My patch has been included in the upstream, and it is also in the Ubuntu 14.10.
It is also modified by other developers, so it has been a little different from
the one I made in Ubuntu 12.04.
I think the problem is that some rule is changed in UPower, but the mechanism

test both 'restart unity8' and 'sudo restart lightdm' on both case
(virtualization enabled / disabled).
it work perfectly with visualization enabled
it didn't work as visualization disabled. (test only once for both rtm
r134 and r8).
With visualization disabled, it run so slow and we should
refine previous comment:
kill -9 $(pidof unity8) $(pidof unity8-dash)
might make it once on my PC, but after that, I try many time and never
success any more.
