[Touch-packages] [Bug 1929209] [NEW] external monitor goes black for several seconds at a time, randomly
Public bug reported: At times it is completely debilitating; at other times it does not happen for hours. The physical connections are clean and solid. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1833114] Re: print page dialog latency when trying to cancel or to save
Actually, it is not true that this is solved under 19.10. All that has happened is that the latency has shortened to 1-2 seconds. It is *still* the case that during that time, I cannot get the focus in any other window or do anything else in the operating system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1833114 Title: print page dialog latency when trying to cancel or to save Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: New Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Since less than a month ago, using the print page dialog (which for me defaults to saving as PDF) is outlandishly slow. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1833114] Re: print page dialog latency when trying to cancel or to save
Yes, I have now very grudgingly upgraded to 19.10 and the problem seems to be resolved. This problem was new at some point in 19.04 (ie did not exist at first with 19.04) and I do not think pressuring eople to upgrade (so soon after a release) is a good solution. On the other hand, strangely, no one else has reported the bug. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1658497] Re: Screens all flash to black for ~1 s periodically under extended desktop
This sounds crazy, but this seems to happen much more frequently when I have, or am interacting with, a terminal or emacs in the second/external screen. The resolution of the display is huge, so these windows tend to be a small fraction of the display. Also, I think it's actually only the external screen which is going black. However, it started very clearly right when I upgraded. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658497 Title: Screens all flash to black for ~1 s periodically under extended desktop Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I just upgraded to 16.10 from 16.04. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1509846] Re: lightdm crashes on window open in Ubuntu 15.10 intel
This stream of comments is difficult to follow. If one of the most knowledgeable people could summarize where we are, it might be useful. I am experiencing this problem also, on a Lenovo X230 under Ubuntu 15.10, since a month or so ago. "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" certainly is not a solution for me (indeed, you might say that's what started the problem!), and I don't actually think Christopher M. Penalver was suggesting that as a fix. This is certainly a "critical" problem, and most frustrating a development for what was a stable machine. As I understand it: it will still be useful if I do a "ubuntu-bug xorg" after the next time it crashes, and after logging back in? (or from a tty login, before logging back in?). I have xdiagnose installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1509846 Title: lightdm crashes on window open in Ubuntu 15.10 intel Status in Light Display Manager: Confirmed Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Symptom: xorg crashes on windows creation How to reproduce: No 100% reproducibility, however intensively using 2D/3D acceleration triggers the bug (e.g. by opening several new windows and/or menus in a Unity desktop environment) Affected hardware: Intel HD Graphics 4400/5000 etc Affected software: - kernel 4.2.0-16-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 8 15:35:06 UTC 2015 x86_64 - Ubuntu 15.10 with Unity (because of compiz 2D/3D acceleration) - any other software using direct rendering (e.g. VLC) Workaround: - Disable window animations in Compiz reduces the frequency of the crashes. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1300462] Re: Login timed out after waking from suspend
... to follow up: in fact, it has not resolved itself in the 15.04 release. Often, things work better in that as soon as the machine waits up, it is waiting for a fingerprint scan. However, the rest of the time, it hangs for a tens of seconds with the authentication has timed out error message, and then solicits a password, and only then (after something incorrect has been entered) solicits a fingerprint reading. c -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300462 Title: Login timed out after waking from suspend Status in fprintd: Won't Fix Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm using fprint package for finger-print authentication. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1388887] Re: two cursors instead of one
This bug definitely occurs when I have not just rotated or un-rotated a screen. That is, the cursor can be fine, and then it suddenly changes to two cursors when some new window pops up or something (not sure what). However, I am using an external monitor which is rotated, at the time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137 Title: two cursors instead of one Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Since upgrading from 14.04 to 14.10, I sometimes (not sure what triggers or fixes it) have a double cursor. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1388887] Re: two cursors instead of one
Thanks! I do use external screen rotation when I'm docked. I hadn't noticed a simple association, but that might be at least one trigger for the problem. Also, trying these steps from the other bug: xrandr --output LVDS1 --rotate left # do something, click a few buttons... xrandr --output LVDS1 --rotate normal did cause a double cursor for me just now. So this is likely it. Does that mean we can easily get a fix in 14.10? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137 Title: two cursors instead of one Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Since upgrading from 14.04 to 14.10, I sometimes (not sure what triggers or fixes it) have a double cursor. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1382826] [NEW] During fresh install of 14.10 with existing /home partition, user is no longer able to graphical log in
Public bug reported: I installed 14.10 yesterday on a formatted partition next to a 13.04 system partition and a /home partition. When prompted for a username, etc, I entered the same user info as existed already in /home. Because it was the first user in both cases, the uid matched. (Gripe: unlike Linux more than 10 years ago, it did not offer to import existing users from the existing installation). When I booted up in 14.10, logging in through the GUI just bumped me back to the gdm login screen after a few seconds of blank screen. Logging in through a terminal worked fine. I then tried 13.04 and had the same problem! That is, 14.10 install had actually corrupted my user account on /home so that I could no longer startx ! I eventually noticed that some files (I think ~/.dmrc and some ~/.Xauthority.*) had ownership root:root. Thus, a workaround ended up being a sudo chmod -R myuser:myuser /home/myuser ~on my home folder. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1375505] [NEW] Screen locked into dimmed mode after sleep; brightness controls do nothing (Recent regression)
Public bug reported: After an update in the last week (and I have updated frequently, so it's new), my laptop is *sometimes* coming out of sleep from closing the lid with a fully-dimmed screen when it is waiting for me to reauthenticate to unlock the system. The brightness control keys, which normally work, do nothing. A workaround is to click on Switch user, whereupon it comes back with full brightness. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1371704] [NEW] flickering stripes/dashes screen corruption following recent update in 14.04
Public bug reported: After a regular update of my LTS during the last week, the screen has started showing corruption. For instance, when I maximise a window, the screen flickers for up to a second with an overlay of black dashes and stripes, sometimes in a chevron pattern or just horizontal black dashes covering the whole screen, especially on an external display. It does not show up in a screen capture.
