Testing it just now some problems have occured which I can't definately
say are due to the update but I haven't seem them before. Windows
stopped accepting keys when I did the dist-upgrade to the new packages.
After a reboot the Window Manager Settings - Desktop Effects dialog
appears frozen when
I seem to have all the issues above where it is a problem at log in and
after the system is up:

This not only is affecting eclipse users, it's affecting people of all
different types of programs, including Minecraft players. It causes the
player to not be able to sprint (ctrl) and jump (space) at the same
time.

This could either be in libpam0g or libpam0g-modules, not sure.
I have a fresh Ubuntu 14 install with the latest pam_motd. I added a cool shell
script in /etc/update-motd.d/99-coolStuff
Verified correct syntax. doing a run-parts . from that dir gave me
correct results. But

apport-kde (and apport-gtk) recommends gdb | gdb-minimal
This brings in gdb and with it libc6-dbg onto the images which are now
oversized (looking at trusty 12.04.1 candidates today).
I'd like to switch this so gdb-minimal is recommended first for apport-
kde.
