Switches and checkboxes are used for different things: switches for noun
phrases that can be considered on/off, checkboxes for verb or adjective
phrases that are agreed to or not.
Unfortunately, switches and checkboxes currently look very similar. This
bug will be fixed when checkboxes are moved

Allowing ExclusiveGroup for checkboxes is a design mistake in Qt.
Checkboxes should never be simply mutually exclusive, because people
understand them as being independent. http://www.nngroup.com/articles

Checkboxes should seldom ever be related to each other at
FWIW, the workaround for restarting Unity is just to enter unity
without the --reset option. I reported bug 1486498 that the current
message is unhelpful.

I imagined that the way apps would declare that they do notifications
would be the same way that they declare they use your location, or
camera, or or contacts, or an Online Account: by actually trying to do
