[Touch-packages] [Bug 1876219] Re: iris driver for old cpu

2020-05-12 Thread arno
For me (core m5 6th generation) I noticed that mpv/celluloid is crashing
after an update of ubuntu mate 20.04. Could reproduce by reinstalling
(works) and update (crash). Unfortunatly I don't know what and how to
revert.

Bug description:
  I am not completely sure where I should file the bug. I am using
  Lubuntu 20.04 with lxqt, and since the upgrade to 20.04 iris is the
  default graphics driver, which results in crashes in multiple apps
  including guvcview and calibre. Setting
  MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965 fixed the problem. I am not sure but
  is it true that iris does not support older generations of Intel CPUs?
  If it is the case would it be possible to revert to i965 in those

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1876219] Re: iris driver for old cpu

2020-05-12 Thread arno
For those wo asking where to set
Adding this line to ~/.profile helps for me as workaround.
"export MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=i965"

But this is a severe bug and should be fixed. I am curious what change
caused this?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1876219] Re: iris driver for old cpu

2020-07-09 Thread arno
This bug disappears if I go back from intel x driver to standard
modesetting driver. I didn't to that intenionally. I haven't been aware
of that, but to get xbacklight working (to change screen brightness) I
activated that. After removing that change in /etc/X11 mpv/celluloid
works without this variable.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905179] Re: SDcard show wrong date (one month ahead)

2020-12-19 Thread arno
A friend could identify the issue and repeat that on Kubuntu 20.04. The
reason seems to be the filesystem on sd-card. With FAT32 there is no
problem, but bigger cards - beginning with 64GB - use exFAT. After

sudo apt-get install exfat-utils

the issue is gone :)

I see this as a bug. The filesystem is mounted although it is not
properly supported. Nevertheless thanks for all at least taking notice.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1382349] [NEW] I did a test run of X Diagnostics

2014-10-16 Thread Arno Versfeld
Public bug reported:

I run X Diagnostics to see what information is provided.
Ubuntu is slow on booting up in spite of a Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz x 8
and 7,7 GiB memory.
My knowledge of the OS is far too inadequate to understand what all the
information means.

I also have a Canon MP540 printer that often hangs in the middle of the last
page of printing.
I also run a Windows XP VM on Ubuntu using Virtual Machine Manager and find
that Windows does not see the printer.
I don't have any problem seeing my home folder on Ubuntu from the Windows side
and I wonder if it may relate
to the problem I have with the printer hanging from time to time.

This printer works perfectly when working from a pure Windows
environment, ie, I boot directly into Windows XP.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1578589] [NEW] Add support for as inner authentication in PEAP

2016-05-05 Thread Arno Teigseth
Public bug reported:

Networkmanager has no option for "none" as inner authentication.

MSCHAPv2, GTC and MD5 are the only options.

The page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1726522 suggests
adding "none" as phase2-auth, but doing that syslog tells me the config
for that network is invalid.

However, this works fine with the wpa_supplicant config file
~/scowlan.conf:

ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
network={
 ssid="PS-XWLAN"
 key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
 eap=PEAP
 phase1="peaplabel=0"
 phase2="none"
 identity="USERNAME"
 password="PASSWORD"
}

and running it like this works fine:
wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do
(?)

  The page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1726522 suggests
  adding "none" as phase2-auth, but doing that syslog tells me the
  config for that network is invalid.

  However, this works fine with the wpa_supplicant config file
  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will
  do (?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589005] Re: After update DNS work unstable

2016-11-08 Thread Arno Mühren
I also still have this problem with 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 amd64
Only version 1.1.93 works for me on 16.04.

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

Title:
  After update DNS work unstable

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Today I have updated network-manager from update repo and chrome have
  started get err_name_resolution_failed apt started get network errors.

  W: Failed to fetch
http://by.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/n/network-manager/network-manager_1.1.93-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb
    Temporary failure resolving 'by.archive.ubuntu.com'

  I got same error when previously update network-manager from ubuntu-
  proposed, so I think this packet with regression moved to normal
  update.

  workaround: download old network-manager_1.1.93-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb and
install it using
  sudo dpkg -i network-manager_1.1.93-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb
  and lock version
  echo "network-manager hold" | sudo dpkg --set-selections

  "apt update" going to show network-manager as upgradable but "apt
  upgrage" going to ignore it

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1578589] nmcli-con.txt

2017-06-18 Thread Arno Teigseth
apport information

** Attachment added: "nmcli-con.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1578589/+attachment/4898392/+files/nmcli-con.txt

** Description changed:

  Networkmanager has no option for "none" as inner authentication.

  MSCHAPv2, GTC and MD5 are the only options.

  The page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1726522 suggests
  adding "none" as phase2-auth, but doing that syslog tells me the config
  for that network is invalid.

  However, this works fine with the wpa_supplicant config file
  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do (?)

Title:
  Add support for as inner authentication in PEAP

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Networkmanager has no option for "none" as inner authentication.

  MSCHAPv2, GTC and MD5 are the only options.

  The page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1726522 suggests
  adding "none" as phase2-auth, but doing that syslog tells me the
  config for that network is invalid.

  However, this works fine with the wpa_supplicant config file
  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do (?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1578589] NetworkManager.conf.txt

  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do (?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1578589] IpAddr.txt

  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do (?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1578589] Re: Add support for as inner authentication in PEAP

2017-06-18 Thread Arno Teigseth
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected sarah third-party-packages

** Description changed:

  Networkmanager has no option for "none" as inner authentication.

  MSCHAPv2, GTC and MD5 are the only options.

  The page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1726522 suggests
  adding "none" as phase2-auth, but doing that syslog tells me the config
  for that network is invalid.

  However, this works fine with the wpa_supplicant config file
  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  ~/scowlan.conf:

  ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=root
  network={
   ssid="PS-XWLAN"
   key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
   eap=PEAP
   phase1="peaplabel=0"
   phase2="none"
   identity="USERNAME"
   password="PASSWORD"
  }

  and running it like this works fine:
  wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c ~/scowlan.conf

  I guess adding "none" as a recognizable option in networkmanager will do (?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1774320] [NEW] Printing icon missing from "Show Applications"

2018-05-30 Thread Arno Versfeld
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 18.04 last week and everything works beautifully except that
the "printing" icon is missing from "Show Applications".
When I run "system-config-printer" from a terminal the "Printers - localhost"
opens up and shows the network printer.
When I use Synaptic and search for "system-config-printer-common" it finds it
and shows installed version 1.5.11-1ubuntu2.
When I run "system-config-printer" from a terminal the following displays
before the app is opened:

root@Ubuntu-18:/home/arno# system-config-printer
Error creating proxy: The connection is closed (g-io-error-quark, 18)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852016] Re: Applications delayed on launch

2021-09-25 Thread Arno Teigseth
I saw the same behavior as Sebastian in linux mint 20.2.
Tried with apps "flameshot" and "obs-studio" - both behave

QT apps are stuck about 25 seconds. Strace exactly like Sebastian's:

connect(12, {sa_family=AF_UNIX, sun_path="/run/user/1000/bus"}, 110) = 0
… yada yada …
poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000
… 25 second timeout …
(something in strace about … Timeout)

I was helped by (https://www.scivision.dev/disable-gnome-keyring-ssh-agent/)

Edit /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop to include the line:

X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false

and restart. Not just logout, full restart.

Now all same apps start in 0 secs.

Title:
  Applications delayed on launch

Status in dbus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello,

  i am unsure if this is really a problem with dbus but my first
  research showed it could be related to dbus.

  1.)
  No LSB modules are available.
  Distributor ID:   Ubuntu
  Description:  Ubuntu 19.10
  Release:  19.10
  Codename: eoan

  Ubuntu Budgie on T460 with 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM

  2.)
  dbus:
Installed: 1.12.14-1ubuntu2
Candidate: 1.12.14-1ubuntu2
Version table:
   *** 1.12.14-1ubuntu2 500
  500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu eoan/main amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  3.) I've expected just "normal" loading applications

  4.) Some applications are delayed at startup. The application will
  take around 30s to launch, but afterwards it just runs fine. Affected
  application I found so far are KeepassXC, Filezilla and OnlyOffice
  Desktop-Editor. From strace I saw this applications are stopping (for
  about 20-30s) at this point:

  connect(12, {sa_family=AF_UNIX, sun_path="/run/user/1000/bus"}, 110) = 0
  getpid()= 8165
  geteuid()   = 1000

  sendto(12, "BEGIN\r\n", 7, MSG_NOSIGNAL, NULL, 0) = 7
  write(15, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8)= 8
  eventfd2(0, EFD_CLOEXEC|EFD_NONBLOCK)   = 14
  write(14, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8)= 8
  write(15, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8)= 8
  poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=14, revents=POLLIN}])
  read(14, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 16)= 8
  poll([{fd=14, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000

  During my first research I found this following to topics related to the
issue:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1184774/some-applications-on-ubuntu-19-10-very-slow-to-start

  This Stackoverflow topic links to the archlinux forum:
  https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230036

  I can confirm that running the delayed applications with "dbus-launch
  --exit-with-session application" or by running it as root they are all
  starting without any delay.

  Thanks for your help! Let me know if you need any further information.

  Best Regards,
  Sebastian
