[Touch-packages] [Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails

2017-04-19 Thread Gregory Opera
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ("Xenial Xerus") here, and I too have no notifications
for new e-mails... "Pulling" to refresh does not seem to work, and
closing then re-opening usually doesn't work either.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1627252] Re: Recognize album artwork with "Album title.supported_extension" filename

2016-09-24 Thread Gregory Opera
Whilst I can only speak for myself, I know that Fiio's music players
support such a format for album artwork, and back when I used to use
Microsoft Windows-based operating systems exclusively, a number of
programs also supported album artwork in this format.

We also have Sony Blu-Ray Disk players and various-brand televisions
that detect album artwork based on this filename format.

  * .folder
  * folder

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607531] Re: Music ignores local album artwork.

2016-09-23 Thread Gregory Opera
In my experience, most music programs and applications recognize "album
title.supported_extension" as album artwork, usually in addition to the
same or similar filename structures you list above... That was why I
thought there was a bug.

I agree that there is no bug here, though I still think there is a
design flaw.

I'll close this "bug" and raise a request for "album
title.supported_extension" to be added to the "wishlist" for Music...

Thanks for clearing that up though, Michi.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607531] Re: Music ignores local album artwork.

2016-09-23 Thread Gregory Opera
Okay, so in my experimenting, I accidentally discovered something - some
of the albums that have "working" album artwork have the album artwork
in the same folder with the filename "cover.jpg", whilst all of the
albums that do not have working album artwork have the filename "album
title.jpg"... From what I can see though, this is not consistent as a
bit more digging around shows that some of the albums with "working"
album artwork use the filename "album title.jpg".

I have attached an animation showing the file structure of a typical
album (note the So Country 2014 is the album in which I renamed the
album artwork to "cover.jpg" to experiment).

* So Country 2014 previously displayed no album artwork when it used the
filename "So Country 2014.jpg", but after I changed the name to "cover.jpg" and
restarted, it now works.
* So Country 2015 is displaying the incorrect album artwork from an external
source and as you can see, uses the filename "So Country 2015.jpg".
* So Country 2016 is displaying the incorrect album artwork from an external
source (interestingly, one that does not even remotely resemble it!) and as you
can see, uses the filename "So Country 2016.jpg".
* So Fresh Dance is displaying the correct album artwork and as you can see,
uses the filename "cover.jpg" (not sure why this is, as I use "album title.jpg"
- maybe Rhythmbox changed the filename at some point?).

I also have other albums (not shown in the animation) that display the
album artwork correctly and use the filename "album title.jpg".

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1493722] Re: [Media services] Volume up/down long press should skip to next/previous track

2016-09-22 Thread Gregory Opera
Considering Ubuntu (Touch) currently does not work with the "media

should be fast-tracked... It could serve as an interim solution and even
if you look beyond that, it's a great suggestion (particularly for those
using wired headsets/headphones).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1505970] Re: [Icons] Web Browser icon is not distinctive to the Ubuntu brand

2016-06-11 Thread Gregory Opera
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1358050 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358050

I agree, it would be *nice* to have something with an "Ubuntu feel" to
it... But it's hardly a priority.

There's plenty of other things (such as bookmarks synchronization
between a computer and a mobile device) that I'd love to see before the
focus is on a new icon.

Of course, the flip side of the argument is that a new icon is one of
the easier things to implement in the development of software - why not
have a competition (via OMG! Ubuntu! perhaps?) for a new icon?

You don't necessarily need to offer any sort of significant prize -
though that would of course, be an incentive - but there would
automatically be the honour of being the one whom created to iconic
Ubuntu Browser icon which is used going forwards...

I'm not the most artistic person, but I know I would give it a shot.

There's always Echoprint, which is an Open Source equivalent of Sony's

laid.

Bug description:
  Screenshot audio is not using alert role causing music to stop

  What happened:
  1) Open the music-app and play some music
  2) Take a screenshot
  3) Notice when the audio plays that the music stops

  What was expected to happen:
  At step 3 for the music to 'duck' while the alert is being played and then

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1568310] Re: BQ E4.5 (OTA-10): gallery-app tries to index thousands of files on the SD card, but should not

2016-04-17 Thread Gregory Opera
Same here - Gallery is ignoring the ".nomedia" file (which should hide
any content in the same directory as this file), whilst other
applications, Scopes and web apps do not...

Folders containing ".nomedia" should not have their content shown in
Gallery.

  BQ E4.5 (OTA-10): gallery-app tries to index thousands of files on the

Bug description:

  The app gallery did not started anymore in my BQ E4.5, it was just
  sitting there and loading for hours without coming to an end. I
investigated
  it with strace and lsof and saw the app was searching through all the
  100.000 files (OSM tiles) on my SD card. While the SD card managment app
  supports placing a file there with the name '.nomedia' so the SD Card
  app ignores all files and dirs below:

  $ ls -la /media/phablet/4BDC-71D9/Maps
  total 840900
  drwxr-xr-x  3 phablet phablet  4096 Apr  7 09:25 .
  drwxr-xr-x  8 phablet phablet  4096 Jan  1  1970 ..
  -rw-r--r--  1 phablet phablet 0 Apr  4 14:58 .nomedia
  drwxr-xr-x 19 phablet phablet  4096 Apr  4 14:08 osm

  $ find /media/phablet/4BDC-71D9/Maps/osm | wc -l
  129236

  it seems that the gallery-app does not honor this file '.nomedia'.

  Any idea for a workaround in the gallery-app?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398193] Re: The bluetooth headset can not control the media playback

2016-02-22 Thread Gregory Opera
Tested using...
AfterShokz Trekz Titanium

bq Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1392699] Re: Can't change locale settings (e.g. language, 12/24-hour time, date format) independently

2016-02-22 Thread Gregory Opera
Introduce 24-hour ("military") time... My (Ubuntu) computer can do it,
and I use it daily in my line of work; not having this is frustrating.

Bug description:
  A. Try to use US English, but with all apps using 24-hour instead of 12-hour
time. Or:
  B. Try to use UK English, but with all apps using -MM-DD date format.

  What happens: You can't.
  What should happen: You can.

  Since Ubuntu has existed, it has used the GNU locale system. This
  system assumes that every single person using a particular locale
  wants exactly the same settings for time display, date display,
  currency display, alphabetizing, and number formatting.

  Windows, Mac OS, and (to a lesser extent) iOS have always been more
  flexible: setting a locale sets appropriate defaults for these
  settings, but you can also change them individually. Ubuntu should do
  the same.

  This might involve changing the locale system itself, or it might
  involve changing all relevant toolkits so that they ignore the locale
  system when appropriate.

  It would also involve adding settings in System Settings to customize
  the individual locale details.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1442735] Re: [Address book] There is no way to bulk import/export contacts from SD card

2016-02-22 Thread Gregory Opera
I had the same problem on my bq Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition, running Ubuntu
15.04 (OTA-9)...
* OS build number: OTA-9
* Ubuntu image part: 20160123.1
* Ubuntu build description: Ubuntu 15.04 - armhf (20160123-115651)
* Device image part: 20160108-efc96d8
* Device build description: VEGETA01A-S23A_BQ_L100EN_2009_160123
* Customization image part: 20160111-926-36--vivid

This was using a vCard (".vcf") file of all my contacts, exported from
Roundcube Webmail 1.0.6... I had the vCard file on removable storage and
the only way to import my contacts was to click the vCard file in File
Manager.

Bug description:
  In ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en #20

  Description
  Initial condition: Trying to export/import contacts from an SD card or sim
card in use

  Steps: Go to Contacts app, try to import/export a bunch of contacts

  Expected results: There's some mechanism in place to do a mass
  import/export of contacts

  Actual results: there's no way of doing that, except by using a google
  account synchronization.

  additional info: new customers are requesting this feature

   UX comment --

  Desired resolution:
  Once this feature is available it will sit in the app settings of the Address
Book as a separate list item with a chevron on the right hand side. Import from
SIM card is already available from within the settings the same way.
