I noticed that whenever I boot with my external drive switched on, I
also get the error No Medium Found. So, to solve this problem, I
switch off the external drive before I turn my computer on. And
everything works fine.

I have this problem in Xubuntu 14.10 sometimes when dragging files in
Thunar. I found an interesting work-around that works for me. When

via the power+VolUp buttons. All back and working now. Perhaps a
worthwhile feature request for the future, to have a reset option that
resets device settings, without wiping data? :-)

the power+VolUp buttons (I'm assuming here that the secondary menu made
available when pressing VolUp during the recovery boot is not suitable,

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer

Has anyone made a shell script to fix this? I'm running on Android and
it's a little difficult for me to follow how to fix.

In /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions, the firmware is copied to the
initramfs using:
cp -a "$firmware" "$target_dir"
For symlinked firmware such as /lib/firmware/i915/skl_dmc_ver1.bin for
Intel Skylake, this results in a copy of the symlink instead of the
firmware
I want to add that this isn't in the Debian version of the package. The
change to remove the call to copy_exec is what broke this.
