
kdc.conf in the documentation at
https://web.mit.edu/kerberos/krb5-latest/doc/admin/install_kdc.html#kdc-conf
suggests just "master_key_type = aes256-cts".

Changing encryption defaults should be done carefully, even when
suggested by upstream. I filed bugs.debian.org/1009927 in debian as
well.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969671] [NEW] Misspelled Ukrainian cities in tzdata

2022-04-20 Thread Denys Gulak
Public bug reported:

When user is prompted to choose a city in the region 'Europe' they have
a choice of 4 cities in Ukraine:

23. Kiev -> should be Kyiv
46. Simferopol  - > OK
54. Uzhgorod -> should be Uzhhorod
62. Zaporozhye -> should be Zaporizhzhia

The 'should be' variant is the only correct transliteration from
Ukrainian into English.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1794064] Re: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap

  Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser
  is a snap

Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in evince package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in evince package in Debian:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Users cannot open a hyperlink in a PDF opened with evince when the default
browser is a snap.
   * The fix creates a snap_browsers abstraction on AppArmor which can be used
in a transition for when the browser is executed. The snap_browsers abstraction
provides the minimal amount of permissions required to execute a browser
provided through snaps. This is a workaround since AppArmor currently does not
provide mediation/filtering on enhanced environment variables.

  [Test Plan]

   * Make sure the default browser is provided through the snap store.
   * Open a PDF that contains a hyperlink using evince and click on the URL.
   * The browser should open the requested URL.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * If the browser or snap core update to have new requirements for
  opening a browser, then the current policy could become obsolete and
  will need to be updated again.

@Sebastien, yes, just did. Thank you!

I also attached the debdiffs for evince and apparmor for bionic, focal, impish

   * Open a PDF that contains a hyperlink using evince and click on the URL.
   * The browser should open the requested URL.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * If the browser or snap core update to have new requirements for
  opening a browser, then the current policy could become obsolete and
  will need to be updated again.

   * Users cannot open a hyperlink in a PDF opened with evince when the default

   * The fix creates a snap_browsers abstraction on AppArmor which can be used
in a transition for when the browser is executed. The snap_browsers abstraction
provides the minimal amount of permissions required to execute a browser

Bug description:
  See description below. As the driver manager is done inside software-
  properties-qt, it's basically the same bug, but now it's affected by
  something we can't exactly get into the mechanism of: plasma-
  discover's "Software Sources" link.

  Steps to recrate:

  1) Open Plasma-discover
  2) Go to Settings
  3) Under click on "Software Sources"
  4) Attempt to enter password

  Expected: Software properties opens

  Actual: Pkexec keeps asking for password.

  --

  Earlier description:

  The driver manager for both Ubuntu Studio and Kubuntu can no longer
  launch due to some updated security measures in PolicyKit.

  The original behavior was that systemsettings would open
  /usr/bin/ubuntustudio-driver-manager (or /usr/bin/kubuntu-driver-
  manger) via pkexec, which would then open software-settings-qt.
  Unfortunately, the new behavior does not act correctly to pkexec and
  pkexec does not see the user as available in the sudoers file.

  The only way around this was to pass "export DISPLAY=:0" inside the
  appropriate driver manager executable with the command "sudo software-
  properties-qt". The KCM itself needs to execute the driver-manager via
  xterm, which then prompts for a password. It's ugly, but it works.

  I will attach a debdiff for the kubuntu-settings package.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1966905] Re: Valgrind memory errors in gnome-shell 42 from accountsservice

2022-04-20 Thread Treviño
I think this is triggered by valgrind because it leads to slowdowns, but
the bug is indeed there.

We can handle it in a later upload I think, but due to gslice and the
randomness of these memory errors, I wouldn't be shocked if this is
actually presenting right now in the wild with a different stack trace.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1965439] Re: software-properties-qt can no longer launch when called by pkexec

2022-04-20 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
software-properties-qt simply does not launch when run from the live
session except when using the workaround mentioned by Paul above in
comment 6 or when run by the Driver Manager link in System Settings.

  Systemd-oomd frequently kills applications on 8GB RAM machine

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  On a machine with 8GB of RAM, systemd-oomd will frequently kill
  applications. This has been most apparent for me when using Firefox
  with quite a lot of tabs open. This could probably be avoided by being
  more disciplined with the number of tabs in use but shouldn't need to
  be an active consideration for the user. I think this is less of a bug
  with systemd-oomd as it is effectively doing its job when memory is
  low, but rather I think this is more a case of the default amount of
  swap (1GB) not being sufficient if only 8GB of RAM is present.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1871538] Re: dbus timeout-ed during an upgrade, taking services down including gdm

2022-04-20 Thread Lukas Märdian
Quoting upstream systemd developers
(https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/22737#issuecomment-1077682307):
"We essentially traded one problem (lockup when starting services) for another
(the failure described in this commit).
I actually think that the lockup is worse. Here there is a simple solution:
switch from dbus-daemon to dbus-broker. [...]

A proper fix will most likely be to make all dbus calls asynchronous in
systemd, but that is a lot of work and it's unclear when/if it'll
happen. The regression is unfortunate, but I don't think we can fix it
in reasonable time."

So I wonder what's the best path forward in Ubuntu... if we revert,
we'll re-introduce the lockup/timeout problem with dbus-daemon. If we
keep the current version, fwupd-refresh.service is broken.

The comment at
https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/issues/3037#issuecomment-1100816992 suggests
that disabling the DynamicUser= setting makes the service work again. Maybe
that's worth a try, in order to get both problems solved? (i.e. shipping an
override config for fwupd)

$cat /etc/systemd/system/fwupd-refresh.service.d/override.conf
[Service]
DynamicUser=no

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * There's currently a deadlock between PID 1 and dbus-daemon: in some
  cases dbus-daemon will do NSS lookups (which are blocking) at the same
  time PID 1 synchronously blocks on some call to dbus-daemon (e.g.
`GetConnectionUnixUser` DBus call). Let's break
  that by setting SYSTEMD_NSS_DYNAMIC_BYPASS=1 env var for dbus-daemon,
  which will disable synchronously blocking varlink calls from nss-systemd
  to PID 1.

   * This can lead to delayed boot times

   * It can also lead to dbus-daemon being killed/re-started, taking
  down other services with it, like GDM, killing user sessions on the
  way (e.g. on installing updates)

  [Test Plan]

   * This bug is really hard to reproduce, as can be seen from the
  multi-year long discussion at
  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/15316

   * Canonical's CPC team has the ability to reproduce this issue (with
  a relatively high probability) in their Azure test environment, due to
  the specific setup they are using

   * So our test plan is to ask CPC (@gjolly) for confirmation if the
  issue is fixed.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * This fix touches the communication between systemd and dbus daemon,
  especially the NSS lookup, so if something is broken the (user-)name
  resolution could be broken.

   * As a workaround dbus-daemon could be replaced by dbus-broker, which
  never showed this issue or the behaviour could be changed back by
  using the `SYSTEMD_NSS_DYNAMIC_BYPASS` env variable, like this:

  #/etc/systemd/system/dbus.service.d/override.conf
  [Service]
  Environment=SYSTEMD_NSS_DYNAMIC_BYPASS=0

  [Other Info]

   * Fixed upstream (v251) in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/22552

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969633] [NEW] Bluetooth not connecting

2022-04-20 Thread Robert Pearson
Public bug reported:

My computer is an ASUS A88XM-A with AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7. Pluggable USB
2 Bluetooth dongle. Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard and Keychron K7
Bluetooth "keyboard".

The Bluetooth manager finds the K480 but pairing always fails. The
keyboard flashes blue but dongle steady blue.

The K7 does not even show up. (But then the "keyboard" does not even
work using a USB cable.)

Bought dongle and K480 4 years ago, never got them to work at all, gave
up as a bad investment.

They were complaining that
Ubuntu does not support Bluetooth and that the Keychron function keys do
not work.

  My apologies if this does not belong in mutter but because it happens
  in multiple applications, it's my best guess.

  This is a weird bug because I don't know what causes it but it happens
  consistently after normal usage which for me means several times
  leaving the laptop idle and unlocking.

  If I leave gnome-terminal and/or evince open, eventually any UI action
  like switching from multiple tabs, opening context menu etc will
  output the following to journal

  gnome-terminal-[2393]: ../../../../../gdk/x11/gdkwindow-x11.c:5653

  evince[3213]: ../../../../../gdk/x11/gdkwindow-x11.c:5653 drawable is

  I suspect this may happen with other gtk apps as well. This persists
  until each individual app is restarted.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1965439] Re: software-properties-qt can no longer launch when called by pkexec

2022-04-20 Thread Erich Eickmeyer 
** Description changed:

  See description below. As the driver manager is done inside software-

  something we can't exactly get into the mechanism of: plasma-discover's
  "Software Sources" link.

+ Steps to recrate:
+
+ 1) Open Plasma-discover
+ 2) Go to Settings

+ Expected: Software properties opens

+ Actual: Pkexec keeps asking for password.
+
+ --

  Earlier description:

  The driver manager for both Ubuntu Studio and Kubuntu can no longer
  launch due to some updated security measures in PolicyKit.

  The original behavior was that systemsettings would open
  /usr/bin/ubuntustudio-driver-manager (or /usr/bin/kubuntu-driver-manger)
  via pkexec, which would then open software-settings-qt. Unfortunately,
  the new behavior does not act correctly to pkexec and pkexec does not
  see the user as available in the sudoers file.

This appears to have caused a regression in fwupd in Ubuntu 20.04 with
details at https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/issues/3037

fwupd-refresh.service uses DynamicUser and now hits this upstream bug:

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * There's currently a deadlock between PID 1 and dbus-daemon: in some
  cases dbus-daemon will do NSS lookups (which are blocking) at the same
  time PID 1 synchronously blocks on some call to dbus-daemon (e.g.

  [Service]
  Environment=SYSTEMD_NSS_DYNAMIC_BYPASS=0

  [Other Info]

   * Fixed upstream (v251) in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/22552

  This morning I found my computer on the login screen.
  But not the one of the screen log, no a new one - so something must have
crashed.

  Logging in again confirmed that all apps were gone and the gnome shell

  As always things are not perfectly clear :-/
  The following goes *back* in time through my logs one by one.

  Multiple apps crashed at 06:09, but we will find later that this is a follow

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1952191] Re: package systemd 248.3-1ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: installed systemd package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127

2022-04-20 Thread Neven Luetic
I just experienced this error during a normal update while using 21.10.

The update failed and using
apt install --fix-broken systemd-sysv
or
apt install --fix-broken systemd
triggered the error as shown above.

I found that the binary systemd-machine-id-setup, which causes the error
was installed two times on my system, in /usr/bin and in /bin. The
version in /usr/bin included the dependency on libsystemd-shared-247.so,
which is not available. The version in /bin has the correct dependency
on libsystemd-shared-248.so. In my PATH /usr/bin is before /bin.

After removing /usr/bin/systemd-machine-id-setup I was able to do
apt install systemd systemd-sysv

When doing this I got additional warnings concerning the binaries:
/usr/bin/journalctl
/usr/bin/systemd-tmpfiles
related to libsystemd-shared-247.so.

Again both are available in /usr/ as well and are correct there. So I
removed them too.

the list of choices is also having duplicated items because of the file
symlinks but that's probably not what is creating the issue there

  When attempting to report

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969248] Re: Systemd-oomd frequently kills applications on 8GB RAM machine

2022-04-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your report. There were some improvements that landed to
fix bug #1966381 but you already have that version. The log shows you
are indeed hitting the ram/swap limits from your machine so it might be
the expected behaviour to avoid getting the machine locking up for
minutes

what's the output of
$ free -h

before you hit the issue?

Bug description:
  On a machine with 8GB of RAM, systemd-oomd will frequently kill
  applications. This has been most apparent for me when using Firefox
  with quite a lot of tabs open. This could probably be avoided by being
  more disciplined with the number of tabs in use but shouldn't need to
  be an active consideration for the user. I think this is less of a bug
  with systemd-oomd as it is effectively doing its job when memory is
  low, but rather I think this is more a case of the default amount of
  swap (1GB) not being sufficient if only 8GB of RAM is present.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  On/off of Bluetooth in gnome-control-center will not work properly in kernels
5.11 (approximately) onward. Devices are not refreshed in the list anymore.

  [Test Plan]

  1. Open gnome-control-center and select Bluetooth
  2. Turn off Bluetooth via UI
  3. Turn on Bluetooth via UI

  Expect: Device list appears, so Bluetooth really is on.

  [Where problems could occur]

  Since the fix involves the 'rfkill' logic it has the potential to
  affect any Bluetooth or Wifi on/off setting.

  This is related to bug #1792648. After fixing that one (see discussion
  at https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/evince/merge_requests/1),
  clicking a hyperlink in a PDF opens it correctly if the default
  browser is a well-known application (such as /usr/bin/firefox), but it
  fails to do so if the default browser is a snap (e.g. the chromium

  This is not a recent regression, it's not working on bionic either.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969375] Re: systemd-cryptenroll does not support TPM2 devices

  systemd-cryptenroll does not support TPM2 devices

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  systemd-cryptenroll can make use of tpm2 modules to bind against
  secure boot pcrs and enable auto unlocking of luks devices.

  Following the instructions here:
  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Trusted_Platform_Module#systemd-cryptenroll

  the following commands fail on ubuntu jammy (5.15.0-25-generic)

  root@testbox:~# systemd-cryptenroll --tpm2-device=list
  TPM2 not supported on this build.
  root@testbox:~# systemd-cryptenroll --tpm2-device=auto --tpm2-pcrs=7 /dev/sda3
  🔐 Please enter current passphrase for disk /dev/sda3: ***
  root@testbox:~# echo $?

  It appears that this issue has been resolved in the debian build for
  systemd here:  https://salsa.debian.org/systemd-
  team/systemd/-/commit/6b5e99f1d7f63c0c83007de9f98f7745f4a564f8

  Can we get the same modifications to the Jammy systemd build?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969386] Re: software-properties-gtk Livepatch toggle is grayed out

2022-04-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The toggle being greyed out is wanted since the service is not available
but maybe the UI could reflect better when it's disabled?

Reassigning to update-manager though since the main issue is that the
hint displayed is invalid.

It's probably low importance once livepatch is available

** Package changed: software-properties (Ubuntu) => update-manager
(Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- software-properties-gtk Livepatch toggle is grayed out
+ Hints about enabling livepatch even if the service isn't available

Title:
  Hints about enabling livepatch even if the service isn't available

Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  After an upgrade from impish to jammy, update-manager rightly notifies
  me that livepatch should be available:

The software on this computer is up to date.
Tip: You can use Livepatch to keep your computer more secure between
restarts.

  However, when I click on the 'Settings & Livepatch' button to launch
  software-properties-gtk, after attaching a UA subscription to this
  machine (which I hadn't done previously), the Livepatch toggle is
  grayed out.

  ua status says:

  $ ua status
  SERVICE   ENTITLED  STATUSDESCRIPTION
  cc-ealyes   n/a   Common Criteria EAL2 Provisioning Packages
  cis yes n/a Security compliance and audit tools
  esm-infra yes n/a UA Infra: Extended Security Maintenance
(ESM)
  fips yes n/a NIST-certified core packages
  fips-updates yes n/a NIST-certified core packages with priority
security updates
  livepatch yes n/a Canonical Livepatch service

  Enable services with: ua enable

   Account: steve.langa...@canonical.com
  Subscription: steve.langa...@canonical.com
  $

  Running 'sudo ua enable livepatch' reports:

  Livepatch is not available for Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish).

  So perhaps this is an issue of update-manager only checking that we're
  on an LTS, rather than checking that the livepatch service is
  available from the server? But, that also means connectivity issues
  could result in the user never being prompted to enable livepatch.

  When is livepatch going to be available for 22.04 LTS?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1966418] Re: [jammy regression] webkit apps do not display content (yelp, epiphany, gnome-online-accounts etc)

2022-04-20 Thread Marian Rainer-Harbach
While this bug is fixed for displaying emails in Evolution, the same
problem still occurs when editing emails. I created bug #1969584 for
this.

  All webkit using apps for affected users display a blank screen.

  Original Bug Report
  ---
  Evolution has suddenly stopped displaying message contents on the last 24h.
Starting it up from the command line shows this output:

  ```
  EGLDisplay Initialization failed: EGL_NOT_INITIALIZED
  Cannot create EGL context: invalid display (last error: EGL_SUCCESS)
  ```

  I don't know if it's related, but googling around shows some webkitgtk
  hits on this error.

  The email contents are however clickable. They're just not rendered to
  screen (see attached file).

  Deleting the evolution folders from `~/.config`, `~/.cache` and
  `~/.local/share` does not help.

  Email accounts are all google, configured through gnome online
  accounts.

  Workaround #1
  -
  You can run the app from the command line with
  WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 evolution
  (Replace evolution with the name of the webkit app you are trying to use)

  Workaround #2
  -
  Log out.
  Select your name on the login screen.
  Click the gear button and choose Ubuntu on Xorg.
  Enter your password to finish logging in.
