Update, this morning I selected Pre-release update in Software sources on my 15.10 install in Virtualbox, and after doing the partial update the animation works when the launcher is hidden. Unity version is 7.3.2 on both installs (raw metal and virtual). -- You received this bug notification

So it started working (I noticed it yesterday evening) on my install, I have Ubuntu 15.10 installed on a Dell notebook, when I minimize apps with launcher hidden the icon pops out. But I also have Ubuntu 15.10 installed on my desktop in Virtualbox and did a live session with a daily build where it

Public bug reported: While Ambiance/Radiance GTK theme is used by default for GTK aaplications, Adwaita Shell theme is set as default for Gnome Shell. This makes it a very odd combination. So while you have Ubuntu's theme with orange and purple on GTK applications, you have Adwaita blue for Gnome
