Is this with an AMD/Radeon GPU? If so then it would be bug 1867080.

Title:
Mouse pointer vanished on Wayland (okay on X)

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Running 20.04 with all the repos enabled (including focal-proposed)

A recent update (apt-get dist-upgrade) made the mouse point disappear.

The mouse worked on a text console... and lsusb etc showed the presence of
the mouse.
In Wayland, pressing control key showed the pointer location.

  Resolution
  Edited /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncommented "WaylandEnable=false"
Rebooted a mouse pointer is now back.

  Wayland device driver problem?
