[Touch-packages] [Bug 1770707] Re: Screen resolution is degraded when switching between multiple users

2018-05-23 Thread Roland65
This bug can be closed because the problem is not related to lightdm: it
also happens with gdm3.

Sorry for the trouble...

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1734092] [NEW] Evince does not print hyphens in some PDF documents (cairo bug)

2017-11-23 Thread Roland65
Public bug reported:

In some PDF files, characters like hyphen (minus sign) and others
symbols are not printed in Evince.

According to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94615, the bug
is in version 1.14 of cairo.

The bug was fixed last year in version 1.15 (see
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/cairo/commit/?id=190678f6444ad879847d603c3c9eaf8e9ab6887a).

I've backported the above patch in Ubuntu 16.04 xenial, and it fixes the
bug.

To reproduce the bug (see attached test files) in Ububtu 16.04 (with
libcairo2 1.14.6-1):

1. Create a LaTeX test document (test.tex) with the following content:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\begin{document}
a-b---
\end{document}

2. Create a test.pdf from test.tex:

pdflatex test.tex

3. Create a cairo pdf output (or print test.pdf on a printer, using
Evince):

pdftocairo test.pdf -pdf test1.pdf

Open test1.pdf with Evince: as you can see, some of the hyphen signs
have disappeared.

To fix the bug, rebuild the cairo deb packages with the attached patch, install
the packages and do (or print test.pdf on a printer, using Evince):

pdftocairo test.pdf -pdf test2.pdf

Now, open test2.pdf with Evince: there is no more missing hyphen sign.

System: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Packages: libcairo2 (1.14.6-1)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1641284] Re: libatk-adaptor breaks down the LibreOffice TexMaths extension

2016-11-22 Thread Roland65
Hi,

I forgot to mention that I am the author of the TexMaths extension. Of
course, during my testing there was no other extension installed. The
bug occurs in 5.1.x and 5.2.x versions of LibreOffice. I used a fresh
Ubuntu 16.04.1 install for the test, but the bug appears in various
Ubuntu flavours too, as many TexMaths users reported.

You should also consider the other bug I reported
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi2-atk/+bug/1584795),
which relates LibreOffice and liabatk-adaptor.

These two bugs are 100% reproducibles.

Title:
libatk-adaptor breaks down the LibreOffice TexMaths extension

Status in at-spi2-atk package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Package: libatk-adaptor 2.18.1-2ubuntu1
System: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus)

If the package libatk-adaptor is installed on Ubuntu (as a depency of
gnome-orca for example), it breaks down the LibreOffice TexMaths
extension. TexMaths is a popular extension used to enter / edit LaTeX
  equations on LibreOffice (see http://roland65.free.fr/texmaths).

  Step to reproduce the bug:

  1. It is assumed that LibreOffice 5.1.4 (with at least the Writer and
Draw components) is installed on Ubuntu. It is also assumed that
  libatk-adaptor is installed.

  2. Install texlive:
  sudo apt-get install texlive

  3. Download and install the TexMaths extension (version 0.42) from
  there: https://sourceforge.net/projects/texmaths/files/0.42/

  4. Create a new empty Writer document, then click on the Pi icon (this
is the TexMaths icon) and in the window that opens, type: 'x(t)+y(t)'
(without the quotes), then click on the LaTeX button. This generates
an SVG image of the 'x(t)+y(t)' equation.

  5. Select the SVG image of the equation by left clicking on it. Then
click on the Pi icon. Now, instead of editing the equation, an error
message is displayed: "The selected object is not a TexMaths
equation... Please unselect it and call the macro again...".

  6. Now, right click on the SVG image and select the 'Description' menu
voice. In the window that opens, the description is empty and does not
contain the equation text, as it should.

  7. Now purge (and not just remove) the libatk-adaptor package:

  sudo apt-get purge libatk-adaptor

then logout and login and repeat the steps 4, 5, and 6: everything is
OK and the equation can be edited as usual.

Another way to remove the bug instead of purging libatk-adaptor is to
  rename the file: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90atk-adaptor to
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/90atk-adaptor.orig . Then logout and login.

Note there is another bug #1584795 that relates libatk-adaptor and
  LibreOffice, see there https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-
  spi2-atk/+bug/1584795

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1584795] [NEW] Severe lag in LibreOffice Draw due to /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90atk-adaptor

2016-05-23 Thread Roland65
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.04, I found that LibreOffice Draw (4.2.x, 5.0.x, 5.1.x
versions) was extremely slow when selecting and moving a bunch of shapes
in some relatively simple drawings. This occurred on five Ubuntu boxes I
have. However, there was no slow down on Windows with the same files and
also on a fresh install of Xubuntu 16.04 in a virtual machine.

After a long investigation, I finally found the culprit: for some
reason, the package gnome-orca was installed on my machines and this
package pulls down the libatk-adaptor package, which in turn installs
the file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90atk-adaptor.

I found that removing that file solves the problem and now LibreOffice
Draw is fully responsive. Perhaps other graphic applications could
suffer from the same problem, but I was not able to see some huge lag as
in LO Draw.

To reproduce:
1. install libatk-adaptor (version 2.18.1-2ubuntu1:amd64 of Ubuntu 16.04) or
simply the gnome-orca package

2. open the attached file test.odg with LibreOffice Draw, and select a
bunch of shapes (for example, the two axes and shapes of the page
bottom). Then, try to move the selected shapes with the keyboard (shift
+ arrow) and you should see a severe lag. If you maintain the key
pressed during the move, then the UI is blocked during some time. Moving
the shapes using the mouse is faster but still quite slow as compared to
the expected performance.

3. remove the file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90atk-adaptor and restart X

4. open again the test.odg file. Now, moving a bunch of shapes using the
keyboard (or the mouse) is very smooth and fluid, as it should be.

This is 100% reproducible on all the machines I have where the libatk-
adaptor package is installed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1477106] [NEW] Cups directive Browsing Off ignored by print dialog

2015-07-22 Thread Roland65
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 15.04, I have cups configured with the Browsing Off option
in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf to disallow listing non local printers (I'm
on a huge network where there are many printers).

This works well with non Gnome applications (LibreOffice, Adobe Reader
for example). But the print dialog of Gnome GTK3 applications seems to
ignore the Browsing Off directive and lists a lot of remote
printers...

The same problem arises with Gnome GTK2 applications...

cups version: 2.0.2-1ubuntu3.2
gtk3 version: 3.14.13-0ubuntu1
gtk2 version: 2.24.27-0ubuntu1

The package cups-browsed is not installed.

2015-07-21 Thread Roland65
Yes, the web interface works correctly when there is no mime.types file
and with the original cups.css.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1475683] Re: web interface rendered poorly

2015-07-20 Thread Roland65
Here are the screenshots of the web interface, before and after the fix.
Indeed, I have an /etc/cups/mime.types file , and removing this file also fixes
the web interface problem. Perhaps this mime.types file comes from an old cups
version?

2015-07-18 Thread Roland65
OK, here are the two files. I only removed the comment located at the first
line.
I tested with Firefox 39 and Epiphany browsers. I don't know if the problem is
browser dependant.
Note that I found the proposed solution here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7710134.html
