I also got this error when I tried to upgrade. Upon trying 'apt
reinstall linux-firmware' I get the following:

I am running on a relatively new GIGABYTE B650M AORUS ELITE AX AM5 motherboard
with an AMD 7900 CPU and am configured using a bootable ZFS configuration that
was updating fine, previously. 'dpkg -l' shows the offending package version
info as:
iF linux-firmware 20220329.git681281e4-0ubuntu3.14
