[Touch-packages] [Bug 1838151] Re: Poor quality audio with modern Bluetooth headsets in HSP/HFP. Missing wide band speech support (Bluetooth A2DP codecs).

2020-12-03 Thread Richard Somlói
Disappointing. I've just ordered a 1mii B10 USB Bluetooth 5.0 Audio
Transmitter as a workaround...

Bug description:
Bluetooth HSP/HFP audio quality is poor on Ubuntu comparative to all
other major platforms (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, Android, iOS).

Modern Bluetooth headsets (such as the Bose QC series headphones, many
others) are capable of using HFP 1.6 with mSBC 16kHz audio encoding.
As it currently stands, Ubuntu defaults to only supporting HSP
headsets using 8kHz CVSD, and is incapable of supporting HFP 1.6 at
  this time.

The ChromiumOS team recently tackled this issue -
  https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=843048

Their efforts may assist in bringing this to Ubuntu, however it
appears that there are quite a lot of differences considering they
have developed their own audio server solution etc.

The Bluetooth Telephony Working Group published the HFP 1.6 spec in
  May 2011 -
  https://www.bluetooth.org/docman/handlers/downloaddoc.ashx?doc_id=238193

Patches have been proposed in the past for this issue to the kernel
  and PulseAudio:

  PulseAudio: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/245272/
  Kernel: https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg76982.html

It appears that the Chromium OS team applied the same kernel patch:

PulseAudio 14.0 is out [1], so hopefully there's no other blocker to merge

Bug description:
I've experienced this strange issue 4-5 times after OTA-12. It seems pretty
random and is hard to reproduce.
When I get an incoming call, the screen turns on, the incoming call pop up
appears, but there is no sound at all even though the phone is not in silent
mode (and also the speaker volume is not set too low). I can accept this call
and keep conversing as usual.
Once I asked the same caller to call me once again after a few minutes, that
time the phone rang as expected.

  Device: E5, OTA-12, stable channel

I can provide necessary logs if this happens again. Which ones should
  I gather?

  Possibly related to bug #1614943.

UPDATE: As mentioned in comment #7, it seems the phone rings for a
fraction of a second and then the sound pauses abruptly.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1607713] [NEW] 'The website says "%2"' sentence's missing from translations

2016-07-29 Thread Richard Somlói
Public bug reported:

Website authentication's second sentence is missing from translations:

In the code:
text: request ? i18n.tr('The website at %1 requires authentication. The website
says "%2"').arg(request.host).arg(request.realm) : ""

On Launchpad:
The website %1 requires authentication.

  "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Ubuntu 14.04) AppleWebKit/537.36 Chromium/35.0.1870.2

  Hi!

  2. Run one of these apps: GPS Navigation, HERE maps, Sensor Status.
  3. Drive.
  4. When you'll be into a WIFI area as a town or city, I'm thinking the WIFI
will try to search WIFIs and then the GPS will stop, the GPS apps will not
receive more new positions from the GPS.

Extra info1: If you had GPS Navigation & Sensor running, both of them
will not receive new GPS positions from the device. If you restart for
example GPS Navigation, GPS Navigation will receive new positions, but
Sensor Status not, until you restart it too.

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

  Thanks in advance!

Bug description:
  Hi!

I think that the mobile network cell triangulation position is not
  working in Ubuntu Phone OS.

The position should be really fast (~1 - 5") and I'm thinking that
Ubuntu Phone is waiting for a real GPS position every time.

A good test could be this:
  - Go to a room, way out of a sky to avoid a real GPS signal.
  - Set WiFi service OFF.
  - Set GPS service ON.
  - Set data connection ON.
  - Go to this website via webbrowser-app:
http://leafletjs.com/examples/mobile-example.html The website will ask you to
allow access to the current location.
  - Make sure to not have a GPS position cached.

In a PC or *any* Android you'll see your position immediately.
Bug: In Ubuntu Phone an error will appears. This error is because the
geoposition
(https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Geolocation/Using_geolocation)
is not working with the cell triangulation network data.

You can try a lot of apps like Google Maps, OSMTouch, HERE map, uNAV... and a
fast position from data connection is not happening, unless you be with a WIFI
connection.
If you try Google Maps in Android, the position will be really fast just with
data connection.

  Thanks in advance!

Indicator-datetime events are in wrong time format with other
language.I use the rc-channel with the build of 12th November. I
changed the language to Hungarian and added some events in the
calendar, then I checked the datetime indicator:

  Expected:

  Névtelen17.00
  NévtelenHolnap 9.00
  Riasztás H 7.00
  NévtelenNov. 21. Szo 9.00

  What I see:

  Névtelen17:00
  NévtelenTomorrow 09:00
  Riasztás H 7:00
  NévtelenSzo 21. nov. 09:00

So it's fully untranslated (tomorrow), partly untranslated (H 7:00)
and in wrong format (Szo 21. nov. 09:00) It was okay with OTA-7.
