Title:
[MS-7698, ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] fails after a while

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Sound is available after booting but goes away after 5-120 minutes.
Sound failure does not appear to be associated with anything other
  than the passage of time.

This problem appeared after I ran an upgrade on 2013-05-18 which affected 82
packages, notably
         alsa-utils:i386 (1.0.25-1ubuntu5, 1.0.25-1ubuntu5.2),
         libasound2:i386 (1.0.25-1ubuntu10.1, 1.0.25-1ubuntu10.2),
Previously the system had worked flawlessly for many months.

  Thank you.
