[Touch-packages] [Bug 1405118] Re: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason
I also suffer this problem from 14.04 onwards. Happens occasionally (maybe once a day on average) and typically after a reboot... The keyboard setting from the Language Icon in the top right is set to 'English UK' - there is also an 'English US' option - and simply re-selecting English UK fixes it.. The next time I reboot it's a 50/50 whether it stays on UK or reverts back to US. Just a little annoyingly... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405118 Title: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This problem has occurred ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine, I installed 14.04, and even though I have upgraded to 14.10, the problem still persists. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1405118] Re: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason
The Unknown, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1405118 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. It will still at random times change from what I want it to be English (UK), to English (US) keyboard layout. And when this has happened I have looked in the settings to see which of the keyboard layouts is selected, and even though it is clear that it has somehow changed to English (US), it still says it is English (UK). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1405118] Re: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason
Well it keeps on randomly changing, and this means that I might be writing an email and I am putting in an at symbol, and I put in the at symbol using the key on my keyboard with the at symbol picture on it. And my keyboard layout is set so that pressing that key will give me that at symbol. But 5 minutes later the keyboard layout may have changed to US (from UK) and when I press the key which should give me that at symbol, I get a double-quote. And sometimes it will change back, and sometimes it won't for a few hours. Sometimes it is after a restart, sometimes not. And it is not just the at symbol changing to the double-quote symbol, but it is true for every key that changes with the new keyboard layout. And in the menu for changing languages it still shows English (UK) so I cannot even manually change it back. This is just something which is really annoying. And it becomes impossible to touch-type because I don't know which symbol key will give me which symbol. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405118 Title: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has occurred ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine, I installed 14.04, and even though I have upgraded to 14.10, the problem still persists.
