Title:
Fails to scan mp3 and consumes all the system memory when scanning

Status in “mediascanner2” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Image 148 on mako/flo, try importing file
  http://people.canonical.com/~rsalveti/Existance.mp3, and you'll see
mediascanner consuming most of the resources available, until killed.

Probably an issue with gstreamer itself.

Image 199 landed with a fix for mp3 seeking and memory consumption. Can
someone from the mediascanner team please see if my fix addresses this
bug?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1348236] Re: Fails to scan mp3 and consumes all the system memory when scanning

2014-08-12 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
That mp3 file is causing problems with GStreamer itself. To replicate,
simply do

apt-get install gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-apps
gst-discoverer-1.0 Existance.mp3

On the desktop it works just fine. On the phone this happens:

Analyzing file:///home/phablet/mdtest/Existance.mp3
Done discovering file:///home/phablet/mdtest/Existance.mp3
An error was encountered while discovering the file
No valid frames decoded before end of stream

Still happens on Utopic 161, and kind of important since it'll interfere
with a common UX story.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1348236] Re: Fails to scan mp3 and consumes all the system memory when scanning

2014-07-30 Thread Selene Scriven
I graphed the memory use from the time I launched the music player until
it completely locked up the phone and needed a hard reset. During the
test, I was attempting to seek within the current song every 5 to 10
seconds, which currently causes the music player to fail at seeking and
then skip to the next song. It took just under 4 minutes to completely
lock up a mako.

This is most likely the same issue as bug #1346821 and caused by a
GStreamer update.
