extensions:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
rm -rf extensions
and then log in again.
If the problem still happens then while it is happening please run:
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
and attach the resulting text file here.

Process '/usr/sbin/alsactl -E
I have added slim dm instead if lightdm which works for logging in but does not
allow the system to shutdown but reboots instead.
I have now added xdm as display manager and that is working as it should for
login and shutdown.

installing python3-setuptools instead of python3-distutils should be
sufficient, with a new enough setuptools, which we have in noble.
Uploaded 0.36.2-4 to unstable, it migrated to noble-proposed and
awaiting autopkgtests.
