[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528422] Re: Additional drivers reports the wrong driver in use
Another related issue: I manually installed the latest nvidia graphics driver (460.67) for my GPU (1080ti), tried it out, still choppy, reverted to nouveau, restarted, all good. However the 'additional drivers' pane is wrong again, saying I'm continuing to use a manually installed driver, when I'm using Nouveau. Screenshot attached. Will attach logs of whatever people need, upon request. ** Attachment added: "AdditionalDrivers.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1528422/+attachment/5480342/+files/AdditionalDrivers.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to software-properties in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528422 Title: Additional drivers reports the wrong driver in use Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: See attached screenshot - it's reporting the AMD driver is in use, while in reality it is the Intel driver. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1528422] Re: Additional drivers reports the wrong driver in use
Similar issue here: I was using kernel 5.4.0.42.46 with nvidia-drivers-440, installed 5.8.3, booted into the new kernel and the graphics were way worse. Software & Updates still has the radio button selected for nvidia, see attached, this looked terrible stretched across a 3440*1440 screen. but: hwinfo --gfxcard Driver Info #0: Driver Status: nvidiafb is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nvidiafb" Driver Info #1: Driver Status: nouveau is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nouveau" Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Then, Selected nouveau driver, apply, hwinfo says both drivers still inactive, restarted, looks good (hi res), nvidia settings absent from start menu settings, nouveau radio button highlit in software & updates, hwinfo --gfxcard Driver Info #0: Driver Status: nvidiafb is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nvidiafb" Driver Info #1: Driver Status: nouveau is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe nouveau" Config Status: cfg=new, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #7 (PCI bridge) So nouveau is being used, graphics problem fixed, nvidia definitely the culprit of the graphics issues which had been plaguing me for about a year. I'll file a bug with them, however part of what took me so long to diagnose this was that I thought the nouveau drivers were broken since I could only get 1024*768. I spent hours trying to fix that, to no avail. Turns out there was nothing wrong with them, they just weren't selected. I didn't know this because I didn't think to check, I just believed the radio button. Feasibly the selected item is highlit until changed in the GUI or backend by the user, but it doesn't do an internal check (hwinfo or otherwise) to confirm that the driver it thinks is selected, is selected? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1707451] Re: udisksd crashed with SIGSEGV in g_mutex_lock()
Thanks for fixing this guys & apologies for being dumb, but how does one install the latest stable on a *buntu system? 1. Download & unpack udisks2_2.7.6.orig.tar.bz2 2. Readme says Udisks has several dependencies listed in `packaging/udisks2.spec`. If you run rpm based distro, install the dependencies by: # dnf builddep -y packaging/udisks2.spec, But there doesn't appear to be that file in the folder and what if you're not running an rpm system? 3. To configure and install the Udisks, perform following tasks: ./autogen.sh Doesn't work on *buntu. sh ./autogen.sh says can't open; there is no autogen.sh file. 4. make: there is no target. Same problem using tarball from https://github.com/storaged- project/udisks/releases Cheers! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1707451 Title: udisksd crashed with SIGSEGV in g_mutex_lock() Status in udisks: New Status in glib2.0 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in udisks2 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Showed up after login ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: udisks2 2.6.5-2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.11.0-10.15-generic 4.11.8 Uname: Linux 4.11.0-10-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.6-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Jul 30 00:35:31 2017 ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/udisks2/udisksd InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-06-22 (37 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Alpha amd64 (20170622) MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M. Issue does not exist with a wired headset. This issue does not exist with 15.10. All updates have been installed on 16.04 including backports but they have not fixed the issue. It is not browser specific and not website specific. It is not hardware specific as it affects my laptop with an intel 7260 card and my pc with an intel 8260 card. The issue exists on both ubuntu and kubuntu 16.04. I have reported it on the ubuntu support forums and after investigation a moderator noticed changed in the kernel from 4.4 and 4.2 that may becausing the issue and asked me to file a bug report. [Touch-packages] [Bug 474514] Re: Banshee very slow when interacting with track lists
Eesh, sorry Chow, I wasn't subscribed to notifications for this! Done now - run debug script, found a file with an errant tag, edited tag, saved, waited for CPU to drop, quit banshee, pasted all terminal to text file, attached. ** Attachment added: "terminal debug output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/474514/+attachment/4342128/+files/BansheeHighCPU.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to sqlite3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/474514 Title: Banshee very slow when interacting with track lists Status in banshee package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in sqlite3 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in banshee package in Debian: Invalid Status in sqlite3 package in Debian: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: banshee Banshee's great, but since I've added a few more songs it's become unbearably slow. [Touch-packages] [Bug 474514] Re: Banshee very slow when interacting with track lists
Hi Chow, all, I'm getting what I think is a similar thing: 100% use of one CPU core after saving any tags edits (2.4ghz dual core E6600); generally sluggish performance. I've turned BPM detection off & podcast support off. I just ran the debug command as per your advice to Myk, made one tag edit, saved, waited til the CPU dropped back to idle (~15 seconds) then closed & pasted the (visible) terminal to a file. The file makes no mention of the file I tagged though, which seems odd? Banshee v2.62 on xubuntu 14.10 (was the same on 14.04). p.s. is there a daily PPA? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to sqlite3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/474514 Title: Banshee very slow when interacting with track lists Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “sqlite3” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “banshee” package in Debian: Invalid Status in “sqlite3” package in Debian: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: banshee Banshee's great, but since I've added a few more songs it's become unbearably slow.
