[Touch-packages] [Bug 1437377] [NEW] Upowerd eats 100% memory

2015-03-27 Thread Krzysztof Dryja
Public bug reported:

I'm having this issue since Ubuntu 14.04.

Now I'm on 14.10.

Gnome-shell 3.14.3

Kernel 3.16.0-29-generic x86_64

UPower client version 0.99.1
UPower daemon version 0.99.1

Almost every single day I have an issue with upowerd process(es).
Suddenly upowerd process(es) eats 100% memory, system freezes due to
memory lack. I have a 16GB of RAM and upowerd can eat ANY amount.

I think I have seen similar problem reported while ago, unfortunately I
cannot find it right now. If you find it please set this topic as
duplicate.

Anyway - I am looking for a solution. It's a nightmare getting my system
freezed every day...

Thanks!

Guys, how to implement the fix on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS without upgrading
Ubuntu to the latest version?

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: upower

I currently have 36 days of uptime on my laptop (using suspend a lot)
and over time, I've noticed that the upowerd process got to the top of
the list in terms of memory usage by claiming 1GB+. I can manage with
this situation since I have 6GB of physical memory, but I'm sure that
people with less in their laptops will not be so fortunate.
