[Touch-packages] [Bug 1859972] [NEW] UFW doesn't support SCTP

2020-01-16 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
Public bug reported:

It appears that UFW only supports UDP and TCP while I have a need to
also manage SCTP ports.

As iptables supports SCTP, I have understood that I can edit the rules
by myself under /etc/ufw/, but it would be easier and less error-prone
if UFW supported SCTP directly like TCP and UDP.

I have also heard of DDCP together with SCTP and while I don't think I
will need to touch it, I wonder could UFW support everything that
iptables does and if iptables refuses something, could UFW then refuse
it too? (Sorry about asking two things in one bug report.)

I originally asked about SCTP in
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ufw/+question/688017 and I
am not sure how to transfer it into a question.

** Affects: ufw (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1322024] Re: Make Hexchat the default IRC client instead of XChat in Ubuntu 14.10 and later versions

2016-05-15 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
It seems HexChat is removed from Ubuntu 16.04 repositories.
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=xchat

I marked my bug as "fix released", but I am not sure if I should do it
here as I haven't done the removal or reported this bug and this seems
to be reported against two packages/projects.

  Since XChat is no longer in development by it's main developer, I was
  thinking that maybe you guys should make HexChat the default IRC
  client for Ubuntu 14.10, if it isn't already the default IRC client in
  Ubuntu 14.04. It's a great IRC client, and it's much better than
  XChat. So I would really appreciate it if you guys could make HexChat
  the default IRC client in the next release of Ubuntu.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1373598] Re: apt-get update fails, hash sum mismatches with de.archive.ubuntu.com

2016-05-07 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
I haven't ran Ubuntu on DigitalOcean for some time, but on home Ubuntu
PCs the only mirror that works is `mirror.ubuntu.com`.

I know I am not supposed to use it and it's only meant for mirrors, but
I consider using it as less bad than be left without updates entirely
and thanks to this issue I have to use it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1534142] [NEW] When using unbound as DNS proxy, only 3 nameservers get used

2016-01-14 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
Public bug reported:

I am using unbound as DNS proxy as documented in `man
NetworkManager.conf`, so I also have dnssec-triggerd installed.

When I check my DNS servers I see:

```
% nmcli dev show|grep -i dns
IP4.DNS[1]: 8.8.8.8
IP4.DNS[2]: 172.16.0.1
IP6.DNS[1]: 2001:14ba:f5:1e00::1
```

The first is Google DNS IPv4, the second my router IPv4 and the third my
router IPv6 and finally the fourh Google DNS IPv6. But there is no
fourth DNS server. NetworkManager only receives three.

```
   unbound: NetworkManager will talk to unbound and dnssec-triggerd,
   providing a "split DNS" configuration with DNSSEC support. The
   /etc/resolv.conf will be managed by dnssec-trigger daemon.
   none: NetworkManager will not modify resolv.conf
```

I believe NetworkManager should receive at least 4 DNS servers as
dualstack ISPs usually have two DNS servers or dualstack routers are
configured with four. Windows also allows two DNS servers per Internet
Protocol.

I think this also applies to dnsmasq and is possibly related to bug
#1534055 in glibc.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1343488] Re: chfn doesn't allow me to change my name

2016-01-09 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
This should be duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shadow/+bug/1343489 as I never
noticed there were two reports opened and all comments were written to
that bug. I copy-pate updated the description on this as I regret my
original "avautuminen" on both.

** Description changed:

  I have shell access to some systems where I am not root. I am trans
  woman and I legally changed my name in March and noticed that some
  systems are still showing my old name.

  I then tried to fix it by running `chfn` which helpfully automatically
  filled my old name and went to next field, "room number". I couldn't
- find reason for this from quick google search nor the manual page. Why
- Ubuntu doesn't respect the right of self-definition, isn't this against
- the Coc?
+ find reason for this from quick google search nor the manual page.

+ UPDATE: I tried this on both systems, remote and local with same result.

This has been happening for a long time, possibly years and I was
surprised that I wasn't able to find bug report by searching bugs for
package apt with search term 103 redirect.

I have learned that workaround for this issue is `cd
/var/lib/apt/lists;rm *;cd partial;rm *;cd`.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1322024] Re: Make Hexchat the default IRC client instead of XChat in Ubuntu 14.10

2015-06-18 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
Somewhat related:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xchat/+bug/1437272

It would be nice if XChat could be dropped from repositories entirely or
made meta-package bringing HexChat as talked on #ubuntu-irc now.

Title:
  Make Hexchat the default IRC client instead of XChat in Ubuntu 14.10

Status in ubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Since XChat is no longer in development by it's main developer, I was
  thinking that maybe you guys should make HexChat the default IRC
  client for Ubuntu 14.10, if it isn't already the default IRC client in
  Ubuntu 14.04. It's a great IRC client, and it's much better than
  XChat. So I would really appreciate it if you guys could make HexChat
  the default IRC client in the next release of Ubuntu.

2015-06-11 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
I have been seeing this a lot lately on DigitalOcean using
mirrors.ubuntu.com/mirrrors.txt which gives me the following mirrors:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1343489] Re: chfn doesn't allow me to change my name

2014-08-05 Thread Mikaela Suomalainen
** Description changed:

  I have shell access to some systems where I am not root. I am trans
  woman and I legally changed my name in March and noticed that some
  systems are still showing my old name.

  I then tried to fix it by running `chfn` which helpfully automatically
  filled my old name and went to next field, room number. I couldn't
- find reason for this from quick google search nor the manual page. Why
- Ubuntu doesn't respect the right of self-definition, isn't this against
- the Coc?
+ find reason for this from quick google search nor the manual page.
+ Sorry for this part, I was angry and didn't think that this could be
+ found offensive.

  UPDATE: I tried this on both systems, remote and local with same result.

  UPDATE2: FreeBSD allows changing all details with chsh including name. I
  also tested with OS X which allows it too.

+ UPDATE3: Removing of CoC referral
+
+ IMO it's not a completely bad idea to not allow changing that by
