  Mentions disappear

Status in friends package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Sometimes the mention tab is just empty. I am not sure why this is
happening but I guess there is some cleanup in friends that removes
  old messages?

I would expect that at least 20 of the most recent mentions are show
  but they aren't.

Rob: Can you point me to where this could happen? I just looked
through the code but couldn't find any "cleanup" stuff.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1168926] Re: Active applications for sending messages : settings not saved

Title:
Active applications for sending messages : settings not saved

Status in friends-app package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Hello,

Advantage of Friends is to get in the same timeline many accounts in
the same time - Identica, Twitter, Facebook etc...

But we don't want always to post an update to ALL of them.

So on the "Share with your friends" window, there is a list of all
accounts associated to Friends, with the possibility to check or not
  each of them.

Personally, I have for the moment Identica and Facebook, but use this
one only to read status of my friends and "like" some of them.

When I post a message, 99% of the time it's for Identica only.

So I uncheck the Facebook row.

A few minutes later, if I want to send another message, Facebook is
  still unchecked, fine.

But if I close and re-launch Friends, or at each computer startup,
always all accounts are ticked by default, my settings are not
  remembered.

With Gwibber previously settings were saved, and I had to manually
recheck Facebook if I wanted to post on this network. Here it's a
problem because on Friends, each time I run the soft, I have to untick
  it.

I guess more configuration will come in the next versions, but it
would be great to be able to choice weather accounts settings must be
  saved or not.

Because later, when there will me more complete Twitter integration
(with discussion view, interaction...) I will add it, also a Flickr or
perhaps future Instagram account etc... but I mostly use Identica
(with crosspost to Twitter) for new messages or Identica / Twitter for
replies, and I do not want to have to uncheck each time all other
  accounts.

  Thanks !

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1863958] [NEW] Bluez doesn't work well with Multipoint Audio Devices

2020-02-19 Thread Kai Mast
Public bug reported:

Modern bluetooth devices allow to connect to multiple computers at once
(aka "multi-point"). My headset, for example, can connect to my cell
phone and my laptop at the same time. Connecting actually works fairly
well with bluez.

The desired behaviour is the following: When I try to play audio on one
device it should play on the bluetooth headphones unless the other
device is already playing audio.

However, with my current setup this doesn't work well.

Steps to repproduce
1. I play some youtube video on my laptop
2. I stop the video (and even close the tab)
3. I start playing musing on phone

Expected:
4. I can hear the phone's music on my headphones

Actual:
4. I cannot hear the phones music until I turn bluetooth on my laptop of or
switch the output device in the sound panel.

I am on Ubuntu 20.04, my headphones are the Bose 700, and my phone is
just a regular Android device.

Bug description:
The current version of protbuf in the Ubuntu 16.10 Repository

"Every message generates an unused parameter warning for bool
  deterministic in ::google::protobuf::uint8*
  ::InternalSerializeWithCachedSizesToArray( bool
  deterministic, ::google::protobuf::uint8* target) const. "

My project uses -Werror, and thus does not compile in current Ubuntu
  because of messages like this:

I would expect code being created by protobuf does not cause any
  warnings or errors.

  Hi All,

basically there are three things that block me to move to Ubuntu
Touch. A missing spotify app (already in developement :) ), a missing
mail app (planned for 14.04 :) ) and finally a missing IM app --
  especially for XMPP.

Thusly, I propose adding support for XMPP to the messaging-app. It
already uses telepathy so we should be able to add this functionality.
I would also be willing to work on this if somebody points me out
  where to start.

I guess we would have to break this down into several work packages:
setting up accounts, online/offline handling of friends, choosing
protocols when composing a message etc. But first I would like to get
some feedback if you would be okay with such a feature. Maybe it is

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1247216] Re: Support for XMPP

2016-01-19 Thread Kai Mast
I feel like the ship has sailed on this when Canoncial decided to write
a seperate app for Telegram.

You could have a single unified messaging app for telegram, sms, texsecure and
more if you wanted to. This is possible. Remember that Maemo even had a skype
plugin for telepathy (and it was awesome!).
This would be such a killer feature and you could actually make an argument for
people to use ubuntu on their phones because of this.

But it doesn't seem to happen.

Bug description:
  Hi All,

basically there are three things that block me to move to Ubuntu

Maybe it is
  already planned?

In the control center i can add multiple timezones. Whenever I move
around i need to set the new timezone manually. It would be so cool if I
could just switch between my preconfigured locations.

This would also prevent things like #87

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1445755] Re: Provide a way to hide images from a particular location

2015-12-21 Thread Kai Mast
Seems like the gallery-app scans your whole home folder and media
folders. Starting the app for the first time takes like 10 minutes for
me because of that.

I also store my pictures on a different drive (mounted to /mnt/xyz), and
there seems no way to configure that. Should I file a separate bug for
this?

I've put about 30GB of music in my SD card. Some of the music files

  art images.

When I then opened the Gallery app, I noticed I now have thousands of
"pictures" imported from the cover art images showing up in my Events
and Pictures tabs, cluttering the real pictures I've taken with the
  camera.

Is there a way to tell either mediascanner or the Gallery app to
ignore a path and not import/show the images there? E.g. similar to
Android, where you can put a .nomedia file in a folder and its images
won't show up in the picture viewer.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1506736] Re: Server crashes after undocking from docking station

Still persists upstream.

But it only seems to happen when I watch netflix with google chrome
while undocking. Also, the audio continues to play after the xserver
crashed, i.e. I see the tty but still hear the audio.

upstart jobs do not respect /etc/security/limits.conf

Status in CUPS:

Status in MySQL Server:

Status in upstart :

Status in upstart package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I run a terminalserver under Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) and CUPS
1.5.0-8ubuntu6. Unfortunately i get "Max clients reached, holding new
  connections..." error.

I try to increase the MaxClients value to 8192 in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
(and LogLevel to debug) but CUPS reduces this to 1/3 of file
descriptor limit from the system with is by default 1024:

  /var/log/cups/error_log
  I [22/Feb/2012:12:02:37 +0100] Using default TempDir of /var/spool/cups/tmp...
  I [22/Feb/2012:12:02:37 +0100] MaxClients limited to 1/3 (341) of the file
descriptor limit (1024)...
  I [22/Feb/2012:12:02:37 +0100] Configured for up to 341 clients.

Also i try to set higher file descriptor limit in /etc/security/limits.conf
  root hard nofile 64000
  root soft nofile 64000

and also add "session required pam_limits.so" to /etc/pam.d/common-
session but CUPS set still MaxClients to 341.

  Ulimit seams to works fine:
  root@ts:~# ulimit -n
  64000

Before i upgrade to Oneiric i have same configuration on Ubuntu 10.04
Lucid and CUPS 1.4.3-1ubuntu1 with works fine.

This seams to by a similar bug to:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446023

Lets me know if you need some more information.

  BR Pawel

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1280555] Re: Square Icons should not have a border

2015-09-21 Thread Kai Mast
I am talking about how the icons are rendered in unity7.
A square icons gets an additional square border which seems off.

You can probably mark this as wont fix as unity7 is in maintenance mode.

I know this bug is similar to #703536, but as more and more icons of

evaluate adding such an improvement again.

[ffe] Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status

Bug description:
I have an EliteBook 8540w with internal and external battery running Ubuntu
11.10 (oneiric).
  Linux 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The power indicator (indicator-power, version 0.9-0ubuntu2) does not combine
the status of both batteries.
E.g. if one battery still has 1 hour left, and the other has 2 hours left, it
will show 1:00 or 2:00, instead of 3:00.
E.g. When the external battery is almost run out (but the internal one is
still charged), the indicator becomes red, instead of staying white/grey. It
should only be red when both batteries are almost drained.
E.g. when the internal one is fully charged, and the external one is
discharging, the estimated time show is the estimated time that the external
one will be discharged, not taking into account the internal one. see attached
screenshot (total time show should be around 4 hours)

The original applet provided by gnome (I re-enabled the notification
area) does (still) have the behavior as I expect. In other words, this
  is a regression compared to 10.10 (pre-unity).

  : "If a device has
multiple batteries and uses only one of them at a time, they should be
presented as separate items inside the battery menu, but everywhere
else they should be aggregated. Their percentages should be averaged.
If any are discharging, the aggregated time remaining should be the
maximum of the times for all those that are discharging, plus the sum
of the times for all those that are idle. Otherwise, the aggregated
time remaining should be the the maximum of the times for all those
  that are charging."

I think there is no momentum here anymore because almost nobody still

I hope that at Ubuntu touch will get support for the textsecure protocol

Title:
  Support for XMPP

Status in messaging-app package in Ubuntu:

Status in ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi All,

basically there are three things that block me to move to Ubuntu

Maybe it is
  already planned?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 880881] Re: [ffe] Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status

2015-07-05 Thread Kai Mast
I don't feel like this is fixed.

I have two batteries: one has 1 minute left and the other one 21. Now I
get a notification that I have 5 minutes left. I am confused

Title:
[ffe] Power indicator does not combine multiple battery status

Status in The Power Indicator:
  Fix Released
Status in indicator-power package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

In other words, this
  is a regression compared to 10.10 (pre-unity).

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Power#multiple-batteries: If a device has
multiple batteries and uses only one of them at a time, they should be
presented as separate items inside the battery menu, but everywhere
else they should be aggregated. Their percentages should be averaged.
If any are discharging, the aggregated time remaining should be the
maximum of the times for all those that are discharging, plus the sum
of the times for all those that are idle. Otherwise, the aggregated
time remaining should be the the maximum of the times for all those
  that are charging.

There is no way to bring it focus using the sound menu.

  Hi!
I developed a player for play noise sounds from the sound indicator.

  I'm using this library:

http://theravingrick.blogspot.com.es/2011/02/easily-support-sound-menu-in-python.html
  in my code:
  https://code.launchpad.net/anoise

When the player is running, the entry in the sound indicator is grey out, as
you can see in the attachment.
But all works fine anyway. It's just the grey color.

I reviewed all the code and library and I'm stuck in this issue.
  FYI, these tests:
  1. With the precise indicator-sound is not grey.
  2. In Ubuntu MATE is not grey.
  3. The library is returning a critical error:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/10730511/ But others players aren't grey.

  Thanks in advance!!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1262607] Re: Social notifications only appear after mediaplayer is opened

Friends has sadly been purged from Ubuntu :/ I guess we can close this
for now.

Title:
Social notifications only appear after mediaplayer is opened

Status in friends package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
I only just put 2 and 2 together to figure this out. It's not
technically a regression because it's been like this for a while, I
  just never realised.

Flash mako with a recent release.
Add some social network connections in System Settings - Accounts
  (I setup twitter and facebook)
Put some videos on the phone
  Reboot phone
Wait until someone tweets at you or sends you fb messages.
Observe you get no notification of those tweets
Start watching a video on the phone.
Notice that the tweets suddenly come through while the video plays

Looks like the mediaplayer app has some social integration which
forces friends to sign in? These should appear without me having to
play a video or open friends.

  e.g.
Rebooted phone, tweet sent via desktop
  10:31: https://twitter.com/popey/status/413617641954488320 sent at 10:31
  10:32: https://twitter.com/DaubHack/status/41361778116722 received (on
desktop) at 10:32
  10:33: https://twitter.com/semachthemonkey/status/413618170357096448 received
(on desktop) at 10:33
  etc
10:34: - no tweet notifications received on phone at all.
10:51: - open media player - get spammed with tweets above and more dating
back a couple of days.

Yes. I realize this only happens when I also have ubuntu-desktop-next
installed. So probably the unity8 stuff breaks something.

bluetooth indicator doesn't work properly after hibernate

Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
If I shut down the computer and restart it the bluetooth-indicator
  works fine

However if I hibernate the computer and start it again, the ON-OFF
switch in the bluetooth-indicator does not change the icon (so if the
switch is changed to ON the indicator stays greyed out).

If I go to control-center Bluetooth, and change the state there the
  indicator starts to work again

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1283763] Re: Cannot connect to WPA Enterprise networks

I would not consider this bug wishlist, by the way.

Many universities use WPA enterprise networks. So this bug makes unity-
desktop-next unusable for me.
