The problem still exists here (e.g. using nemo and trying to rename
files does not work in any way). I'm living with this very annoying bug
since years. Frustrating.

The issue was gone from my machine since I upgraded the installation to

I could not find a fix somewhere. Will reset state to Triaged. If you
know about any existing fix, please link it here and reset to Fix

Please not further: The linked upstream bug report had been set to

I have this problem in Ubuntu 16.04, with ibus disabled, and it affects
other applications as well (certain configuration menus, some fields in
browser windows, etc). The only way to input into these fields is to
copy/paste from somewhere else using the mouse.

With this new version, when renaming a file (F2 on the file for example)
a box pops up in which you can type the new name.
Unfortunately with this version you can't paste files from the upper
right menu (the option has been
I too experience this problem, can't rename files/dirs in nautilus, when
typing a letter it behaves like an enter. On 16.04 with Dell XPS13-9350,
disabling ibus did not resolve it for me. I have a Dell T3240 and there
it just runs fine. I'm guessing it has to do something with the input,

it!

Same issue (Ubuntu 14.10 on Acer TravelMate P253-e). Also for me, the
solution of setting Keyboard input method system to None ( System
Settings - Language Support - Language tab) offered by dess seems to
be fix. Thanks dess!
