[Touch-packages] [Bug 1022858] Re: Guest session asks for a password after switching users

2022-07-28 Thread martinr
I'm still experiencing this problem in 22.04. Are there any updates on when it
gets fixed?
Guest accounts are very useful.

Guest session asks for a password after switching users

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
When I switch back to an already open guest session from my user
account, I find that the guest session is locked and it asks for the
Guest password (which obviously there isn't because it's a guest
  session!).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1742912] Re: Please confine guest sessions again

2022-07-28 Thread martinr
Please be aware when configuring app-armor of the Firefox snap, that breaks the
guest-account experience in Xubuntu 22.04 LTS with Firefox version: 102.0.1
(64-bit), Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002-1.0.
See Bug #1981881 .

Title:
  Please confine guest sessions again

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This is a continuation of LP: #1663157 where as a workaround for the
guest session not being confined the session got disabled. This bug
tracks the fix for proper confinement.

  Original bug report text:

Processes launched under a lightdm guest session are not confined by the
/usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session AppArmor profile in Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu
17.04, and Ubuntu Artful (current dev release). The processes are unconfined.

The simple test case is to log into a guest session, launch a terminal
with ctrl-alt-t, and run the following command:

   $ cat /proc/self/attr/current

Expected output, as seen in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, is:

   /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session (enforce)

Running the command inside of an Ubuntu 16.10 and newer guest session
  results in:

   unconfined

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1593407] Re: Guest session cannot run snaps

2022-07-27 Thread martinr
I verified that Firefox in the guest account on the 6 years old Xubuntu 16.04
Xenial works.
So bug #1981881 is NOT a duplicate of this bug, because it affects Xununtu
22.04 Jammy.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 990887] Re: LightDM does not suspend when lid is closed

My system is using the following greeter:

LightDM does not suspend when lid is closed

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Until ubuntu 11.10, when I closed the lid in lightdm the computer
  suspended.

In Ubuntu 12.04, this behavior stopped to work while at the login
screen (lightdm). When logged in on Unity or Gnome, closing the lid
  suspends normally as expected.

I think that this is a bug, since all configurations panels, and
configurations files I found out, was saying that when closing the
  lid, the computer will suspend.

I've changed from lightdm to gdm using dpkg-reconfigure gdm and with
gdm when closing the lid the computer suspend normally as expected.

But I really prefer lightdm, and I would like to make this work as
worked in lightdm on Ubuntu 11.10.

  thanks!

I experience the same problem. When someone closes my laptop lid, when
no-one is logged in, the laptop keeps running and gets seriously hot
like a toaster oven. It is bound to fry one day. Please increase the
priority of this issue.

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
