[Touch-packages] [Bug 1859308] Re: software-properties-gtk erroneously reports that Intel Wireless-AC 9260 device is not working

2020-04-17 Thread Richard Anthony Horan
I have the same issue which goes away when I install a newer kernel then
the default Ubuntu kernel.

Title:
software-properties-gtk erroneously reports that Intel Wireless-AC
  9260 device is not working

Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On Ubuntu 20.04 (development branch), as of today, Additional Drivers
(software-properties-gtk 0.98.6) reports that the device "Intel
Corporation: Wireless-AC 9260" is not working, and suggests using a
  manually installed driver (cf. screenshot).

However the device is working correctly:

    * lsmod | grep iwlwifi, lspci -v, lshw, dmesg | grep iwlwifi all show
that its driver iwlwifi is in use
    * ls /lib/firmware/*9260* show that the appropriate firmware files
  are present

And I am indeed writing this bug report connected to an ac (5 GHz)
wifi network, where I can verify a ~130-160 Mbps download speed, so
software-properties-gtk shouldn't report the device as not working and
suggest manually installing a driver. Not sure why it says so?

sudo alsactl store does not save the headphone volume so I have to re-

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1861345] Re: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master with ALC1220 and ESS SABRE 9118 DAC Muted Front speakers 5.1

2020-02-02 Thread Richard Anthony Horan
Sorry, I don't understand the difference between Kernels. I have the
Ubuntu Kernel 5.5.1 installed from Ubuntu. Not the official Kernel from
Kernel.org. I downgraded to the official kernel that works with 18.04
LTS that is installed by default for filling out this bug report. I am
still uncertain with Ubuntu because have not been using it long as I
have occasionally stopped using it because of hardware limitations with
newer hardware.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1861345] Re: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master with ALC1220 and ESS SABRE 9118 DAC Muted Front speakers 5.1

2020-01-29 Thread Richard Anthony Horan
I have already tested it in the mainline kernel. I ran the command as
told. Same problem persists in all kernels I have tried. Currently,
tested on uname -r = 5.3.0-28-generic the mainline kernel for 18.04.3
LTS.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)

Bug description:
When plugging in a HDMI TV to Lenovo Carbon 3rd Edition, sound works

only thing I can do to restore sound is to reboot the machine. Similar

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1718927] Re: No HDMI sound after suspend/resume on 16.04

2019-04-24 Thread Richard Anthony Horan
I am having the same problem with Ubuntu 18.04.02 with HDMI audio. No
sound on Resume and it can't be selected as a sound source after resume.
A reboot is the only fix.
