[Touch-packages] [Bug 1540811] [NEW] [GDK] patch - avoid integer overflow when allocating a large block of memory
Public bug reported: [Impact] Due to a logic error, an attempt to allocate a large block of memory fails in gdk_cairo_set_source_pixbuf, leading to a crash of the app that called it, for example, eom [1]. This issue had been fixed [2] in GTK+3, but GTK+2 apps that use the mentioned function still crash when trying to allocate a lot of memory. An example of such app is eom (Eye of MATE), an image viewer, which crashes when trying to load a large image. I propose fixing it in current Ubuntu releases with the patch which fixes the crash. The debdiffs are in the attachments in the comments below. [Test Case] Steps to reproduce: 1. Have a 64-bit installation of Ubuntu. 2. Install eom if it isn't installed. 3. Download the archive from the attachment of this post and unpack it. (Firefox doesn't allow me to upload image as is - tries to make thumbnail of it right in the file open dialog, then crashes.) 4. Open the unpacked image (27000_27000_1437947845.png) in eom. 5. eom crashes. The full backtrace is at [3]. You'll also see an error message: "failed to allocate 18446744072330584320 bytes". This huge number appears due to overflow during multiplication of two 32-bit signed integers. In the patch, this error is avoided by using a different memory allocation function. [Regression Potential] After several months of testing the patch in Debian Jessie, Debian Testing and Ubuntu 14.04, I haven't noticed any regressions. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1445436] Re: Segmentation faults in libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0
Hi David, Julian, and Michael (hope the subscription worked as it should), I couldn't find any -dbg package for apt or libapt-pkg, so I couldn't obtain the full backtrace. Nevertheless, what I've got via gdb showed me that the issue is the same as it was in Debian [1]. David's commit [2] which fixed the problem for apt 1.0.5 also applies cleanly in Trusty's apt 1.0.1ubuntu2.10, and it fixes the problem here as well. So please push it to Trusty. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1351890] Re: Changing external screen resolution with dual monitors
Attached the patch for GTK+2 which makes gdk_event_apply_filters function safe against changes in filter list. This patch is cherry- picked from GTK+3 and adapted to GTK+2. I've tested it in Precise, Trusty and Utopic. It applies cleanly in all three Ubuntu releases, and mate-display-properties doesn't crash anymore after GTK+2 is patched. ** Patch added: This patch makes gdk_event_apply_filters function safe against changes in filter list. https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/1351890/+attachment/4317115/+files/fix_gdk_event_apply_filters.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351890 Title: Changing external screen resolution with dual monitors Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit: Fix Released Status in Ubuntu MATE: Confirmed Status in gtk+2.0 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in mate-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gtk+2.0 package in Debian: Unknown Bug description: Changing extrnal screen resolution with dual mon ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: mate-control-center 1.8.1+dfsg1-4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-6.11-generic 3.16.0-rc7 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-6-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.5-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CrashCounter: 1 Date: Sun Aug 3 07:09:21 2014 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/mate-display-properties InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-03 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu MATE 14.10 Utopic Unicorn - Alpha i386 (20140731) ProcCmdline: mate-display-properties SegvAnalysis: Skipped: missing required field Disassembly Signal: 11 SourcePackage: mate-control-center UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/1351890/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398828] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in rate_limiter_free()
This looks more like a glib2.0 bug. The whole stacktrace is made of the functions from gio or glib. First g_hash_table_foreach_remove_or_steal function calls g_hash_table_remove_node [1], then it gets to rate_limiter_free function, whose argument (limiter) equals 0 at that moment for some reason. Right after that it crashes on dereferencing NULL pointer [2]. I can't explain why all that happens, it's all internal glib/gio stuff, but I'm pretty sure something should be corrected in that code. The similar report from Fedora 20 where glib2.0 is 2.38 and it's another application (caja) that crashes also confirms that the problem is in glib2.0. I then disconnected my iPhone and reconnected it later. What happened: Well, a couple of things. First, when I unplugged, the Autorun windows disappeared, as expected. However, the real problem lies when I plug the phone back in. I plug it in and Mint tells me, Location is already mounted, and that window, along with the Autorun windows, will not go away. I have to restart my computer in order to make these windows go away, or remember to unmount the drive before disconnecting (which can be hard when using the computer simply for USB power). What I expected to happen instead: I expected these windows not to show up and for the iPhone to unmount automatically when I disconnected it. We can suggest making the command configurable though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to indicator-sound in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359249 Title: Launching PAVUControl works from Xubuntu, but not from Xfce Status in “indicator-sound” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Xubuntu 14.04 when clicking the sound indicator and choosing Sound Settings Pavucontrol is launched, but it does not get launched in the same scenario when the session Xfce is launched instead, with the same settings. In fact I installed the xfce4 package on top of Xubuntu's and launched it. Both xsession files list the same thing to start it, so is indicator only choosing to work on whitelisted sessions? Ok, I've tested it myself in the same other Xfce session. monsta@xubuntu:~$ echo $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP XFCE monsta@xubuntu:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION xfce So it's clear that the condition in indicator-application source code should be changed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1359382] Re: colord rejects printer .ICC color profile
** Project changed: linuxmint = colord (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to colord in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359382 Title: colord rejects printer .ICC color profile Status in Colord: New Status in “colord” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi, At work I have access to an expensive professional photo spectrometer to calibrate input and output devices in terms of color, Gretag Macbeth (now X-Rite) Spectrolino and Spectroscan, and i1 (Eye One). I have profiled my monitors (currently either Dell P2210 or Samsung SyncMaster 950p+) with them, and the monitor .ICC works perfectly well not only under Windows, but also under Linux Mint 16 Petra 64 Bit (all updates are installed). But not so the printer profile. No matter whether I try to import the ICC for the printer (trusty old HP Laserjet 4P) that I have created from a print under Linux or the one I have created from a print under Windows, colord rejects them with the cryptic error message invalid UTF-8. This happens when I start color over the settings dialog panel. When I try to import the ICC with right click on the file and select import with ICC profile installation a couple of seconds nothing happens, then I get the even stranger error message File could not be imported / The profile was not added in time. Again, gthe .ICC itself is pefectly sane and works flawlessly under Windows 7 and 8.1. I created it with the professional software Profile Maker 5 from Gretag Macbeth. Thanks for your help.
