@Tim Abell (comment #18): I also have D-Link DBT-122. AD2P works fine, while I
have no audio in HSP/HFP mode in Xenial. I didn't try the mic, but I bet it
doesn't work either.
On the net I see that the Mac recognize this adapter as a Broadcom BCM2035.

After going throughout a lot of foros, the solution given at

there is a solutions for properly reading the firmware module for Broadcom
BCM20702A0 chip in the kernel for version 3.18+.
In my case it works well. Let me know if this solve the
