[Touch-packages] [Bug 2009700] [NEW] [lunar] missing key events with ibus 1.5.28

2023-03-08 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Public bug reported:

The new ibus 1.5.28 seem to have introduced a pretty serious bug:

https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5294

https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2485

Very good bug report, with test case and someone proposing a patch:
https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2480

"While playing TrackMania Nations Forever under Wine, I noticed that
sometimes (once in a few minutes) the car continued steering after fully
releasing the corresponding input key on my keyboard. Pressing and re-
releasing the corresponding input fixed the problem. So, it appears that
the game failed to register the key release event."

This is exactly the same issue I saw when playing Wine games.
Disabling ibus server (and switching to XIM) solved it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1960307] Re: No gstreamer dependency causes high-fidelity codecs to be missing for Bluetooth devices

2022-03-23 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
Up to date Jammy system as of today.
They bluetooth service list a number of aptx and ldac sink and source endpoints
now.
However I seem to be limited to the SBC codec still.

What exactly is the "pactl [...] list-codec" command you mentioned?

After the announcements of PulseAudio 15 and Gstreamer 1.20, which
both advertised LDAC and AptX (HD) support, I expected that jammy

Though in reality it seems that something is missing, gstreamer
reports that those codecs are supported but "pactl [...] list-codec"
  only lists sbc (and variants).

  Checking here https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy/pulseaudio-module-
bluetooth it seems that PulseAudio is not built with gstreamer
support, is that the current blocker?

able to boot. The error was something like:

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
  - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
  - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

And there was no neither my lvm lvs, nor lvm binary on initramfs.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1751414] Re: [regression] Missing Wayland login option and missing GL acceleration, after installing libegl1

2018-04-25 Thread Ernst Sjöstrand
apt-cache depends libegl1
libegl1
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libglvnd0
 |Depends: libegl-mesa0
  Depends:
libegl-mesa0
libnvidia-gl-390

For some reason libnvidia-gl-390 existed on my system (no nvidia hardware in
this system).
That caused libegl-mesa0 to not be installed and that broke my system.

Thanks Eugene, that finally solved it for me.

Happened when I upgraded my Intel-only system to Bionic just now.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1710637] Re: Input falls through to gdm3 and terminates the session on Ctrl+C

Could this be why I sometimes get no keyboard input at all in my user sessions

(Can type password in GDM, but then all keyboard input is lost until reboot.)

Multiple times a day I find myself without a session after hitting
Ctrl+C in a terminal, it seems the input falls through the
Ubuntu/GNOME session and to gdm, which itself decides to terminate.

Even worse, when this happens, you can briefly see your login password
in plaintext in the virtual terminal. You can see the password however
long you want if you stop the gdm service when this happens.

I don't have a good way to reproduce, but it seems locking the session
with a keyboard shortcut, subsequently unlocking it, maybe suspending,
at some point brings this behaviour into the picture, until the
  session dies with a Ctrl+C.

The Redhat patch is the same patch as the one that fixes Debian bug:

That patch is already upstream, where the debian package seems to be maintained

So in the Ubuntu standard package gallium_drv_video.so is not package:

In oibaf for example it is package in the mesa-vdpau-drivers package.

I get the following with radeonsi:

  Notes:
Currently (as of today) in ubuntu 15.10 nightly amd64, va-api(vaapi) on
AMD/Ati radeon opensource display hardware is using a vdpau backend 0.7.4 by
Splitted-Desktop Systems (wrapper) on gallium r600. Although its possible and
probably preferred (better performance less copying) to use a native
implementation which mesa(gallium) 10.4 and higher delivers in a form of a
va-api state tracker.

vainfo #current default setup vdpau backend
  libva info: VA-API version 0.38.0
  libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r600_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_37
  libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
  vainfo: VA-API version: 0.38 (libva 1.6.0)
vainfo: Driver version: Splitted-Desktop Systems VDPAU backend for VA-API -
0.7.4
  vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
    VAProfileMPEG2Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileMPEG4Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileMPEG4AdvancedSimple: VAEntrypointVLD

    VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileVC1Advanced: VAEntrypointVLD

The preferred setup needs that "gallium_drv_video.so" binary which is
currently unavailable in ubuntu and debian. As an example I added a
package/binary from archlinux. Copying the gallium_drv_video.so to
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/ and symlinking(correcting) the
libLLVM-3.6.so to arch-linux default /usr/lib/ location and exporting
a variable was enough to make it work!
  https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libva-mesa-driver/
  #example by archlinux

  export LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=gallium
vainfo #preferred setup using gallium va-api from arch-linux (symlinked
libLLVM-3.6.so to /usr/lib)
  libva info: VA-API version 0.38.0
  libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: User requested driver 'gallium'
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/gallium_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_38
  libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
  vainfo: VA-API version: 0.38 (libva 1.6.0)
vainfo: Driver version: mesa gallium vaapi
  vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
    VAProfileMPEG2Simple: VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileMPEG4Simple: VAEntrypointVLD

    VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
    VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD

I guess this binary "gallium_drv_video.so" might be available as a
compile flag in the current mesa

You could argue that this is a very severe regression though...

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Pulseaudio frequently crashes when Skype or some games (e.g. BigPharma from

audio is broken forever for them.
