Title:
[Dell XPS 15 7590, Realtek ALC3266, Mic, Internal] Lots of background
  noise on internal microphone

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Problem: Lots of background noise on the internal microphone. If I
record it in Audacity it seems that most of the noise is in the Left-
Front channel. The Right-Front channel is still noisy/bad quality, but
  not as bad.

Hardware: Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop (basically 2019 model)
  OS: Ubuntu 20.04 fresh/plain installation:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
  Release: 20.04

  Other tests:
  - If I use a external/USB headsets+microphone sound is fine
  - If I boot from Ubuntu 20.04 live USB it still has the problem
  - Tested with other versions/distributions, but it still has the problem:
ubuntu-19.10-desktop-amd64, linuxmint-20-cinnamon-64bit,
Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-32-1.6, xubuntu-20.04.1-desktop-amd64,
pop-os_20.04_amd64_nvidia_13, ubuntu-18.04.5-desktop-amd64

  - I tried many steps involving changing config files e.g.
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting + reboot, none fixed
the problem, reverted the config files back after every change

(translated set 2, code 0xbe on isa0060/serio0).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585094] Re: Random stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13

2016-11-11 Thread vak
not really expired.

The bug went away after some package update for several months (wow!) in
16.04 -- therefore I refused to run updates all this time to get a bit
of "normal life" during typing ;)

A few days ago I did an update and the damn bug returned... several
years of suffering from this Bug. BTW, guys, what keyboard layout are
you using when experiencing this bug?

I'm experiencing it only when using Neo2 layout.

It is not possible for me to find out the package causing it because of
"bulk" updating -- too many packages are on list and it is rather
impossible to update/upgrade them one-by-one and then test for the bug

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585094] Re: Random stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13

2016-06-14 Thread vak
No. It was never consistently working. I've bought this Notebook in 2013
and installed Ubuntu 13.10 . The bug was there. Then the bug was
disappearing from time-to-time and appearing again. However it showed up
in each Ubuntu release starting from the very first release installed on
this notebook - since 13.10.

btw, I've never seen this bug on Windows on this dual-boot Notebook,
that's why I assume it is not a fatal hardware bug.

How could I debug this issue?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585094] Re: Random stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13

2016-06-10 Thread vak
Christopher, sorry for my misunderstanding. IIRR, it was appearing in
*each* Release since 13.10 . After certain regular software updates it
goes away usually. Sometimes it came back without and distro-upgrade,
but just after some regular update. Now it is real bad and won't go away
at all.

Can I help to debug this terrible bug?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585094] Re: Random stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13

2016-06-07 Thread vak
Christopher, release of what entity do you mean? DistroRelease? xorg?
etc? -- both the DistroRelease and xorg releases are mentioned in the
bug description. However in fact this bug is about 3 years old. It came
after each Ubuntu release, then disappeared in 1-2 months. But now it
won't go.

This bug is bossing all around today. Very, very hard to work :(

Christopher, jfyi, blacklisting the ideapad_laptop didn't help. Let me
know, please, if I could help to locate this old and very unpleasant

2016-05-31 Thread vak
Christopher, it did happen before Xenial, but I don't remember exactly what was
the "cure".
Meanwhile I'll try to blacklist ideapad_laptop module and let you know if
anything happens

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585094] Re: Random stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13

2016-05-24 Thread vak
The rundom stuck key effect has been seen not only for arrow keys
though. It happens also for ALT, CTRL and probably SHIFT and SUPPER --
it is not easy to recognize what special/control key gets stuck. The
random stuck key effect never has been seen with alphabet and numeric
keys though.

Since I use Neo2 keyboard layout, the conventional arrow keys could be
ignored and the Right AltGr+S,E,D,F could be used instead. Still, even
if the AltGr combination is used the random stuck key effect happens
with the same occasional rate.

Title:
German neo2 keyboard layout: no ALT and SUPER keys

Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Affected version: Ubuntu 14.04.

When switching to the Neo 2 keyboard layout, I cannot use the ALT or
SUPER keys at all. To reproduce this bug, do the following:

  - In the keyboard system tray menu, select "Text Entry"
  - Click "+"
  - Select: "Germany (Neo 2)"
  - Close the "Text Entry" configuration
  - In the keyboard system tray menu, (temporarily) select "Germany (Neo 2)" as
active layout.

Now, shortcuts like +, +, ... are no longer
working. The same goes for the shortcuts I tried with .

Switching to Neo2 by "setxkbmap de neo" has the same result.

For sake of completeness: There are other bug reports regarding Neo2,
reporting that Layer4 (Mod4) is not working. In my case, Mod4 seems to
  be working fine.

Title:
Keyboard Layout Germany Neo 2: Mod4 does not work if used as
  secondary keyboard layout

Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
If Neo 2 is used as secondary keyboard layout, Layer 4 and 6 (that is,
Mod4) don't work. To reproduce this bug, do the following:

1: Neo 2 as primary keyboard layout
  - start gnome-keyboard-properties
  - Click Add...
  - Select Country: Germany and Variants: Germany Neo 2
  - Select Germany Neo 2 and move it to the top of the list.
Try to use Neo Layer 4 or 6. E.g. type the number 4 which is Mod4 and n
in Neo ( and j in standard German QWERTZ layout) or move the cursor left
using Mod4 and i (AltGr and s in QWERTZ layot). Works as expected.

  2: Neo as secondary layout
  - Now add Germany Eliminate dead keys to the list and move it to the top
  - Use Neo 2 as secondary layout
  - Click Options and select Scroll lock (or any other) as Key(s) to
change layout
Now switch to Neo using the selected key and try to type 4 or move the
curser as above. Instead of Neo Layer 4 or 6 you will have Layer 1/3 (that is,
you will be typing an n instead of a 4 and an i instead of moving the
cursor left).

Choosing other keys for layout change or turning the compose key
on/off does not change anything. Neither does applying Neo 2 as
primary layout system wide and using Germany Eliminate dead keys
with Neo 2 as a secondary keyboard layout as local user.

Applying the patch suggested on neo-layout.org for a similar problem
(http://wiki.neo-layout.org/ticket/174) does not have any effect.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1404468] Re: German neo2 keyboard layout: no ALT and SUPER keys

2015-05-25 Thread vak
It just happened to me that Alt-Tab suddenly stoped working in Ubuntu 15 under
Neo2.
If switched from Neo2 to other layout -- Alt-Tab works again, switching back to
Neo2 and it's not working.
Caveat: not sure though if it is an issue in xkeyboard-config !
