Title:
1.22.10-1ubuntu2.1 Sporadic WiFi network disconnect after Ubuntu 18.04
  -> 20.04

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Hi, I am getting this highly recurrent problem in which the network
inadvertently 'disconnects' for a minute or two and then automatically
reconnects. It is so recurrent that it makes browsing, maintaining an
ssh connection and simple tasks almost impossible. I find that the
network disconnects and it does not re-connect until the successful
finish of a wifi-scan. I don't know what triggers the initial
disconnect, maybe the wpa_supplicant dbus performing a
flush_object_timeout_handler. Fixing the BSSID does not seem to help
since the disconnect is still triggered but the reconnect is not
  performed until a manual WiFi-scan.

I'm using the r88x2bu network driver from the rtl88x2bu-dkms package
for WiFi. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but this has not
  helped.

  The network-manager package version: 1.22.10-1ubuntu2.1

Here is some information about the network.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1881966] Re: Sporadic network disconnect and re-connect during wifi-scan after upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04

2020-06-12 Thread Felipe Moreno
For troubleshooting, I have tried using a fixed BSSID, as proposed in
(https://blogs.gnome.org/dcbw/2016/05/16/networkmanager-and-wifi-
scans/), but the issue persists. While the BSSID is static, I still get
the sporadic disconnect, but there is no automatic re-connect. In fact,
there is no re-connect until I perform a manual wifi-scan, at which
point the network connection gets re-established.

I also tried disabling the NetworkManager as proposed here
(https://askubuntu.com/questions/230660/disabling-network-manager-gnome-
wireless-scanning-when-connected), but it did not help and just made the
desktop much buggier.

Please, let me know if there is any other information I should provide
to help resolve this bug. Thanks.

Title:
Sporadic network disconnect and re-connect during wifi-scan after
upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Hi, I am getting this highly recurrent problem in which the network
inadvertently 'disconnects' for a minute or two and then automatically
reconnects. It is so recurrent that it makes browsing and simple tasks
almost impossible. My best guess is that this problem is a bug in the
new NetworkManager, probably a blocking thread while network-manager
  performs a routine wifi-scan.

Title:
Sporadic network disconnect and re-connect during wifi-scan after
upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Hi, I am getting this highly recurrent problem in which the network
inadvertently 'disconnects' for a minute or two and then automatically
reconnects. It is so recurrent that it makes browsing and simple tasks
almost impossible. My best guess is that this problem is a bug in the
new NetworkManager, probably a blocking thread while network-manager
  performs a routine wifi-scan.

I'm using the r88x2bu network driver from the rtl88x2bu-dkms package
for WiFi. Here is some information about the network.

  $ nmcli c
  NAMEUUID TYPE DEVICE
  MIT SECURE 8b2ea417-ed65-4e36-a63e-a231344af87a wifi

  Wired connection 1 bfacd008-8aae-3219-b84f-6d5dc9f0d9fa ethernet --

  $ nmcli d

  virbr0 bridgeconnectedvirbr0
  enp3s0 ethernet unavailable --
  lo loopback unmanaged--
  virbr0-nic tun unmanaged--

I have attached the system logs, which have the NetworkManager and
wpa_supplicant logging level set to DEBUG.

I am happy to provide any information necessary to resolve this issue. Thanks
